Miami Dolphins Rookie of the Year Vote
Over the next few days, we are going to start voting on end of the year awards for the Miami Dolphins. We will start today with the Rookie of the Year category.
Miami had a fairly decent rookie class this year, with two players moving in as starters, two playing quality backups, and a developing wide receiver.
The players are listed in the order in which they were drafted:
Mike Pouncey, Center
Daniel Thomas, Running Back
Clyde Gates, Wide Receiver
Charles Clay, Fullback/Tight End
Jimmy Wilson, Cornerback
Keep reading to vote for your favorite for the rookie of the year. The poll will close at midnight Sunday. Award winners will be announced next week.

I would be very surprised if pouncey doesn't have at least 70 percent of the vote

Who does everyone want for coach?
Can someone make this poll? I’m not so sure it should be Fisher. Do we really want a ground and pound type offense or would we rather have someone like the Green Bay OC who will bring the west coast offense to dolphin land?
seriously
have you been under a rock?

God I hope we can knock the Jets out of the playoffs, I couldn't imagine despising a team and fan base more.
Go Dolphins!

Pouncey FTW.

Pouncey by far

how could it not be Pouncey?
i like clay like the rest of you, but pouncey started all season and was one of the more solid parts of our line. Clay was pretty good while in the game, but pouncey turned out to be a great pick.

Pouncey has been sick
But I think that Clay outperformed his draft position moreso than Pouncey. With another year of development and (if we can manage it) a savvy quarterback directing the offense, Clay has the ceiling to become a Pro Bowler alongside Pouncey.

Pouncey did great,
but he had more mistakes than Clay. Then again, Clay didn’t get as many snaps as Pouncey. So many bad snaps this season though, I had to vote Clay.
More of Moore in 2012!
Coples for our new 4-3!

Pouncey better be great being a first round pick
I had to vote for Willson just for how low in the draft we got him, and how he seem to always doing something positive. (okay a couple of rookie mistakes here and there) But I know Pouncey will win.

It cant be anything other than Pouncey
Nobody else did anything remotely close to special. Thomas must have had the worst YPC of any Rusher with more than 50 carries. He was also pretty terrible in short yardage situations, which was odd. Clay only provided a sporadic good moment or two.. same with Wilson. Gates was flat out non-existant in the passing game, although a decent return man.
It has to be Pouncey. he’s the only rookie that made any sort of difference… and it was a big one.
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
Now I'm not ragging on the likes of Clay and Wilson
Although some of the homerism on this site is annoying. You wouldn’t expect a 6th or 7th round pick to have much of an impact in their first year – and they didn’t. The fact they both made the team and contributed is a win in itself, and we can only hope they both build off this season.
So if they question is “Who is ROY based up upon relative spot in the draft order”, the question has more context. I still would pick Pouncey, an they way the question is worded now, it can’t be anything other than Pouncey unless somebody has a bias or mancrush on one of the other players.

I'll say it

not a bad draft class...
but Pouncey was the biggest difference maker of our 2011 draft.
Pouncey did the most and deserves ROY
but looking back after these guys retire, I think Charles Clay will end up being the gem of this draft.
i respectfully disagree
I think Pouncey has the potential to be one of the best lineman in Miami history. I know that is a bold statement to make after one year; but, I think Pouncey is a top 10 center in the league right now and will only get better.
I agree that Pouncey will be great
I just think highly of Clay. He’s a matchup problem for most defenses, and as long as we have Bush defenses won’t be able to adjust too much to defend him.

Jimmy Wilson will be better suited as a Safety. It is where he played for most of PS.
Pouncey was by far the best rookie.

I touted Pouncey last winter, and I am certainly not going to let up now
He’ll soon be the best center in the game. I can count on one hand how many centers I’ve seen who had an elite combination of intelligence and athleticism, and Pouncey’s one of them. I think he’s already better than his brother, and he really blossomed as a pass protector this year. He’s a Pro Bowl alternate for a reason—he’s a young, ridiculous talent at the center position.

pouncey
not even close..started all season and really progressed as the season went on. Clay had a nice year, but didnt see the ball enough…wilson played extremely well also…now lets add another solid draft this year..sign flynn so we dont have to use a #1 pick on a questionable qb…get someone to take colombos spot, a tight end that can outrun the lbs, and another stud rb who has some beef…like wilson from va tech
