Not bad.

Like to see Jimmy Wilson and Nate Ness make the team. just not sure who would come off.

by Miamiman on Aug 8, 2011 10:04 AM EDT reply actions

Sapp for Ness, Culver for WIlson

Ness plays 2 positions and ST’s. He’s more valuable as a 4th/5th corner. Cheaper too. Like the article said Culver is gonna have to beat out Wilson for his spot. That’s saying alot for a 7th rd. pick in his first year

With the 15th pick, the Miami Dolphins select John Stamos....'s brother

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

by Souwantmyname on Aug 8, 2011 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Its impressive the impact

that he has made after going in the 7th. From how well he is doing in camp it looks like a steeep uphill battle for Culver. tough to compete with a guy who already has 3 or 4 INTs as well as batting up another to Jones. Culvers going to have to step it up to keep that spot.

by AcolyteofRa on Aug 8, 2011 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

We are really just waiting for Clemons and Jones to mature and learn the position

That is basically inevitable at this point. I don’t think Wilson is a physically gifted as those 2

With the 15th pick, the Miami Dolphins select John Stamos....'s brother

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

wilson better than both jones and clemons

he was suppose to go in the 2nd round but he went to jail, they will give him a year to learn the defense

if it is to be it is up to me

Haha man i love the hyperbole

Wilson was lucky to be drafted but is somehow better than Jones and Clemons..Ok

you may not of known this

wilson when to jail he was wrong fully accused of murder, but talent wise he a better player than jones and clemon

if it is to be it is up to me

by biggaandbadda on Aug 8, 2011 1:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldnt either

really, he will probably see playing time this year and if he shows flashes that he could be the guy I can definetly see us trying to trade Bell or Cut him in favor of starting Wilson. Then since we seem to have luck on obtaining great young safties in the draft Id bet we draft one as Wilsons backup. I have a feeling we will be seeing Davis Smith Jones and Wilson out there shutting down passing games for years to come.

IMO, Shuler won't make the team again.

He hasn’t shown anything so far and only had 2 catches all of last year. I also think we only keep 2 TEs because we have Clay as a FB.

Moore seems to be standing out, while I only hear Wallace’s name every once in a while.

We need to keep 4 OGs, Jerry is safe for now.

We won’t keep two NTs. This will free up a spot for a backup C without cutting down to 3 OGs.

Pruitt needs to show improvement (which he hasn’t yet) in order to stay. I like Grigsby in his place.

I doubt we signed Fields to cut him

We cut Douglas and Grant last year because we had younger better prospects at the position. We need Soliai insurance and no I do not consider Starks that at all

Here's mine...

Offense 25
SE Marshall 6-4 230, Bess 5-10 190, Hartline 6-2 186
LT Long 6-7 317,
LG Pouncey 6-5 303, Chisholm 6-5 312
C Incognito 6-3 324, Berger 6-5 311
RG Carey 6-5 340, Garner 6-7 325
RT Murtha 6-7 315, Willis 6-6 304
TE Fasano 6-4 255, Brackett 6-5 248
QB Henne 6-3 230, Matt Moore 6-3 202, O’Connell 6-5 225
RB Bush 5-11 203, Sheets 5-11 206, Grigsby 5-10 190
RB Hilliard 5-11 240, Thomas 6-1 228, Clay 6-3 239
FL Gates 5-11 197, Marlon Moore 6-0 190, Pruitt 6-1 206

I’m going with 3 QB, 6 RB/FB, and 6 WR
I feel like the back up TE’s for Miami are just mediocre, but the WR backups may have some talent.
I also feel that Bush, Sheets, and Grigsby are all injury prone, so carrying that many RBs will insure healthy bodies when any or all of the three are on IR. I’d use Moore and Pruitt not only as back up WR and special teams players but also scat-back back ups, used for smoke routes out of the slot or jetseweep reverses from the slot. Even going into the pattern from the backfield or taking pitches to the outside. They add some speed to the backfield.

Defense 25
LDE Langford 6-6 290, Odrick 6-5 304
NT Soliai 6-4 350, Fields 6-2 314
RDE Starks 6-3 305, McDaniel 6-7 310, Merling 6-4 295
LOLB Misi 6-3 251, Taylor 6-6 250
LILB Burnett 6-3 240, Trusnik 6-4 250, Rivera 6-2 252
RILB Dansby 6-4 250, Edds 6-4 246
ROLB Wake 6-3 250, Freeny 6-3 242
LC Davis 5-11 203, Allen 5-10 195
RC Smith 6-3 214, Carroll 5-11 202
SS Bell 6-0 205, Wilson 5-11 185, Culver 6-1 210
FS Jones 6-1 214, Clemons 6-1 210

My Favorite Acquisitions: "Clyde" Gates WR, Charles Clay FB, Jimmy Wilson CB/S, Nic Grigsby RB, Jonathan Freeney OLB, Kevin Burnett ILB, Reggie Bush RB, Tom Brandstater QB, Marc Colombo RT. OL needs to be Long (LT), Pouncey (LG), Incognito (C), Carey (RG), and Colombo (RT).

I Sheets had been healthy last year, we would have carried five then. So, yeah.

5 running backs certainly isn’t out of the question.

