Upstate's Dolphin offseason(UPDATE)
["Several sources" tell the Palm Beach Post the Dolphins are expected to switch to a 4-3 defense in 2012, and that as a result free agent NT Paul Soliai will be allowed to walk.]
Free Agency and players we must resign.
I just removed both Soliai and Langford reading this. This would move both Starks and Odrick inside and put Wake as a End where he played in the CFL. If this is true then getting Coples or Melvin Ingram is a must in this draft.
I like Misi as a OLB in a 4-3 Defense. He excels versus the run and is not that bad in coverage. But who would be the MLB, Burnett or Dansby?

Matt Flynn- Coach Philbin will bring his guy to Miami. I'm afraid of how much it will cost but hopefully we can work out a good deal with the guy. 5 year 45 million.
Jake Scott- Now with more money with not resigning both Soliai and Langford we have extra cap space to get a good guard. Carl Nicks will be way to much and Scott will not cost as much. 4 year 20 million.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I'm just doing the first three rounds of this NFL draft
With the 8th pick the Miami Dolphins select Quinton Coples.
With a switch to 4-3 we must go get another pass rusher. Coples will be that guy, with him and Wake we have a legit pass rushing unit with Starks and Odrick in the inside.
Round 2 the Dolphins select Brian Quick, Wide reciever for App State. This guy is going to show up big in the senior bowl. He is 6-foot-3 with 33 1/2-inch arms and is 220 lb. We will run more 5 wide sets with Philbin and this guy is a upgrade over Hartline.
And in round three the Dolphins select Antonio Allen. A Saftey for the Gamecocks and He was all over the ball this year. He would push both Clemons and Jones.
Tell me what you guys think of this off season and FINS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And here are some stupid pictures off Dirty Sanchez to cheer us up.

Two things to add
Soliai isn’t signing a contract that averages $6 mil per year. You’d have to add at least $15 mil to that contract. We don’t need to sign Langford either, but it’d be nice.
As for Coples, he can play 4-3 DT, DE, or 3-4 DE. He’s not a 3-4 OLB. Coples is tremendous talent and I’d love to have him if we were in a 4-3, but we don’t need another 3-4 DE if we stay in the scheme and he won’t be as good as you think he could as an OLB.

I really think Coples is a Mario Williams clone.
It wont matter to him. Wake will take the double teams and Coples would have 1v1 . Just looking at Aldon Smith this year makes me want that young pass rusher that can change a game. Everyone thought Aldon was a reach last year and look at the kid he is a stud. I just have a feeling about Coples.

Except Williams is faster off the line and more explosive.
Coples has good burst off the line and has great moves and hands, but he’s not the type of person that would convert to a 3-4 OLB and turn the corner. And this has nothing to do with thinking Aldon Smith was a reach (I didn’t think it was), it’s about knowing what system a player is best suited for.

hey finhead question why do you believe Coples cant be a olb?
I heard hes 6’6 and runs a 4.75 and kind of reminds me of Mario Williams from the texans
Coples is a big guy and runs well for his size, but his closing burst is not up there with Mario
Mario had Peppers-type athleticism and not only did he have great speed and pass rushing moves, but could also change his direction quickly. Coples has the quick first step, but overall doesn’t have the athletic gifts of Mario or Peppers. He wreaks havoc in the gaps, but he won’t be able to blow by the OTs if you put him at a OLB.
I have confidence Coples can be a great player as a 4-3 DT, 4-3 DE, or 3-4 DE. I just don’t see a future for him as a 3-4 OLB.

I don't see Soliali as a Phin next year
Hope to resign Langford and Merling
Move Starks to inside (again)
other signs and draft picks sound very good
Merling is gone
What has a done for us. Take away the Interception vs Favre. Starks is a monster as a end and if we ever did go to a 4-3 then i understand moving Starks and Odrick inside.

Soliai sucks....
If we sign any guy that size we would be doing better next year because he is just a big body, with virtually no skill or speed. Do not say that big guys can not be big or explosive. Watch any of the premier guys and they are just that. If we are going to spend big money, we need to get value for that. We need a guy like Antonio Garay. Aside from a franchise QB this is our biggest free agency need. If we sign him we are clear to draft Melvin Ingram at 8(Coples is a 4-3 DT.. not a DE… and he is not fast enough to be a 3-4 OLB)
We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

Melvin Ingram is better than Courtney Upshaw imho....
you don’t have to believe me .. just know that I am right…

Upshaw is the product of great coaching and a really good defense...
Melvin Ingram is a freak of nature…

Soliai definetly does not suck,
but there is no way he takes 4 years 25 million. Someone else will pay him much more.

God I hope we can knock the Jets out of the playoffs, I couldn't imagine despising a team and fan base more.
Go Dolphins!
I actually do think Coples will prob be a bust and I also think Flynn is just a product of his situation in GB
so I wouldnt personally be a fan of this senario. I do like the Scott signing and the Sanchez picks though…
