Chad Henne and a 20 & 10 season of dreams

I have a dream, a hope, an aspiration, an expectation for the 2011 Miami Dolphins. I have been critical of this team for many reasons, things like lack of speed and conservative play-calling have been part of the Dolphin fan vernacular for 3 years now; nevertheless, one thing has stayed relatively consistent with the Sparano bunch: THEY DON'T GET PUSHED AROUND. The 1-15 Dolphins that where consistently man handled not only by superior talent but superior brawn is now a thing of the past. This team is always in the fight due to there tough mentality, strong interior play and result oriented approach. For all the criticism we get for being the third best team in the division, we are 4 and 2 the last three years vs the mighty Jets. What has been holding us back is a topic of strong debate on this site; on one hand We have the Chad Henne apologist that would point out the lack of skill position talent, the conservative play calling, and the check down no mistake philosophy has handcuffed our signal caller; on the other hand we have the Chad Henne haters who have argued that the QB simply doesn't have the natural play making ability to be a successful QB in the NFL today. We have gone back and forth on this debate since the end of last season and I myself am simply bored already. So, instead I will hope for the kind of season from our QB that coud make 2011 a magical ride for this team......20tds 10ints.

Now I realize that doesn't sound too exciting of a stat line, but considering how this team has played with a QB that has posted significantly worse numbers, I believe that spells playoffs. Consider the following, the defense of line this team fields is RIDICULOUS! It is by far the deepest unit in the division and perhaps the deepest unit in the entire NFL. That means that an offensive line will have to block an 8 deep unit for an entire game. Consider that the team has added a play-making inside linebacker that can cover the TE to a unit that was sixth in the league last year, and that, despite having 12 dropped interceptions, this Defense was still statistically dominant. Consider that the play-calling has gotten more aggressive, we can no longer use that as excuse for bad QB play, the handcuff theory is no longer applicable.

Can Chad Henne post that stat line? It doesn't seem to much to ask, or does it? That kind of quantum leap of improvement in QB play is rare. Chad has never reached the 20 td mark, nor has he ever thrown 10 or less Int's. Yet I believe that is what's required from our beloved signal caller for the team to have the kind of season that this fan base has been waiting for; a playoff birth and a playoff run....GO DOLPHINS!!
