Columbo starting RT
is this a concern for anyone?
2010: Colombo allowed a team high 7 sacks and never looked himself throughout all of 2010. He was back at training camp with the hopes that whatever wasn’t quite right in the 2009 playoffs had healed, but in the preseason, it was pretty clear he just couldn’t pass protect with the same agility that he was known for.
2011 Analysis: It is believed that the Cowboys realize they need to look for a replacement at RT.
going into the season with Marc Colombo as starting RT is not a good idea – he has bad legs and cannot pass protect anymore.

Alot better than a bad LT or Center.
A bad LT gets your QB killed and a bad Center almost ensures your QB can only scan and throw to only one side of the field. With a bad RT, you can line up a TE or leave a RB to help and it isn’t the end of the world. You may even be able to setup a few nice screens if a defense commits to pass rushing that side too often.
don't sugar coat it....
giving your RT help because he can’t block one on one takes away options for your offense.
I’d rather leave Carey at RT and have someone else promoted at G.

That is pretty scary news.
What do you do when no one respects you? When you're so low you're not even an underdog? When your enemies are called kings? William Wallace would fight for every yard with his face painted aqua and orange. And so we will fight, not just for yards, but for touchdowns. And then they will fear us.
Chad Henne is 7 feet tall and consumes DBs with fireballs from his eyes and lightning bolts from his ass.
Hopefully Murtha continues to improve. (Driver of the Murtha bandwagon)
And Colombo’s knee injury is healed more now than last year.

It does sound like Murtha is looking better than I, at least, ever expected.
But I think he’s playing at LT. Dunno how he would do on the other side.
Chad Henne took the Lindbergh baby!
If you are good at LT, you usually can be really good at RT.
He has always been Technically sound, but need to gain weight (was 290 when he was a UDFA). Good news is he has the body to support said weight. Was at 305-310 in 2009. I don’t know if he kept up muscle building during the ockout, so we don’t know if he improved on that.

I'm certainly no expert...
so help me out. Isn’t it the case that a lot of times LTs have trouble with the run blocking required at RT?
Chad Henne took the Lindbergh baby!
PotM - He's on the wrong side of 30
and his knee problems go all the way back to the time he was with the bears.
counting on a 33 yr old RT that gave up 7 sacks last year and has a long history of knee problems is not a good idea.
the guy is basically a turn style at this point in his carreer.
why not make a push for a guard and move Carey back to RT??? I hipe you guys are right about Murtha or I hope there is somebody that can play RT because I have ZERO confidence that Colombo is the right guy.
by scrappy the wildcat on Aug 7, 2011 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions
You speak like the guy is as effective as my 12 yr old girl
From what I hear, Colombo is still a good run blocker. His ability to pass block has diminished. Between he an Ray Willis, we will have the right guy to put in at RT. Everyone wishes they had the top talent at every position on the O-line but its impossible and completely unnecessary. Chemistry and scheme can make up for Colombo’s shortcomings.
while I am sure he's better than your daughter
is that the criteria we want to use for the starting RT of the miami dolphins.
if Carey is the best RT on the team then maybe they should leave him there. Would you agree with that statement?
