Anyone else getting the notion that we have hired and inherited the Sherman coaching tree rather than the McCarthy coaching tree? All rumblings of OC/DC/position coaches I'm hearing about are more connected to the Sherman lineage than the modern-day Green Bay organization.
Very dissapointing.

Doesn't matter
Philbin is going to put the people he thinks are best for the job in place. He wants to win. They hired him with the confidence he will do what’s right for the organization. I can’t be too disappointed until I see otherwise.

Well I disagree
For example, people from the Parcells/Bellicheck tree will have a different way of valuating coaches/personnel … So it stands to reason that it’s quite possible Philbin/Sherman tree may favor/value coaches different than McCarthy tree.
Anyone else concerned about shutting down off tackle runs this year?
I understand that logic.
But just because you’re from the same “tree”. Doesn’t mean you’re exactly the same.
Belichick=Great Coach
McDaniels,Mangini, Crennel, and Weiss=Not so Much
Just because he coached under Sherman or McCarthy doesn’t mean he’ll act as if he is them. Studying under them could lead him to believe they made some mistakes in the past and he may go an alternate route.
So again until I see him do anything to the detriment of this team, I can’t be too disappointed just yet.
Or it may have absolutely nothing to do with it.
Philbin can’t land all the Packer coaches. They’re still under contract. So he could just be going with other coaches that he’s used to or has been recommended to him.

I'm excited for the future in Miami.
But I absolutely do see your point in that what we thought was the initial packaging is turning out to be something a little different. Meaning Philbin’s mentors aren’t what we at first perceived them to be.
All’s well, however. New regimes mean hope is allowed to spring eternal once again.
Playoff bound in 2012!

"I think we can all agree the best thing about this years Superbowl is the Jets aren't in it. The Jets are a lot like the Yankees...everyone hates them. Only they don't have good players, a winning tradition or a coach who doesn't beat off everytime a player gets their ankle taped." - Daniel Tosh

The Packers also have an informal rule with their assistants.
They will allow people to interview to improve themselves, but they are not supposed to take other assistants with them.
The Packers may or may not allow Philbin to interview and hire coaches from Green Bay right now.

Gonna take a fortnight at least to get this herd down to St. Louis on Mississippi. This glen's gonna be tough to traverse, and that river's got to be 50, 60 meters wide. And God knows how many fathoms. To hell with parliamentary procedure. We've got to wrangle up some cattles!

Optimistic
Until I see Philbin make a mistake, I am looking forward to seeing the coaching staff he assembles.
Come on people.
It’s been like four days and we haven’t won 1 single Super Bowl yet. The guy’s obviously a bum.

I think Sherman is EXACTLY the type of coach that Philbin needs.
Sherman has experience as a HC in the NFL (and College) and as a play caller. That experience will be needed.

Who's Sherman?
Miami's Superstars: Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall, Jake Long, Mike Pouncey, Karlos Dansby, Cameron Wake, Vontae Davis and Sean Smith (just wait), Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Stanton, Gaby Sanchez, Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, Heath Bell, Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes, Tomas Fleischmann, Stephen Weiss, Jose Theodore, and Chris Versteeg. :)
