Ross is an Idiot!!!
Now I know I might get slammed for this but I must speak my mind on this whole issue. I remember when Wayne Huizenga told the press that he was selling the team to Steven Ross and I thought "Wow this franchise is going to be in the hands of a rich fan" this is not good and now it is true, we just lost our season our head coach offensive Corridnator and now our Defensive corridnator, what's next our most valuable players!! I believe that fans should never own a team, they take it too personal I believe they should be owned by money hungry business people who want to win to make and earn more money. I believe that Ross had a chance to turn this franchise around two years ago, and it didnt work out. He went on his fanbase instict and hired what the fans thought would be the best for the team (Parcells, Ireland, Sporano.) now I am glad that Parcells is gone but I think firing Sporano was a mistake, this guy was just getting started to turn this team around now. I believe that firing Ireland would have been the better thing to do he brings in old batterd and used up Dallas players that shouldn't even be here plus the descisions he makes isn't the best ones for this organization needs. If we are going to be a true contender then we must start at the top and that is with ross and Ireland sell the team to a better owner and fire Ireland and bring in a GM guru like Polian or buy one from a championship team.

Just look at all the teams who have won championships in the last few years, they are run by owners who are fans of their teams

So you don't like having a fan as an owner because it seems a fan is not a great person to make decisions...
But we should list to another fan? Hello, Pot?

If you were the owner do you think this would be a better team or would you bring in the specialist that know what to do in thiese matters.
If it ain't Miami Dolphins it's Crap!!!
You need to check the timeline.
When Ross took over the team in 2009, Parcells, Sparano, and Ireland were already here (being hired in 2008).
Next – we lost our offensive coordinator? Has Daboll been hired somewhere and I haven’t heard it? Either way, when you fire a head coach, you fire the entire staff. Nolan and Daboll were gone the moment Sparano was fired. Why would they stay? Why would a new coach want to keep the old staff – you know, the staff that got a head coach fired?
Finally, wouldn’t a fan be EXACTLY the person you want? I don’t think Ross made the money to buy the team (remember, it cost a BILLION for him to get the Dolphins) by accident. He likes to make money. He wants to make money. He knows the team winning is the best way to make money. People give him shit for making all the “entertainment” and minority owners deals because he appears to be only concerned with making money. If he’s a fan, then he wants to enjoy his team winning as well. Being a fan of the team you own is very important. Otherwise, you are Wayne Huizenga with the Marlins – in it simply for the investment.

I was in the process of saying nearly the same thing, you just said it better, as always. lol
Oh and Parcells was actually hired in 2007, before the end of the season. :P
Also, this is fanshot not fanpost material, it ruins fanposts that people actually put a lot of work into.
Mosul, is it time for the “rules” to be posted again? There seems to be a lot of fanposts lately that should be fanshots and I know there are a lot of newer people that may not know the rules (or the differences between a fanshot & fanpost).
agreed on the recent activity of fan posts.
you should only be allowed to post a fan post once per week and after you have takent he time to read others first.

How to does posting a fanpost "ruin" other fanposts?
Is it because there is so much room for more posts on the fanshot page? Or is it because the fanpost page doesn’t default to sorting by most active/popular posts?
Some people spend days (if not weeks) working on fanposts
if there is a flood of fanposts that contain little thought or work it shoves the well organized and well thoughtout fanpost off the feed and people miss out.
This fanpost is the example of a fanshot. Just because it meets the minimum words doesn’t make it fanpost worthy.
Use Fan Posts for in depth analysis, stories, or anything else. It keeps the site organized and makes sure people read the right things.
http://www.thephinsider.com/2011/8/3/2341163/the-phinsider-rules-and-guidelines
So it is your contention that this fanpost doesn't qualify as in depth analysis, story, or ANYTHING ELSE?
Again, how do people miss out? The most active fanposts are always listed on top.
And please explain objectively what makes this fanpost not worthy.
Here is an example of what a fanpost should look like: http://www.thephinsider.com/2012/1/4/2681081/my-ideal-offseason
Here is an example what a fanshot is: http://www.thephinsider.com/2012/1/17/2715053/he-is-a-free-agent-this-offseason-and-uncase-gates-doesnt-work-out-he#comments
Now tell me which does this fit into? This is perfectly fine for a fanshot which is for links, quotes, images, video, lists or chat. This should have been a fanshot under “chat”, just open a new fanpost and a new fanshot, look at the editor, see the difference?
The most active fanposts are always listed on top.
It’s the most recent that are on top, so if someone writes a long writeup like Jason Scott_90 that puts a lot of work into it last night and this morning 10 people write a fanpost consisting of 100 or so words with something about agreeing or not agreeing with the latest Dolphins news his post that he put a lot of work into gets pushed off the page and only the people that check this blog daily (or several times a day) might have seen his post.
Just because a post consists of verbal diarrhea it does not make it fanpost material.
As a rule of thumb you should use this part of the quote above not the “anything else”
Use Fan Posts for in depth analysis
I don't know what you guys' setting s are but
when I click on FanPosts, it defaults to showing the 25 most Recently Active posts. And they are not sorted by recs.
10 people are not going to push a popular, well-written fan post off the first page.
Your taking about most recently active as in the last post to have activity............
That is much different from their position on the front page where most people go and most items are seen. Once they fall from there they die.

