You Can Help O-Line in Free Agency
Some want the Phins to draft an offensive lineman in the first round...I don't see why, we've done that twice in 4 years.
There will be great free agents available. Saints All Pro lineman Carl Nicks is a free agent, and supposedly will leave New Orleans. Dolphins would be morons to not go after him. It's just one example, I'm sure there will be others, I'm not really sure so if anyone knows other linemen hitting Free Agency, post it here.
Then trading up for RG3 seems like it makes even more sense.

Yes, going after Nicks is a must
And i think if we draft a RT in the 3rd-4th round to battle Murtha and Jerry at RT we’ll be good there also. Tired of wasting high picks on o-lineman. We have to do whatever it takes to go get RG3, but for some reason we get Flynn before draft we should trade back and grab the best OLB or WR available.
I got S + What a Dog's Tail Does.

Miami should definately pursue any free agents that could help the team. Nicks would be a great addition to the offensive line. Ben Grubbs, a guard for the ravens, is also a free agent.
Yeah, I don't know if we'll ever get a better opportunity to trade up for a QB with this potential
Trading back or staying put and selecting a lineman again when we can go after a really good, proven one in free agency doesn’t make much sense.
There are a lot of teams going to be trying to trade up for RG III. Thats going to drive the price up. Miami is much better off not trading up. Matt Moore has played good, and who knows how good he’ll play given a training camp. Plus Pat Devlin spent the year on the practice squad and Miami doesn’t know what he is capable of.
Not as confident
about Free Agents coming the Dolphins anymore.

If they really want Nicks I am sure Reggie would be
willing to help in the recruiting as it would benefit him as well. :)
There are 3 very good Guards available in FA with Nicks, Grubbs, and Scott.
There are not quality RTs available though. If Miami wants one, they have to draft one. Doesn’t mean it needs to be in the first round, but it is definitely possible.

Mike Adams could step in straight away. I don't know about Nicks. He'll be so expensive. Zeitler can start straight away at guard.
I don’t think we can really predict what will happen until we have coach in place.

There are a bunch of OTs that could at least compete for a starting job at RT right away.
As for RGs, Nicks and Grubbs will both be very expensive. If we can land Jake Scott though, I will be very happy. I could see him being had for an average of $4-6 mil per year. We do that and get a player in the 2nd or 3rd round, even someone like Nate Potter, then I will be happy.

The argument against this post:
You presumably can get a franchise QB in Free agency as well. Matt Flynn. I’m not disagreeing with you I’m just stating a neutral case.
I’m still undecided, although I would be happy with signing Flynn and drafting a RT. I’m not as high on Griffin as others, but I would still be excited if we traded up for him and signed a top OG like Nicks. But I don’t see alot of good OTs available.
Tajh Boyd and Dre' Ellington are the future.
Brandon Jennings; Just keep waiting people.
Good point! I think CB and RT are our biggest needs.
Sean Smith regressed, Vontae couldn’t stay healthy and Will Allen is getting old. We need a true #1 CB and this draft has a lot of talent at the position. We could trade back and get a CB in the bottom half of the 1st and a RT in the 2nd. Then we could use our other 2nd rounder (from the traded picks) for a TE,FS or WR (depending on BPA).

Matt Flynn was also picked in the 7th round, so
We would be throwing money at a guy and hoping he is Tom Brady and not Matt Cassel.
GB obviously has a great QB system. I don’t know if I trust Matt Flynn from one good game.
The only other possibility if not RG3 would be Peyton assuming he’s healthy. Obviously that’s short term, but at least we’d be contenders. Matt Flynn is probably just AJ Feely all over again.

Except they're very pricy.
Though we won’t find any quality RTs in FA. I’d be very happy going for LaRon Landry at FS as our high expense and making a run at Jake Scott for RG. If Janoris Jenkins slips to the 2nd, which I don’t think he will, I’ll be ecstatic. If not, I’m hoping a FS like Landry could do Smith a lot of good. Very good Safeties help their CBs a lot.
The reason for this is because it’ll plug a hole we’ve had and won’t be able to address via the draft and it’ll give our CBs a better chance. Plus it gives some time for players like Jimmy Wilson and Nolan Carroll to show what they can do. Maybe Wilson can push Smith in camp. If we sign an expensive CB though, it pushes Wilson towards the back of the CB depth and Carroll off the team, which wouldn’t be that devastating to me. Still, I’d prefer to let them compete and give them the help they need with a stud FS.

Oh, and a side benefit to Landry
We could always move him back to SS if we find another good FS once Bell is through with his career or regresses too much. Being that I said that I think both safety positions will play more like dual FS than FS-SS within the next few years, I would absolutely love that to happen!

I would not go after Nicks...
The only position on the o-line that was really a weakness was RT. I thought we played pretty well at G and certainly not band enough to justify giving out the biggest contract to a G ever (which is what Nicks may command). If you really want to improve at G, Jake Scott would be a more fiscally responsible option than Nicks. However, I really liked what I saw out of Jerry when he filled in for Long. I think he could be the answer at RT next year. I really believe the answer to out o-line “problem” is already on the roster. I would much prefer to go with Jerry and spend the money on players to fill other needs. For example, we could probably sign Pierre Garcon (or Robert Meachem), Michael Griffen, and Greg Olsen for the same money it would cost for Nicks. That sounds pretty good to me.

Also, I plan to write up what I would do this offseason hopefully in the next weeks or so (I've been waiting until after we sign a head coach)
So all my groupies can stay on the lookout for that…

Our success in landing FA's on the O-line has not been good.
Look at the performance of Alex Smith against NO. I believe that Matt Moore can play. Remember we should have beaten the Cowboys except for an errant snap. Every draft has to be approached differently. You have to look at the talent that is available at dif positions and this year OT is excellent. While Jerry performed well at times, he may not be the answer. Take a look again at SF’s roster and look at the number of 1st rd picks that they have on their roster. You build your roster thru the draft and we have a number of positions that need to be addressed. For instance, we traded for down in the 2010 draft and got Odrick and Misi. How many of you would like to have drafted Earl Thomas from Texas at FS, who has made the Pro Bowl? Look at the Patriots, in 2009, they had a chance to draft Clay Matthews at OLB. Have they resolved their pass rushing needs? The answer is that they have not done so. The key to any draft is the grade that the player has received from the scouts. Ask yourself this question about our current roster. How many players on our team on considered in the top 100 NFL players in 2011. We need to draft quality players not draft for quantity regardless of needs.

Nice as said "Quality", dont trade the next three years #1 picks just to move up this year. Infact lets take "sumone elses studs" the next two or three years, all we need is (a partner)!
