What have people got against Matt Flynn? Please Don't compare him to Kolb, because Kolb was shit for the Eagles too. He was actually better for the Cardinals than the Eagles. For me, Flynn does everything that a West Coast QB is supposed to do. What does he not do that people are against him? Is money and him being a backup to Rodgers the only problem for people?

People forget Hasselbeck was no.2 in green bay. Look how he turned out. People forget Flynn bet out 2nd round pick Broehm to remain as 2nd choice QB.

Philbin knows whether he will bring in Flynn or not. If he does, we got to trust the guy who has worked with him for 4 years. And I might add that if Flynn was coming out of the draft this year, he would be a 1st rounder.

I'm not really as much against Flynn as I am for RG3

I am holding our for Philbin to make a great choice.

Problem is

Is that free agency comes before the draft, so The Dolphins can’t put all their chips into RGIII because there is no guarantee that they can move up that far in the draft. That’s why they will be all in on Flynn and if they get outbid, then they are all in on RGIII.

Don't think being outbid will be the problem.

Flynn will want to come here, and will probably take a bit less to come here. It’s the best chance he has to be successful.

well hes still really unproven

But I do like the idea he has a complete grasp of the Playbook and chemistry with Phinbin

True.

But Luck doesn’t need to sit. RG3 does.

More of Moore in 2012!

Timing...

If Barkley was still in, we’d be hoping for him too. If RG3 wasn’t in the draft, we’d see a whole lotta’ more pro-Flynn guys (and gals). What Bahama states is true. Right now it’s the timing of choices. We shouldn’t use the word “unproven” as much as we should use the phrase “hasn’t been given the opportunity”.
For me, odds are better at getting Flynn than RG3 or Manning. I won’t be bothered by anyone one of the 3 either.

There's so many things RG3 would have to learn how to do.

He didn’t really do anything under centre. He rarely made it past his first read, if it wasn’t open immediately, he’d just roll out to the right 90% of the time and hope it was.
It could be argued that RG3 may not take the adjustment to a west coast offense well. West Coast qbs usually have to make an instinctive throw to one of 5 targets, while he’s obviously very smart, theres a difference between smart and instinctive.

Also Kolb was a west coast qb who went too a team who don't play the west coast

We will play the west coast, also Philbin knows if Flynn is franchise material

People don't want to see franchise QB money paid to a guy with 2 career starts.

It cannot be explained more simply than that. If you or anyone else doesn’t understand it, it’s because you don’t want to.

But that's the going price

for a starting QB in this league. Unproven or not, you can’t be cheap when it comes to the QB. The dolphins have been doing it for years and it hasn’t worked out very well.

It happened with both Cassel and Kolb...

I wouldn’t mind either Flynn or RG3. Whoever we draft should compete against Moore. Let the best qb win.

Where is Oronde Gadsden when we need him?

Take starts out of it and evaluate what he has shown on the field.

Can you find a reason he only has 2 starts besides being on the same team as Rodgers?

by Irishphan on Jan 31, 2012 6:22 PM EST up reply actions

Thats crazy

Teams have been paying franchise money to players that have 0 NFL starts, their call rookies. At least Flynn has a grasp of the system and has played in the NFL . I say go for it and use our draft picks to shore up other needed positions.

by dolphan63 on Jan 31, 2012 7:05 PM EST up reply actions

I see Flynn as the favorite (right now) to land the job.

With Peyton ailing and RG3 costing a kings ransom, he looks like the only real option (unless someone like Tannehill rises in the draft). It would also be nice to get him in free agency and shore up another position (like pass rusher) in the first round. But, that all depends if the coaching staff thinks he is for real.

by phinsatx on Jan 31, 2012 5:51 PM EST reply actions

Get me Flynn...

then get me an O-lineman, then get me a pass rusher… then get me a super bowl ring.

by SoxDolphin on Jan 31, 2012 6:52 PM EST reply actions

Agree

seems like this 2nd tier OT could be more than a decent starters, then can get a Pass-Rusher DE/OLB in first roound and OT in second

But Flynn option was the 1st for a QB to me too

by David Leal on Jan 31, 2012 8:20 PM EST up reply actions

Just like Cassel with the NE Pats

Flynn is in an extremely QB friendly situation in GB. Hell, I’d love to see Moore’s #‘s in a game playing with GB’s offense. That to me is why Flynn is unproven and the only person who really knows how good Flynn really is, is our head coach. If we dont get Flynn, then Philben knows that GB’s offense made Flynn look better than he really is.