The most active fanposts ARE NOT sorted to the top. Those are the ones with the most rec's which are not
exclusive to one another. There is a reason that there is a fan shot vs a fan post section!

This is fine. who cares.
Mosul found it interesting enough to comment on and didn’t care about it being a fanshot or fanpost. Let’s not start with this crap again. It’s ridiculous. So what some people spend “days” on fanpost, some people don’t and their posts are better and as well as the reverse. You guys get too legalistic about this. I felt like this was good enough to be a fan post, just because you didn’t doesn’t mean it’s law.

I was just about to say this,
only putting it slightly better. Your version will do though, I suppose.
Agree.
Ross may not be the best owner, but I don’t think he is the worst either. He is willing to spend money and is not overly meddling in personnel.
In reality, the guy has yet to put his stamp on this franchise. Hopefully, this coaching hire does that in a positive way. I’m willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for now.
The unfortunate thing is we have no choice
I’m willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for now.
He’s the one the spent the billion dollars or whatever it cost to buy the team and it’s not like he can be fired. lol
I don’t think he’s a bad owner either, he has made some head scratchers and I think he learned some really hard lessons, especially in the Harbaigh saga but overall he has a good vision going forward. The guy wants to win and make going to Dolphins games exciting for the fans, I fail to understand what there is to hate about that.
I agree. I think it wise to try and give the guy some support. He wants to win and is willing to do whatever to get there.
I also believe his passing on giving in to Fisher in order to land him is a plus on his side. So far we have seen what letting Fisher have full say.

I'd rather have an owner that makes mistakes but truly
cares about the team and wants to win than an owner that just wants a tax writeoff to take his business prospects to.
I agree. I like how many fans refuse to forgive him for any mistake that he has made as if they are somehow
perfect themselves. As long as he learns from them as he moves along I am good.

The only mistake I think he has made
is with the Harbaugh situation. The minority owner thing is a little weird but I don’t see it as a mistake. Other than that everything else he inherited when he bought the team.
The Tebow things was a mess too. I think he is listening to some of his "football" people and thinking
some of these things are a good idea based on trust and then finding out the hard way that maybe they are not.

Definitely some head scratchers
The whole pushing of the Jimmy Buffet theme song was a bit strange too, but all this stuff is pretty trivial. Nothing a couple of winning seasons wouldn’t solve.
I agree. Win and all is forgiven.

Mine was a little more curt, so I refrained when Mosul said the same thing just a little “nicer” lol
I'd rather have an owner with deep pockets, and a love for the team he owns, than some guy who could care less
and is just looking for a tax shelter ! Ross wants to win, he just needs guidance. Don’t think he’s gonna listen to us though, and frankly i’m glad. What the hell do we know about the day to day operations of owning a huge organization . He is not going to sell out because you or anyone else doesn’t like what he is doing.