Probably the best 53 breakdown I've seen. Great Job DolphDallas.

I don’t think it will happen this way though. I wish it would though. I look at the roster about the same way you do. I’m not sure Chisholm will make the roster. Due mainly to the fact he is still injuried. The O-Line Should be set if we put people in their natural positions.

An yes DolphDallas is probably one of the more knowledgable people on this site. Some people are new here I guess.

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

thanks for the kind words

You’re probably right about Chisholm, though I wonder if another team would poach him if we cut him.
Parcells once kept an injured Marc Columbo on the 53 in Dallas and it paid dividends eventually…I wonder how much interest there is in Chisholm around the league

My Favorite Acquisitions: "Clyde" Gates WR, Charles Clay FB, Jimmy Wilson CB/S, Nic Grigsby RB, Jonathan Freeney OLB, Kevin Burnett ILB, Reggie Bush RB, Tom Brandstater QB, Marc Colombo RT. OL needs to be Long (LT), Pouncey (LG), Incognito (C), Carey (RG), and Murtha (RT).

You might put him on the PUP for the first 6-weeks. That might solve it. An your welcome.

It’s funny. If I remember right Chris comes on here all the time. (the guy that wrote the post that is linked). An your welcome about the kind words. You’ve earned it in my book.

NO, HE DONT

He has Sheets and Grisby realsed

by dolphan63 on Aug 8, 2011 11:43 AM EDT up reply actions

to clarify: this is not a prediction of what the front office would do...

i think you are right, the front office may not carry that many running backs
but this is what I would do…
keep in mind that clay is really a te-fb hybrid
so if you think of Hilliard as a FB (cutting Lousaka)
then you have three TE (Fasano, Clay. Brackett)
1 FB Hilliard and 4 running backs (three of them injury prone)
Thomas, Bush, Sheets, and Grigsby
I like the explosiveness…

My Favorite Acquisitions: "Clyde" Gates WR, Charles Clay FB, Jimmy Wilson CB/S, Nic Grigsby RB, Jonathan Freeney OLB, Kevin Burnett ILB, Reggie Bush RB, Tom Brandstater QB, Marc Colombo RT. OL needs to be Long (LT), Pouncey (LG), Incognito (C), Carey (RG), and Colombo (RT).

You have 3 rb's that do the exact same thing

by Souwantmyname on Aug 8, 2011 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions

true that, but all three have difficulty staying healthy...

waste of a roster space?
not if they take turns being healthy and dangerous (as opposed to limping around on a gimpy ankle) on game day…

My Favorite Acquisitions: "Clyde" Gates WR, Charles Clay FB, Jimmy Wilson CB/S, Nic Grigsby RB, Jonathan Freeney OLB, Kevin Burnett ILB, Reggie Bush RB, Tom Brandstater QB, Marc Colombo RT. OL needs to be Long (LT), Pouncey (LG), Incognito (C), Carey (RG), and Murtha (RT).

by DolphDallas on Aug 8, 2011 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Its overkill

I get that you want insurance for Bush. Then that means you keep 1 guy out of Sheets/Grigsby. Otherwise your making your RB core 1 dimensional and wasting Hilliard’s talents as a just a blocking back

With the 15th pick, the Miami Dolphins select John Stamos....'s brother

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

by Souwantmyname on Aug 8, 2011 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I pretty much agree...except that BOTH Sheets and Grigsby have been brittle

I hate it when you cut a guy hoping to put him on the practice squad and he’s picked up by another team and you have to retrain a lesser talent. I like Grigsby a lot.

My Favorite Acquisitions: "Clyde" Gates WR, Charles Clay FB, Jimmy Wilson CB/S, Nic Grigsby RB, Jonathan Freeney OLB, Kevin Burnett ILB, Reggie Bush RB, Tom Brandstater QB, Marc Colombo RT. OL needs to be Long (LT), Pouncey (LG), Incognito (C), Carey (RG), and Murtha (RT).

more signings to come.....we all know who the starters and the backups are at every position right now......

we won’t know who stays or goes until we sign our last free agent before the regular season starts……

btw.....

mike pouncey will start at center and lousaka polite will start the season at fullback….whether he stays there remains to be seen……i have always been of the mindset to push hilliard into that spot but…….polite is the only fullback we have right now…….clay will take up a tight end spot……..he’s not a fullback……..he is a tightend/h-back at best……….

I agree

that Polite will start at FB this year, he is one year removed from an outstanding year and is in his contract year so there is a pretty decent chance he will make a resurgence to his 09 form. If not work Hilliard into the FB spot.

by AcolyteofRa on Aug 8, 2011 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions

as far as running backs......

we can tuck grigsby away on the practice squad and have two versions of power/speed in thomas/bush and hilliard/sheets

if polite peters out……or sheets doesn’t cash the check that his mouth has written……cut either or both and bring up grigsby and put him in the bullpen…….

one thing is certain……regardless of free agent signings at this point:
thomas, bush, hilliard are all on that roster

Livas is certainly intriguing, but we’ve had these undersized speedster in camp before (think Jayson Foster or Chris Williams) and they never seem to stick. Unless he separates himself in the return game, I don’t think he’ll make the team.

Anthony Armstrong… Hmm I wonder what ever happened to him???
