Miami Dolphins Coach Search - Fan Poll
The Miami Dolphins continue to interview potential candidates for their head coaching position following the decision by Jeff Fisher to head to the St. Louis Rams. The Dolphins continued that search yesterday when they interviewed the Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
McCoy marks the fifth candidate other than Fisher to be interviewed. The Dolphins have talked to their interim head coach Todd Bowles, Chicago Bears special teams coach Dave Toub, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, and Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Miami is also thought to be setting up an interview with New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, Jr.
But, of those candidates, who do the fans like the most? It's your turn to vote.

I don't know that much about any of these guys to be honest...
They could be an amazing OC or DC and be a terrible head coach(see Cam Cameron). Unless it is a guy like Brian Billick or Chucky, we really can’t even say who is the best candidate. I wish we as fans got to see the interviews….
We had [Brady] down… but we didn’t kick him. We helped him up and gave him a PowerPuff Girls band-aid for his knee. What exactly did you expect would happen when we did that?

Check with Belichick
He most likely has it on film….
Zimmer, the Bengle fans don't want to lose him...passion, fire, players love him....
commands respect….Carmichael has been part of an fantastic offense but also has the league’s top QB’s + tons of talent…which make him look better but who knows??
My first take is now Zimmer!
I saw the same reactions all over about Zimmer
I have read a lot of good things, Bengals fans don’t want us to hire him for the simple fact they don’t want to lose him. They have said it would be the best decision they have seen from the Dolphins FO in a while. Chud and PC are my 2 favorite but I would be happy with Zimmer.
I'm down with Zimmer too
i voted for him.

I agree 100%
One of my best friends is a Bengals fan, and all of those guys love Zimmer. The players also really love the guy and HE PRODUCES. With the limited evidence I have, I’d say Zimmer is the best choice of the bunch.
Miami has the Dolphins

I went for Joe Philbin,
but I went on name alone. Sounds like a successful head coach to me.
Philbin
But I think I’d be happy with Carmichael as well…that being said though, I don’t know a whole heck of a lot about them…other than that they were involved with some higher octane offences…

Cordy who do you think built those hi-octane offices. The old GM. for the G.B.Packers wants Flynn, out in Seattle with him. If we could just block that deal & get Flynn for ourselves then less burden on new coach!

flynn
We should be praying for Flynn to come to Miami, IMO that is more important then the coach, weather, its carmicheal, philiban, or mccoy, or someone else. We need a QB long term. If G.b doesn’t franchise him which I doubt they will or can afford to, and Flynn hits the market and we miss out on him I’m burning my Ted ginn jersey lol..

Carmichael
…followed by McCoy, then Philbin.

I want to say Zimmer
but if getting Philbin means Flynn comes here too, I have to go that route. I am just so scared that we are risking another Cam Cameron incident. Oh well. Chip Kelly for President…err…I mean head coach.

They are all unproven and a roll of the dice.
That is how far this franchise has fallen in the eyes of the rest of the league.
Philbin – Longtime OL coach, now the “official” Offensive Coordinator, but who does not call his team’s plays.
Carmichel – Didn’t call his team’s plays until the HC got hurt.
McCoy – So green around the league not much is known about him. His most noteworthy item? He calls plays for Tim Tebow.
Zimmer – Has run a 4-3 for most of his career, while our team is built for the 4-3. That, and defense wasn’t our issue. If we wanted a DC for HC, just interview Mike Nolan who has at least been a HC before.
Bowles – Why would he leapfrog Mike Nolan as a candidate?
Toub – A Special Teams coach? Has never called Offensive or Defensive plays for a team. What really qualifies him as a HC.
Ross has bungled this franchise to the point that we have had our expectations for a Head Coach to such an extreme degree, that we are left with, at best, 3rd tier candidates. They don’t want anyone to come in and be any sort of a challenge to Jeff Ireleand. I’m not anti-Ireland, but what has he done to warrant being given the keys to a (once) great franchise like the Dolphins?
I’ve been a huge Dolphin fan for 43 years, and I’ve never been this disappointed in the state of the franchise. Its disheartening.
I'm playing by the rules of what we have
I don’t want a defensive minded coach, so that puts Zim at the bottom. If we do take one, wer may as well take the guy wer have in house, which is why Bowles is ahead of Zim. Toub doesn’t impress me at all, but he is on the list, which is why he is also at the bottom UNDER a large gap.
So, left with the offensive options, Philbin and Pete are in great systems and learning from winning coaches who aren’t usually outcoached. They are tied in my opinion, with a miniscule edge to Philbin for the outside hope of Flynn.
As for McCoy, he has shown an ability AND willingness to tailor a game to a QB and make the team successful. In the face of everyone saying what Tebow couldn’t do in the NFL and the spread option won’t work, Denver made it to the second round of the playoffs. You gotta respect that kind of determination.

None of the above...
….is my vote.
This team is close. An established coach can get this team to 9-7 or 10-6 next year, which could put us in the playoffs. Roll the dice again and you risk another Cam Cameron type year. That would be devastating.
Any of the HC’s I would want would not be comfortable for jeff Ireland, which means that they won’t get a sniff by this franchise.
And exactly who are you going to get?
Most of the young options aren’t HCs and would work with Ireland with no problem. Most of the experienced coaches are either coaching, sucked in their last attempt so they are coordinators somewhere, are retired and happy in a booth or too old to depend on for too long. Options are not too wide. Plus, Ireland is doing a good job of getting us talent, so I wouldn’t be do quick to diss him for a coach who could in turn walk out in a few years because the job isn’t what he really thought it would be.

Carmichael would give you and offfensively minded coach, but I thought Sean Payton actually called the offensive plays.
Something to think about.
The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.
Some people can learn from the mistakes of others, while some people need to pee on the electric fence themselves.
Belichick is looking for a new name for his boat: VI Rings sounds pretty good.

What about Hue Jackson?
He seemed to be able to work well in Oakland, which is known for being a completely uncoachable situation when Al Davis was alive. I know they had the most penalties and faded down the stretch, but at least he’s had experience as a coordinator and a head coach.
"Behold the pale horse. The man who sat on him was Death... and Hell followed with him."
Toub is now off the list...signed a 2 year with Chicago to stay....
need to get our asses moving and sign someone before they are all gone….Call Zimmer Please!
I went with Philbin for a few reasons....
the main reason of course is he’s an offensive guy,and while he does not call the plays he works with directly with A Rogers installing the game plan for the week.He is the voice in Rodger’s ear,and that can only Help groom our QB, weather it be Flynn Moore,or whoever we draft. Also if he does come,I believe Flynn we’ll be much easier to get…IMO.He comes from a franchise that seems to be run extremly well, and again that can only help him,and us moving forward.I also don’t believe he will try to blow up the defense, which any def minded coach that runs a 4-3 (Zimmer) will likely do.I love our defense, and I want to atleast keep that side of the ball intact as much as possible. The cherry in IMO is "if " he does come, and "if we get Flynn we can use the #1 pick on a good RT and shore up our line for years to come……………..Carmicheal would be my second choice, based on the same reasons
