Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

He is a free agent this offseason, and uncase Gates doesn't work out he could give us that downfield threat.

I also would be very happy if we could get Stevie Johnson from the bills, hes clearly their best receiver and would do wonders opposite of Marshall. Plus I love this guys charisma, especially when mocking plaxico and pretending to crash jet into ground. That earned my respect, not to mention he kinda owns Revis. throw RG3 or Flynn into the mix and our offense would be deadly.
What you guys think?

Robert Meachem

Thats who the first part was. Srry.

Either would provide a pretty substantial upgrade I think

Although Hartline I would say is more consistent than Stevie Johnson, albeit Johnson more of a playmaker. Robert Meachem I can’t say much about, I always get him and Marques Colston and Devery Henderson mixed up…they’re always making plays.

Colston is the best out of all of them

He has B.Marshall type numbers with more TD’s. He’s also similar in body being 6’4" 225. We might not need 2 of the same type of players, but who would you double team. I think they’d be better then the duo of Jackson and Floyd of the Chargers. Colston want be cheap though.

Except the Safeties wouldn't have to play deep.

Both of them wouldn’t be as dynamic a duo as you think. I think players like Mario Manningham, Robert Meachem, and Braylon Edwards would be the best options.

Please no Braylon Edwards...

to me he is a bad version of Marshall. I would much rather add a deep threat with speed across from BM. I really like the other guys you mentioned (Manningham and Meachem), but there are a bunch of other WRs to consider. For example, Pierre Garcon or Laurent Robinson. All four of those guys should come pretty cheap. Then there are even cheaper options like Eddie Royal and Jerome Simpson. But at the right price, my favs are Manningham, Meachem, and Garcon.

I'm not a fan of Edwards.

He is a deep threat though, but he’s a risk with character concerns.

True

Um, Meachem is kinda like Mike Wallace. He is a vertical threat, and has that big play ability. But both would make me happy to see in a Phin uniform.

Actually I'm pretty sure their "deep guy" is Devery Henderson

every receiver in that offense is a "deep guy"

even Colston, with average speed for a receiver, catches a lot of deep passes. The Brees effect (or is it affect?… whatever its close enough)…

Sign free agent WR

Miami would be well advised to sign as good a WR as they can find.

I think the best free agent WR is Colston

Will Players Actually Want To Come To Miami

This is my biggest fear, we need some Good FAs this year, how many will we get with the mess that the team is in right now…

If we signed him...

It’s not in case Gates doesn’t work out. Johnson’s contract would demand he’s a starter. Gates would have no chance to compete for the job. He’s too pricy of an option. Manningham, Meachem, and Edwards would be fine targets at a much better price.

I really like Meachem because he is a deep threat with size and he should come pretty cheap, but I do like Pierre Garcon a bit more

he is the same type of player and is 2 years younger. The only thing with Garcon is he might want a bit more money than Meachem. In all honesty though, I would be happy with Garcon, Meachem, or Manningham. All three would open up the offense by providing a deep threat. I am not on board with Johnson though. He will cost way too much and doesnt really have the speed to open the offense IMO

By the time B.Marshall is ready to "call it quits" he will have 2 superbowls rings, a suerbowl MVP & at least 4 more probowls

He will have records, that “the elite” own exclusively!
