Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

This is very interesting. It seems the Rams are considering cutting RT Jason Smith. Smith has played pretty well since being drafted, but certainly hasnt lived up to being the #2 pick. With the Rams likely to draft Kalil (if the keep the #2 pick) and move Staffold to RT, Smith could possibly be cut due to his massive contract. If cut, Smith could possibly be a decent option for us. He does have a bit of an injury history and he isnt an elite RT, but he is above average (and young) and would prevent us from using another 1st round pick on the O-Line. I personally think John Jerry is the answer at RT for us, just thought I'd suggest another option...

Couldn't hurt?

Sign him! What does Miami have to lose? Let Smith and John Jerry compete for the RT spot. If it saves Miami a high draft pick to be used elsewhere, so much the better!

In case you missed the Rams season,

RT was a HUGE HUGE issue this season. Worse than ours. There is a reason a 2nd overall pick is being cut.

Yea...I'm pretty sure I was busy watching the Dolphins do their best to lose...lolol

Even though I still stand by my statement…I wasn’t aware that he was that bad. I thought you were refering to their whole Oline as shitty, therefor making JS a shitty RT.

Jason Smith only played in 6 games at RT

The last being week 7 and had a positive rating in his last 2 games (by PFF).

well, like I said, I think Jerry is the answer. But i dont think it could hurt to consider Smith and maybe, if he is cheap, have him compete with Jerry...

I say, bring him in...see what he's about.

I’m sure all of us could agree almost any RT starter out there is better then our current RT starter. Ofc this all depends on who we keep and get rid of, and if JS is a FA…

I believe JS has to pass through the wavier wire.

I've never really understood all of that crap. It always confuses me...

Otherwise I would put together a wishlist of players I wanted…lolol

Have to look it up but I think that only applies during the season.

I don’t recall all the players that get cut once the league year starts in March having to go through the waiver wire process. Again, will have to research it to be sure.

Comes down to how many years as a pro he has. He has 3 I believe. So he would have to pass through waviers I believe.

I believe you are right

My one problem of claiming him off the waiver is that I believe we would have to pick him up on his original contract.

I doubt anyone would pick him up on his original contract

especially being the #2 pick before there was a rookie cap

Interesting. The FA looks to be gearing up and may prove good for the Dolphins....
