NJ Dolfans

As you may or may not see on TV when we play the Jets or Giants up here, there is a HUGE Dolphins following here in the New Jersey area. A couple of Dolphins fans were calling up Mike Francesa on 660 WFAN today to discuss Peyton Manning. The basic concensus up here is that Manning to the Jets would be borderline impossible. The top two candidates for Manning's services would be the Redskins and Dolphins. The Skins will try to grab Peyton with money but, as Francesa put it, those 'in the know' on this situation are putting their money on the Phins to get him. Those in the Peyton 'camp' have said that he wants to play for another 6 years.

Obviously this would be a risk BUT I see us getting Peyton if he is available. We have the money, the history, the warm weather, etc. We would not have to waste a draft pick on RG3. Depending on the money situation (which is THE situation), I say let's do this. Put us back on the map. Use the draft to build the rest of our team.

As a Nj Dolfan

I am not sold on us getting Peyton until I hear for certain that he’s being pushed out of the way. I’m worried he may either retire to become part owner of the colts or they will play him while they wait to develop Luck.

Irsay would never let him be a part owner.

I never got a prize for doing what was expected of me.

I don't know if he would come to the Phins

But Manning will play again.

I forget which post had it...but

With our cap situation….it’s pretty clear that we could afford him…but only him. Maybe there might be some kind of situation where people get cut…traded…not resigned…etc…but that leaves a lot of holes. Just sayin…don’t get your hopes up too high

I see the 49ers as a wild card, but a great fit for Manning

i think he will sign there

terrible fit for manning!

the niners have a terrible offensive line and no receivers. there best reciever is vernon davis who is their tight end. Michael crabtree is a waste of space and that team is a run first team to the fullest extent.
We are the best fit. We have the better line (drafting a stud RT 1st round) and the better recievers.
I like the niners, but they are perfectly happy with alex smith’s play all season. he had a rough game last week, but his receivers didnt exactly help him out much.

funny, we just spent a season seeing how terrible the Colts were. Before that, we had no idea because Manning makes everyone look so good.

Turns out he has been working with an O-line worse than the 49ers and a receiveing core just as average. but Manning would make the 49ers receivers into real threats, like he did with Collie and Gonzalez. You cannot try to tell me Crabtree isnt better than those two. Manning would take that team to the next level. He is a great fit for them, dont be bias simply because you want him here…

its not that i am biased, it is that

i watch alot of niner games and see how much of an underachieving lazy man crabtree is. Josh morgan is probably their best receiving threat and he wouldnt start on most teams in the NFL. Yes, peyton makes people around him better, but the niners would have to completely restructure their offensice philosophy to create an environment that manning could be manning in.
I would like for manning to wind up here, but i outside of us, the only other great fit for him would probably be in Arizona.

i'd love to have him here, but 6 years is a stretch

However, I still think we should draft a QB for the future, even if it means trading down. Or draft Reiff in the 1st round to ensure Peyton gets all the protection possible. My dream scenario would be to sign Manning and trade up for RG III but I think that’s all it is: a dream. We’ll see.

We would not have to waste a draft pick on RG3.