As to the original poster...
I agree with you. Ross doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s frequently found himself in the spotlight for making questionable decisions… Those decisions not only affect the current staff, but any potential future candidates… They pay attention to it, and would rather go work for a better owner. As such, we are left to pick from the crop (opposed to the cream of the crop)… and will remain a mediocre franchise until he’s gone.
Here’s a quote from Jeff Fisher regarding his choice to pick the Rams over the Fins. “I had two factors,” Fisher said. “One was a good owner. The other was a good quarterback.”
Thank you Jeff for clearing that up for everyone else that thinks otherwise.
Question:
Jeff, what was one of the main factors in your decision?
When I set out, I made this statement about a month ago, I had 2 factors, one was a good owner, the other was a QB.
He didn’t say anything negative against Ross or the Dolphins.
We don’t have a QB, so that must mean that Ross isn’t a good owner, right? You also notice sitting right beside Fisher is Kevin Demoff the Executive Vice President of Football Operations who just so happens to be his agents brother. I am sure that didn’t play any part in his choice either, right?
I'm pretty sure he is saying that he thinks the St. Louis owner is a "good owner" and...
the Dolphins owner… not so much.
To say that Sam Bradford is any better than Matt Moore at this point is ridiculous.
You're hearing what you want to hear
So if he came to Miami and said the same thing it would mean St. Louis has a bad owner? I think not.
Sam Bradford > Matt Moore
I don't think so...
Sam Bradford > Matt Moore
Sam Bradford:
CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG TD LNG INT FUM RAT
2011 Regular Season 191 357 2,164 53.5 6.06 6 68 6 6 70.5
Career 545 947 5,676 57.6 5.99 24 68 21 12 74.2
Matt Moore:
CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG TD LNG INT FUM RAT
2011 Regular Season 210 347 2,497 60.5 7.20 16 65 9 9 87.1
Career 437 739 5,137 59.1 6.95 32 66 26 15 80.1
Matt is better in every category… I’m pretty sure Fisher was talking about Ross.
LMAO
So you’re basing Bradford on 2011, the year he was injured most of the year with no OL and no weapons to throw to?
How about we compare 2010 then (Bradfords rookie year BTW)
Moore:
GP CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD LNG INT FUM RAT
6 79 143 55.2 857 5.99 5 39 10 4 55.6
Bradford:
GP CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD LNG INT FUM RAT
16 354 590 60.0 3,512 5.95 18 49 15 6 76.5
Moore only played 6 games because he lost his starting job to Jimmy Clausen. There are only about 10 QB’s that I would take over Bradford if given the opportunity (maybe even less). St. Louis has a franchise QB, we do not.
Well...
I put up the Career numbers as well as the 2011 numbers (because that’s what was displayed) on the site I used.
Moore beats him in Career stats as well. The numbers are the numbers.
If a career 74.2 Passer Rating is what you would call a “Franchise QB” then I am glad you are not running the team. Bradford has yet to do anything impressive in his career, which is why I said: “To say that Sam Bradford is any better than Matt Moore at this point is ridiculous.”
Fisher was definitely talking about Ross.
The difference is:
St. Louis is trying to build the team around Sam Bradford which is what you do with a franchise QB. The Miami Dolphins are trying to find a replacement for Matt Moore, not what you do if you think you have a franchise QB.
Here is a quote to squash your thinking about what Fisher thinks of Ross:
Fisher, according to a source familiar with his thinking, left South Florida on Tuesday with stone crabs in his stomach and a very positive impression of Ross and the Dolphins’ organization.
:|
Fisher, according to a source familiar with his thinking…
Uhh ya, straight from the horse’s mouth… well not really, but someone that thinks like a horse.

I have no problem with Ross being a "fan"
My problem is that he’s obviously doing something wrong as an owner if guys he coveted like Harbaugh and Fisher chose to go elsewhere. It’s sad how far our franchise has fallen. At the turn of the century, I’d rank the Miami Dolphins as a franchise behind only a few others: Pittsburgh, Dallas, Green Bay, San Francisco, and maybe Oakland. I’d base that ranking on things like success (both current and through the years), fanbase, relevance, and how the franchises “go about their business.” But now, ten years later, I’d concede that New England, New York Giants, and even Indianapolis have all passed us out.
Yeah, I wish we had owner like Daniel Snyder or Jerry Jones.
Those guys can, and do, buy anyone they want. And those franchises are doing so great.
I will never use a sarcasm box.
