Just a thought from a discussion. Did Miami not only blow the "Suck for Luck" movement, an idea I didn't support, not only blow our chances for Luck, but for Fisher as well? Would he have come to Miami if we had the #1 pick to get Luck? If so, what would you think of a Fisher-Luck tandem?

Finhead do you mean 1-15 this season.
Or Jeff Fisher coming to Miami, the Dolphins drafting Luck with the first overall pick and the team going 1-15 in 2012…..?
2008 AFC EAST Champions.
I meant would have a 1-15 season in 2011 landed Jeff Fisher because the job is more appealing with Luck?
If so, what would people think?

woosh
Pretty sure he said HAD gone 1-15. I was actually hoping when we were 0-6 we would just lay down, and hell r we in a better spot for winning 6 games? NO we are not, I would have been upset for awhile, I pay for the Sunday ticket, hate to watch my team of 25 years lose any game, but we would be the team that would have gotten Luck instead of where we r today… Think about it

Schottenheimer? Seriously?
Have you seen Fisher’s choices for coordinators? A guy who only has 6 winning seasons in 20 years of trying is reportedly grabing Brain Schottenheimer and Greg Williams as his OC and DC? I’m thinking we actually dodged a bullet here. Mike McCoy is far more interesting as a candidate. McCoy was in Carolina for 6 years as QB coach and Assistant OC when a mediocre talent like Delhomme looked like a great QB, then went to Denver and made a mediocre talent like Orton look great. (Not going to comment on Tebow though, God already doesn’t like me)
I definitely would not want Schotty.
Gregg Williams though is actually a good and very well respected DC. And I’m not saying I’d like it, just looking to build on something…

Becaue they have yet to fire Caldwell.
Fisher can’t choose a franchise that never contacted him.

I might understand your point and tex joke..
but the fact is that this post is all wroten on asumtion. That because we didnt get the 1st round overall pick, we lost Fisher and that my friend is a huge sumption.
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(Quarter of a Century and counting)
It wasn't written on assumption...
It was written asking people if they think in their opinion, Fisher would choose Miami over STL if they had the #1 overall pick.

The main problem is the notion of "sucking for" a goal
Is incoherent. It has no analogy to the real world. No NFL team will suck on purpose.
It was just fans hoping for a bad=good outcome, which is fine, but no one “blew” anything (or anyone alpha), by trying to do their jobs.

True...
But there were a few blown gaskets around here during the losing AND winning of the Dolphins. A most ‘strange’ phenomena….

Why would you want to renew this argument?
This is only going to stir people up around here. I think that it is irresponsible considering how divided the S4L argument made many of us on this site. There are still people who wont post often because of the arguments made. I am dissappointed that it was brought back up on the front page.

You can ease your concerns.
The discussion won’t be towards the top for long and I don’t expect it to be a lengthy and very heated discussion. The season is over and the heated arguements over whether or not to try and win the next game is over. It’s just revisionist history now so I don’t expect them to be nearly as heated. It was just a strange question that was asked of me before.

Fisher is a f-ing re-tread
Who thinks he’s better than his record actually shows. Im glad we didn’t get him because we wouldve most definitely been looking at 3-4 years of mediocrity at the least. How many times did Houston / Tennesee win the SB in 16 years with Fisher at the helm. Id much rather take a chance on Philbin or Carmichael Jr. and hope to find a diamond in the rough.
As for Luck / RG3. Sell the farm to move up to get one of them. Get a solid right tackle via free agency and I think we will be headed in the right direction. WE HAVE NOT DRAFTED A 1ST RD QB SINCE MARINO. that is one reason we have not solidified the QB position since Marino retired. And who better to take a chance on than Luck / RG3.
As for going 1-15 for Luck. Fuck that. I feel good about our team right now and how our team gelled mid to late season that we definitely are headed in the right direction with a few missing pieces (QB, RT, Safety) added. I mean we almost beat the Patsies in NE. Had we gone 1-15 we would have been the laughing stock of the NFL. the last half of the season at least gave a little excitement and taste of whats to come with the right management / coaching and pieces added.

Right
Look at the close games we lost. We could have easily been a 10 win team this season! If we had made a coaching switch sooner, the Dolphins may have made the playoffs. I see getting a RB, or DB versus getting Luck. RG3 yes because I think he will in the long run be the better QB! Luck knee and ability to perform under pressure in my opinion is a Romo in the making!
Fisher and Luck would be the next Mora and Manning

LUCK is WAY Over Rated
First the Andrew Luck call is way too much for a QB that has failed on the College level to win big games against fast tough defenses. Luck will be average at best in the NFL! He was not impressive enough to win the Heisman! A key concern for all NFL teams that may draft him is the big brace he still wears on his knee, how mobile can he be against the NFL pass rush and the blitz. For any NFL team to purposely blow a season for LUCK is ridiculous! He is for sure no Cam Newton and will not put up the type of numbers Cam has as a rookie. If teams want to win now, with a college QB he must be mobile, fast, can throw in and out of the pocket and most of all smart. Because of the media today we have lost patients with giving QB’s two or three years to get use to the level of play in the NFL! I say let another team take the cob webs out with Luck pick him up after his 4th season and then maybe, just maybe you have a franchise QB! Bring in a quality Back-up that has proven he can win first in the NFL while you work with a rookie only if and only if he is of the same quality of a Cam Netwon, and no not necessarily RG3! Use your number one pick to get Trent Richardson or Monte Ball! Just my opinion and I have been a Dolphin fan for 20 years! There are QB’s that we can get without wasting a first round draft pick on. In a pass happy NFL having a quality running back opens your offense up to be more of a threat unless you have Tom Brady!
WHO CARES!!
What a stupid premise. Fisher isn’t worth all this moral destroying poopoo, and if you are someone that goes to the games why would you even think about wanting to lose all the games? Concentrate on reality and save your fantasies for Disney World
Miami has the Dolphins the greatest footbal team...We move the ball from goal to goal etc... yeah yeah yeah
