Don't you think since we have a "Offensive minded" HC that he might make a move for a play maker on the offensive side of the ball instead of the defensive side? Look at the Packers. TONS of talent on the offensive side. I'm thinking Blackmon. Trade Hartline for a 4th/5th rounder? What do you all think?

Blackmon isnt going to fall to our draft position and trading up for a WR is VERY risky

Pass rusher is our second highest need and if we address the highest need in FA (Manning or Flynn), then getting a big time pass rusher would be our priority. Since Marshall and Bess are good targets, getting another big time WR isn’t a priority. There will be several second tier WRs that we can draft between rounds 3-5 if necessary. I think if we are going to go for offensive weapons, getting a premier receiving TE would be a better option than another WR. If we drafted Fleener for example, that would give us a talented receiving TE unit with Fasano, Fleener, and Clay. IMO, that’s more of a necessity than getting a 1st round WR.

Im not saying i want it to happen

I actually think our #1 need this offseason is RT then pass rusher then QB. What good is a top tier QB if he gets hurried/sacked every time he drops back to pass. I think im the only one here that wants Reiff in the first round… get Tannehill in the second… pass rusher in the third ect..

I think RT is about 3rd or 4th on the list

The reason most fans are so worried about RT is that we had literally the worst RT in the league last year. Saying that RT is our #1 need is nothing more than overreaction to Colombo’s play IMO. We don’t need an elite RT (1st round RT). While that would be nice, it’s not a higher priority over QB or pass rusher. Getting a QB is always the top need when you don’t have one. Pass rusher is a need because we one have one good pass rusher and he’s an older player. If we move to a 4-3. then getting a top pass rusher is a huge need. Merling is our best option right now, and that’s if he trims down to his college weight. Finding a QB and top pass rusher are our priorities in the draft/FA markets. I think we will be fine moving forward with Murtha and a 3rd/4th round rookie RT at this point. If they don’t work out, then we can always find a RT another time.

Agreed drafting a WR in the 1st rd (not named Blackmon) is not realistic.

I would like to see the Dolphins get as much speed on offense as possible that is why I would love to see them get Meachem in FA and then maybe draft a guy like Joe Adams in the draft (maybe 4th – 5th round.) The tight end position will also be addressed but probably not thru FA instead I think they will be looking for best TE value in the draft anywhere from 3rd to 5th round.

I don't think we'll necessarily target a WR in FA either

IMO, getting another WR is a luxury. We could probably get an upgrade for Hartline, but we don’t need one. Unless the FO feels that Meachem us a clear-cut upgrade over Hartline, then we probably have our WR core set. I believe that Wallace and Moore are gone, unless one of them dominates training camp (Moore might be a good fit in the WC offense and thus have a good TC). I think Pruitt sticks because he has speed and was clearly our best special teams player as the season progressed. I think we will target a TE in the draft such as Fleener and that would round out our offensive weapons.

I also think they might look at another direction in terms of upgrading the return game. Gates was a decent KR, but we could definitely upgrade the PR department. Brandon Boykin would be a good fit in all areas as he gives us a nickel CB and dynamic PR man. If we can’t get Boykin, we might target Chris Rainey as a RB/WR/KR/PR in the 5th round or so.

I couldn't agree with you more!

The reason I mentioned Meachem is because althought I really like Hartline, I feel Meachem has greater potential than him in the WC system. If we were to acquire Meachem it would allow us to us Hartline as trade bait come draft day (possibly moving up a few spots if we absolutely want a certain player.) I agree both Moore and Wallace are gone that will easily free up close to $2 million in cap space. Pruitt definately stays he was a monster gunner on ST. I also agree on the TE but I don’t see them going for a TE that high especially because there is some great value this year for TE in later rounds (Egnew, Paulson, Green).

I love that you mentioned Boykin, he was a beast in the Senior bowl practices until he got hurt. I think with the injury Boykin may slip to the third round, maybe this is where we can pull off the Hatline trade I mentioned earlier to move up a few spots to ensure that we get Boykin. You are also 100% right that we need to upgrade KR but I see us targeting Jon Adams instead of Rainey (possibly 4th or 5th round). I like Rainey and wouldn’t be upset if they chose him but I was very disappointed in his performance in the senior bowl to me Adams outshined him.

I actually think Phiblin will find a way to use Julius Pruit's talent to good use.

Tall speedy.. dont know why he isnt used already. i know hes a ST specialist but we can stll use him on stretching the field..

i agree...there are some wide recievers on both the roster and the practice squad that could be utilized very well in a west coast offense.....

Just one mans opinion...

I'm happy with getting a WR in rounds 2-4

And if Peyton comes down I wouldn’t mind Wayne coming down for 2 years.

Philbin and the Packers are about developing talent.

He’ll have Ireland draft a guy or two in later rounds that they can coach up and develop into stars.

Too many needs to draft WR

There will be a few good undrafted free agent WR’s available after the draft. I look for Miami to sign a undrafted WR or two to bring in and compete. And great WR’s don’t need great QB’s to get them the ball. Marshall is too much of a prima dona.
