I was sitting in my friends basement today watching the Dolphins game. With me were three of my friends from work and their wives. One is a Bills fan and his wife is a 49ers fan, one is a Lions fan and his wife is a Cardinals fan the last one is a Seahawks fan and my self a Dolphins fan. The reason we watched Miami play was it was my week to pick the game. As I sat in that crowded basement watching the end of the game the Bills fan put his hand on my shoulder after i had taken off my Dolphins hat a dropped it on the floor and said to me "Todd(my name), don't ever stop being a supporter of the team you have been a fan of since you were a kid." Now I could have said "Easy for you to say your team is winning." But i listend to him go on about how he has bee a Bills fan for 40 years plus and I looked around the room at everyone wearing their respective teams colors. All of the teams represented in that room have been on the skids for awhile, mind the Cardinals who went to a Superbowl a few years ago, and the Seahawks who went to the playoffs last year. My point is this, I know how I felt Sunday afternoon as I watched my beloved Dolphins fall to 0-3 and I am sure many of the fans felt the same way, but keep cheering for them. Cheer for the O-line to make that extra block to spring a long run. Cheer for Chad Henne to make that good decision and applaude him for the way he has played for a city that all but threw him out, he has played well so far this season and I don't think many can dispute that fact. Cheer for the Recievers to run the correct routes and make the clutch catches, Cheer for the Backs to be patient and wait for a lane to open and make someone miss a tackle. Cheer on the Defense, they have been the bright spot the last two seasons for this team and tho they aren't playing as well right now they still need the fans to get behind them. For those of you who go to the games Cheer for those of us who can't due to distance or other reasons. Cheer for the Coaches to call the best play to get them into good positions, You don't have to like them but you're stuck with them.
One final thought:
Don't do what I did this afternoon. Wear your teams colors with pride, cuz eventually they will be back to how we remember them, atop the AFC East where they belong! Go Phins!
