PrintJust a question, that's all. But how much would it cost to move up from 9th to 1st? I don't have a copy of this year's value chart, so I'm depending on you guys. Luck seemed so poised in the pocket, it was mind-boggling. He's so mature and confident (not cocky), it would be such a waste for him to go to the Colts. But I would love to have him direct the Dolphins after watching him against Oklahoma St (even though they lost). How many firsts would we have to give up? Could cash also be included. I really know that most, if not all, of you would say it's too much and/or costly but just for the fun on paper, how much. Players, too, include. Thank you.

The chart is worthless this year
You are going to have to give up more than the value chart. Hopefully some teams will be out of the running after FA. That will drive the price down. Im thinking two 1sts, a second, and a fourth will get it done.
I would make that deal any day of the week and twice on Sunday.....
The only reason I watch Jets games is to see if TODAY is the day Rex Ryan's fat heart gives out on him...

The so called value chart was never more than a tool that some teams used but in the end it is useless as a pick
is worth what a team is willing to give up for it. Nothing more and noting less. This year of course it would not even come close to being a reliable guide.

Its a guide and some teams use it still but most teams are going to try and get more then value for a pick when a team
is trying to trade up for a player they want or on the other hand a team might take less if there is no one rated at that point that they really want and are happy trading down or for a future pick.

The chart can be thrown out this year
Because of Luck’s perceived value. The asking price, according to Adam Schefter, is 4 first rounders, which isnt too unreasonable since Luck is considered as good as Manning and Elway.
I would offer 4 1st rounders...

The Trade Value Chart
The Value Chart is still used by teams. I heard at least 3 draft guru types during the 2011 draft use it to assign value to trades. When it comes down to this year and the 1st pick the chart goes out the window. If we want to get a Franchise QB it is going to cost us. Here is something for everyone to read and joke about.

I saw a story just this morning about Antonio Cromartie stating that “one side” of the ball played well against the Dolphins. He was quite disturbed about Sanchez and their offense. I went back to the website but I couldn’t find it. I could have sworn I saw it there. Anyway, Cromartie was DEFINITELY blaming Sanchez for the Jets loss. There was (AND IS) much disgust in the Jets lockerroom over this and it said Cromartie may not be there because Ryan went after (forgot his name – funny name – from Seattle, I believe) – Cromartie is gone. I don’t think the Jets will get rid of Sanchez. WHO ELSE SAW THIS STORY?

If “all it takes” is 2 first rounders, 2 seconds and maybe something else, I would do it. If it wasn’t the Colts, I would throw in a couple of players (if allowed by rules) because I would hate to see Marshall, for example, make a winning TD against us. But let’s wait and see after the combine and all those interviews (anyone know if Luck’s mother was a “working girl”?) and free agency. We’ll get our coach and once that is settled and he juggles his assistance, I for one, will not be surprised if Ross gives up the store for Luck. If he wants him, he’ll make the deal.

I can’t understand people who would trade proven commodities for unknown ones. No one is going to offer you what they are really worth. You are not going to find anything better in the draft than the players we have spent valuable time developing. We have everything but one piece. If we improve our QB position we do better than 6-3 for the last 3 games. If we extend out 6-3 to a full season that is either 11-5 or 12-4, good enough for any playoff run provided you have that franchise QB. Bottom line you sell the farm to get that guy. Every other player on offense and defense will play better because you have that guy. Defense will play better because they will stay off the field, be more fresh when they do come out and if we get out to a good enough lead can tee off on the other team’s QB.
