I mean if the dolphins haven't sent feelers out there to flynn's camp, that says alot
We can’t afford to have another miss.
however...thats formal inquiries
Informal inquiries are another thing. Plus…Our HC knows about Flynn….so….Im trusting him…if he doesnt think it would be worth it…Im sure he’s let Ireland now what he needs to know about Flynn

If he does not feel Flynn is the guy for us
I hope they pull out their best Anthony Hopkins and act it up like they are pushing hard for him. If we can run the price of Flynn up a bit on another team it will tie them up and give us a better shot at the guy we want (Im an RGIII guy).
Why would the Dolphins NEED to show informal interest?
Didn’t Philbin and Flynn speak before he accepted the Dolphins’ job?
^^^This!!!
I say since the season ends… Flynn was a first option if Philbin land as HC in any team
They don’t need to make any publicity, because they know each one for years… and Flynn know his better possibilities to success in NFL was to play for the coach was develop him in this years… because of that he can accept a 2 year deal for less if he sign in other teams, with the promise if he was a successful season(s) , he could land a long and big contract in one or two years.
Old habits are hard to break!
No More Retreads!
The only sure thing is... The Jets Suck
If you think Manning or Flynn or henne, or anyone else is a sure thing, you are smoking the evil weed! :)
Smart teams aren’t afraid to take a chance. From great risk comes great reward. From playing it safe comes… Well, 0-7.
Smart teams also learn from their mistakes.
People act like the team has never taken a chance since Marino retired. They soon forget that every move we have made has been a high risk/ reward attempt to find a replacement at QB.
Culpepper over Brees: Seemed like a safe bet. After a successful career, Culpepper seemed to be the better QB, most teams would take a QB with a bad knee, over a QB with a bad shoulder any day. Except….people forget that Culpepper was a scrambling QB in the mold of a lesser accurate Young. This alone made it more of a risk, he wasnt the same, we lost out.
Pennington was good for a year, but anyone thinking the oft injured QB was a safe pick has a few screws loose. He had a successful first season, because he knew how to run the offense we ran, and also had the benefit of suprise when it came to lack of a knowledge, and underplay by the opposition.
Henne and Moore i will tie together for the simple fact that they pretty much were treated the same, backups that didnt gain familiarity with a first team offense due to our thinking that they were going to spend a lot of time on the bench.
Each move weve made to secure the QB spot has been a crapshoot. Weve simply been rolling snake eyes. Im to a point that whatever we do, we need to make sure the odds are in our favor. Tbh, theres only two QBs that i see that have a better chance at succeeding. Neither are named Peyton.

Don't think you are correct here
The great risk was in picking a QB in the first round, we haven’t done that since Marino. Pennington was another retread, but one I liked because of the type of qb he was, smart with an average arm. The phins have for many years, taken in later rounds, the guy with the big arm but not a great player, those are gone for the most part in the first round. As I have indicated, I’d rather have the guy with an average arm but a real feel for the game. Someone who is a winner. Someone who has the illusive “it” factor.
henne and Moore have little in common. henne was always thought to be a franchise guy, build as “better than Marino,” so don’t have any idea what you are talking about as they were never treated the same…. Ever. henne was treated as the future, given all the snaps, Moore was treated like a read headed step child. Never even given one snap with the first team, yet he was able to step in and for the first time since henne came to town, put up more TD’s than INT’s.
Culpepper… never liked him. Breese was always the better choice IMO, so it was no surprise to me the phins took Culpepper, it has been their mo for many, many years. The team that wasn’t able to see the potential in Cruze, or, oh Lord, too many to list here.
Risk and the phins, an oxymoron. More like fantasy than risk. Always trying to make something out of nothing, rather than start with a far better player, taken in the first round and that is why we haven’t had a QB since Marino… IMO.

If we get Flynn it will because Philbin knows him better than pretty much anyone
Not because he had one good game.
If we don’t get Flynn it will be because Philbin knows him better than pretty much anyone, not because we were afraid to take a change.
If you factor in the uncertainty about Manning’s neck Flynn is probably the most known quantity of all the options people are suggesting – short of Moore and Henne

I don't see this as meaning it is unlikely.
Negotiations between Flynn and Miami could move fast if they both want to be there. There could be a number of reasons why no contact has been made. Maybe Miami doesn’t care to reach out until they can see progress in Manning’s health. Maybe they’re discussing draft options. Maybe they’re still reviewing what they have in Matt Moore. The offseason hasn’t begun, coaches are yet to be hired, and Philbin has been on the job a week. There haven’t been any reports or rumors of Miami, or other teams for that matter, showing signs in potential FAs. That doesn’t mean Miami isn’t interested in any FAs…

I have to agree with your statement
no offical word yet on the QB position other than Ross saying PM is high on his list for the franchise QB that is all. Everything else is just speculation on the rest of the reports of posible canidates for the QB position. Right now I like what Ross is doing, and who knows we could end up getting Drew Brees from the Saints. I don’t know; you don’t know; nobody knows all I’m saying is we all could be surprised with the selection that could be made at the QB position. They have done it before and they can still do it today.

As of today... the top 3 candidates I think that are most likely are:
Matt Flynn, Peyton Manning, and Ryan Tannehill. In no particular order. Maybe we even end up with 2 out of those 3.

Salguero thinks?
RGIII or flynn, whichever one helps us win
Leader of the "draft Jayron Hosley in the 2nd" bandwagon
Grand Cardinal of the first holy church of brandstater
He should think
Just dont speak. As for the the Matt Flynn naysayers, what has RGIII done, he is college QB. And if you say he is a Heisman Trophy winner the talk of the town, F that I can say Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf Etc Etc to shoot that down. I would take the guy that is 26 has been in NFL 4 Years has at least started some games and done very well. These guys want to win now, not later, and waiting for RGIII to mature to be able to handle the NFL does not seem to fit these guys In my humble opinion.
Well if Armando says it's a no...
then we should start putting in orders for our Flynn jerseys because he’s going to be in Miami for awhile.
Armando - So easily duped. So slow on the uptake.
Sounds to me like a Miami “team source” is using Armando’s column to fuel more rumors and run up the price on Manning for some sap like the Jets.
“A team source e-mailed me this afternoon that the priority is Manning. This coincides with news out of Mobile, Ala., where the Senior Bowl is going to be played Saturday. A league source there tells The Herald’s Barry Jackson that the Dolphins have shown no interest in Flynn as of yet — not even informal interest.”
If the team or a source leaks that the number one priority is Manning…then Miami is going hard after Flynn. Its classic misdirection. Avoid tampering charges, wait until Flynn is a FA and make the move.
The proof is right there in the open, people. Regardless of his limited playing time…its far more time in Philbin’s offense than anyone else in Miami currently has. Certainly its more experience in that offense than Manning has. Philbin NEEDS Flynn to make it all work.
Please. Flynn is very aware of Miami’s interest. He knows about it. His agent knows about it. The pastor at his grandparents church knows about it. Apparently the only person unaware is Armando.
Any team that would take Manning over Flynn isn’t saying “win now.” Its saying “gullible and poorly managed.” You go for the hot young hand every time. Thats how you build a team. And if any team or fans should know this, its Miami.
The only way Miami goes for Manning is if they miss out on Flynn and know they can’t draft a solid QB. Anything else is panicky foolishness and straw grabbing jackassery.
