Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday Countdown that the Cardinals and Dolphins will be among the teams that pursue Peyton Manning should he become available.

Manning's health is obviously a huge stumbling block, but if he's medically cleared we fully expect Peyton to hit the open market as a free agent after his $28M roster bonus in denied. According to Mort, the Fins will target Manning "above all other names," including free agent Matt Flynn. Per Schefter, Arizona's interest in Manning is "the real deal," and Cardinals brass would feel better about the acquisition after Kurt Warner's late-career success in the desert.

With a healthy Peyton Manning

We are SB contenders for the next 3 years. He is about the same age as Brady and Brady is still tearing it up.

But please, ALL teams (that need a QB) will be going after Manning, so I don’t really see this as breaking news.

Didn't really consider it BREAKING NEWS

however "the Fins will target Manning “above all other names” is a very telling statement. I understand that all teams needing a QB will be in the hunt but the statement above combined with Ross saying “finding a franchise QB is 1st on our agenda” makes Peyton to Miam a really GOOD possiblity.

Then we could get Tannehill in the second

Let Manning groom him.

I read Mike Sherman might come in as OC

If that’s the case, he coached Tannehill at A&M so drafting the kid might not be out of the question

Now that it looks like Chip Kelly is taking the Bucs job

Mike Sherman as Miami Dolphin’s next OC sure makes sense to me. It would be a good hire in my opinion.

forget drafting a RT that high...

The only person in the league that thought Columbo was a good RT was Sparano. I honestly think if we had Long available Bowles would have replaced Columbo with John Jerry. John Jerry is a good enough RT to make our offensive line much much better. If we do that we can skip drafting yet another lineman in the first round and get a difference maker either on offense(I doubt Blackmon drops to us but if he does you pull the trigger), or defense with a guy like Melvin Ingram. Hopefully, Dontari Poe will drop to us in the 2nd round and we can shore up our NT for a long time.

We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

Wow.

Ross has come a long way since the Harbaugh fiasco.

The media hasn’t hit on any of their predictions since then. I wonder if Irish is the leak?

Are you kidding?

No way Arizona get Manning. Their O-line was one of the worst in the NFL last season. I really think Manning will see our o-line, make a request that we shore it up in the draft/free agency, and then sign on the dotted line. He just better take a pay cut to come here.

good point ...

I mean, we do have the best offensive line of any of the teams that is looking for a QB and that includes the Jets. We really really need to showcase that as well as our defense.

Manning

Everyone is going to be after manning, and that is going to drive the price too high. Miami would be better off pursuing Flynn from the get go, assuming Philbin thinks Flynn is the answer.

Manning has made a tonne of money.

Now I’m not saying he would pay for pennies, he wouldn’t. But he’s just come off a bad injury. He will want to make sure he is fully protected. He also wants to win. I think we offer the best scenario for him, unless someone like the 49ers went after him, which could be a possibility.
