Today's loss got you down ? Ya win some, ya lose some. Every teams fans in every sport go through it. Yet year in and year out, we keep hoping for that one, glorious,....championship season. Here is a look at some of my pictures through the years. Enjoy,.....
Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would find a career that allows me to travel from here to there, marry the girl of my dreams, and become so intertwined with the Miami Dolphins. But prior to all this there was a beginning to it all,...and over the years it just kind of snowballed into the present. Weird, strange at times,...and a lot of fun.
My Grandparents have had a profound influence on me. Grandma's love of taking picture and gift of gab are apparent. As well as Grandpa's fondness for taking the family on vacations via the car, hence traveling the country and making the most of my time at any given place. The 1st vacation I went on, Florida for my 5th birthday. And where did they take their young Grandson ? Marineland to see the Dolphin show.
Not sure about the whole bow & arrow thing, grandparents can have the coolest things to a kid.
Moving on,...in high school I was acquiring more Dolphins gear. Here it's Christmas and I got my Mom a brand new Dolphins mailbox via a mail order catalog (notice how I'm proudly putting the stickers on it for her). And she got me a new hockey helmet. I was 15 or 16 here,...
Here's the part of the story that's kind of a bummer, I could find all the pictures I was looking for. Missing are my 1st ever Dolphin game in Detroit, where we rented an RV and filled it with half my friends and half my Mom's friends. I think about 14 of us made that trip. And another time in Detroit, in the mid 80's, I rocked the Zumba Dolphin spandex and my ever perfect mullet. Oh well, I still got some beauties.
I knew early on that a road trip to Canton was a place I could learn more about my favorite team.
I love this pic because of the memories it gives me. Long story short, it was my 1st trip to Miami for a game. I went with another buddy and we stayed over by Ft Lauderdale Beach. The plans was we where going to wait for another buddy who was driving in from a few hours away. We spent that time at Solid Gold ( home of the "friction dance",...during happy hour). He never made it and we got a late start getting to the game for obvious reasons. I was giddy upon getting to the stadium amidst gridlock, my buddy was F'n losing his mind ( wanted to park & piss at the same time while stuck in traffic ). Once parked we made our way toads the stadium when we came across a street vender selling beer out of a cooler. Business was bad until I announced a half off sale to the throng of people standing around him. His look was priceless as he was then swamped ! This pic was taken right after that. It was a MNF affair against the Steelers, and I was rocking my John Offerdahl jersey.
My 1st attempt at a mohawk, in Buffalo.
Here I got to give it up to the Toledo, Ohio Dolphins Fan Club ( yeah, the banner was my baby and I'll be taking to Cleveland).
Another short story here, about that Bud poster I'm holding. I want to say I was in Mildmay, Ontario for a hockey tourney when I came across this at the local sports bare in this one light town. The bartender caught me trying to steal it off the wall and about had a fit. Nothing a some smooth talk and a big tip could fix though. now I was the proud owner of a Dolphin specific Bud poster,......from Ontario.
I'll never forget my Mom's 1st trip to Joe Robbie ( actually I think it was Pro Player at that time,...not sure). We stayed with different friends but met up for lunch a Marino's Tavern in Ft Lauderdale riverwalk area. I'ld thought she had never been on vacation before,....so excited to eat at his restaurant. I
Her excitement there was nothing compared to how she sounded when I was talking to her and guiding her to our parking spot. I remember how I felt the 1st time I saw the stadium,.....an overwhelming sense of excitement and awe. Then she about fainted when she saw this,....
I mentioned cold weather games, another from tailgating in Buffalo with a small group from Toledo. I kew I was in for trouble when I arrived at my seat to find 2"of solid ice frozen to the aluminum bench style seats. This was the game Ricky ran for over 200 yards and we still lost to add insult to injury.
Well,....if you go, you should take your dog. Sox has been to Marino's HOF, Detroit on Thanksgiving, Cincy for a Sunday night game, and 2 back to back home games. OK,....she didn't really attend the events as much as. More like guarded the RV.
There was a time when I would make signs to hold up as well,....I think this was a playoff game against the Ravens.
Dude had a custom tractor/lazy boy pushing a couch on wheels through our parking lot. I totally wanted a ride !!!
Now on to something a little different. Our wedding day. I'll skip most of it and get right to the reception. As you enter the hall this is what greeted you. It was a surprise she planned for me. Need less to say, I was blown away !!!
I mean really. Not in a million years would I thought I would have a Dolphins ice sculpture thingy at my wedding.
Good F'n times ! But, I like most people get married on a Saturday and bet your ass I was at Pat & Dandy's on Sunday. We left for Jamaica on Monday, there I had a wooden Miami Dolphin craved for me ( as they were so good a doing dolphins, I just needed one with a helmet).
(yes,...I had him white out the dot and replace it with an "M")
Because she HATES rainy weather, and she HATES cold weather even more ! On this day it was both cold and rainy. So, this year will be our 5th coming to Florida and you've seen the pic from those adventures. This was the older stuff.
If I know one thing, it's i'm not going to be here for a long time, so I damn well better have a good time.
And,....I'm might be 46 years old, but I will always remain perpetually young.
It's been a great ride so far. I can't imagine how much fun will be had over the next twenty plus years,.....
I'll see ya around,...
