It's that time of the year again so what more of an appropriate post than one that examines all the winners in Superbowl history.
The way I organized these winners of Superbowl's past is by record. A team that went 2-2 in the Superbowl trumps a team that went 2-0. A team that went 1-2 trumps a team that went 0-4 because of the win. So, two teams with the same amount of wins gets ranked by their Superbowl losses. The more appearances, the further up the list you go. Why did I organize it this way? Due to the fact that just getting to the Superbowl is a feat of its own.
1. Steelers (6-2)
2. Cowboys (5-3)
3. 49ers (5-0)
4. Packers (4-1)
5. Patriots (4-3) or (3-4) Depending on the outcome of Superbowl
6. Giants (4-1) or (3-2) Depending on the outcome of Superbowl
7. Raiders (3-2)
8. Redskins (3-2)
9. Broncos (2-4)
10. Dolphins (2-3)
11. Colts (2-2)
12. Rams (1-2)
13. Bears (1-1)
14. Chiefs (1-1)
15. Ravens (1-0)
16. Jets (1-0) (Superbowl III) Been a while ey Jets' fans?
17. Bucs (1-0)
18. Saints (1-0)
19. Vikings (0-4)
20. Bills (0-4)
21. Eagles (0-2)
22. Bengals (0-2)
23. Titans (0-1)
24. Seahawks (0-1)
25. Chargers (0-1)
26. Panthers (0-1)
27. Falcons (0-1)
28. Cardinals (0-1)
That leaves four teams without a Superbowl appearance. They are the Browns, Lions, Jags, and Texans.
The top 5 teams have 33 Superbowl appearances, collectively. This is out of 46 Superbowls mind you.
The Dolphins sit at 10th place, as of 2012, with a (2-3) record in the big game. Not too shabby.
SB VI - Dallas 24, Miami 3
SB VII - Miami 14, Washington 7
SB VIII - Miami 24, Minnesota 3
SB XVII - Washington 27, Miami 17
SB XIX - San Francisco 38, Miami 16
Hopefully Coach Philbin brings us some more Lombardi Trophies in the future...the very near future.
