Broncos Looking to Trade or Cut Tebow?
As this, I'm sure, will become wild speculation around the NFL and the Dolphins, I thought I would bring you this interesting tidbit.
And, I'm sure this Fan Shot will have a huge comment total shortly...

tebow is due to make something around $8 million
there is no way that team will pay a third stringer that kind of money…he isn’t worth that money…we will never trade for him and take on that salary, no team in the nfl will because they all realize he isn’t built as a NFL qb…he probably will get cut at this point and clear waivers
If he gets waived, I'll sign him. He's definitely better than O'Connell and Devlin and possibly Matt Moore.
Sign him and if Henne struggles, give him a shot, if not. We’ll get our QB next year in the draft.

I'm live in Gville, FL
and have experienced the whole “Tebow Thing” even as early as his HS days cuz he played against my HS..For all the hype that surrounds him, he never struck me as a good qb. He was able to use his motivational skills to make his team around him better. Plus he was a man among boys as far as stature. He has poor throwing mechanics and was way over hyped here.
Orton and Tebow both got fat contract, Denver giving away free money to scrubs
Hope we don’t go for him

I am a die hard dolphin fan but my girlfriend is a bronco fan
I gotta tell you, I watch the Bronco’s alot and Orton is a quality starting QB. Also and suprising to me is when I say that Brady Quinn has really developed. He is clearly better than Tebow in nearly every QB category. I was never a Quinn fan but he has truly come along and looks far superior to Tebow across the board.
As such I would have to say my opinion is a resouding no to picking up Tim Tebow.
And absorb that 8 mil a year for guy that wont see the field? Nah!

Yeah, but Tebow is a very talented, young QB. If all we have to do is offer a third, why not?
Tebow has all the tools to be successful. And with the salary changes in the draft, we can still draft Lindley and only tie up just over $12 million in cap. Which is not bad if Lindley or Tebow becomes the franchise guy.
Tebow = 8 mill, Henne = 560k, Lindley (in the late teens- early 20s) = 3 mill.

I would guess that he would be brought in as a back up and would more than likely supplant Henne down the road when he learns the offense.

He’d make a helluva FB/TE hybrid. And I know we have Charles Clay. And I know there’s no way in hell you pay the kid big money for that position. If he’s waived, you gotta at least take a look at his sheer athleticism.

Everyone loves the person Tebow
But there is no way we wan’t him on our team. 25% of the people out there think he is the second coming of Christ. If you think all this Matt Moore talk is too much to bear can you imagine if Tebow was here.
Henne could have 100 QB rating and they would want to put in Tebow.
after following the link
and reading the comments there I think I might have understated by comment above.
i would take him only if he changes his contract to 4 mill
He would be a good backup, he can compete with Moore. I would prefer garrard though.

Look at it this way
If somehow he does become a Miami Dolphins we will be instant news on ESPN everyday For the rest of the year on how many Tebow jerseys have sold and how well Tebow carries a clipboard for Henne to dissect defenses. Then again it might put the thought of the stall cat back in our offense. I guess I woudnt mind Tebow
Why does everyone hate Tebow?
you guys act like if we got Tebow the whole organization will collapse and we’ll have to sell the team. Why not give him a shot? I sure as hell would rather have Tebow on the field that Matt Moore. At least we know Tebow will put everything hes got into trying to win. If Henne sucks bad this year( which I don’t even think will happen), why not try Tebow out a few games? If he sucks, big deal, we would already be in the mindset of drafting a Franchise quarterback anyway.
How does someone not thinking a guy is a good QB equate hate?????
Quite a stretch there dude.

Tebow is another bright, young QB with all the tools in the world to succeed.
As long as it isn’t more than a 3rd + a player, I’d be fine with it. Also, we can still get Lindley since that is the only need we have outside of WOLB and TE.

I’ll agree with that.
QB skills? In the NFL? I just don’t see it Pot. Even with a great work ethic, there are only so many hours in a day. Maybe he could be turned into a workable backup NFL QB, eventually, but, man, it sure looks like it’s a long way down the road, and even then, I don’t see how he rises above “workable backup.”

I will agree to disagree with you - as long as you understand that I'm right.
There is just something about Tebow that I like. The kid makes plays.
The problem Tebow has is that he doesn’t fit a system. He isn’t ever going to succeed in a west coast offense, or a quick passing game like the Pats offense, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be effective. In the right situation with the right kind of offense, Tebow can play at a high level in the NFL.

"He is the system"
Sorry, just being dramatic….
"The first thing I do when I get out of bed and feel the jolt in my knees is think of Roy Winston. On the second step, my calcified Adam's apple starts bobbing, and I think of Carl Eller. A few more steps in the dark and it's Willie Lanier. By the time I get to the bathroom, I'm flashing back to Dick Butkus and Ray Nitschke. And when the light finally comes on, I just hope that somewhere in the darkness they're thinking of me, too" - Larry Csonka.
He played before my time but one of the toughest SOBs to ever play!
Ben Roethlisberger doesn't fit into an offensive system
He wouldn’t succeed in a west coast offense or a quick passing offense like the Pats. He doesn’t throw a lot of passing on timing. Ask all the football experts and they will say he holds the ball too long and takes too many hits. But he is very successful. Roethlisberger is must successful when the play breaks down and he has to improvise.
I am not saying that Tebow would be as good as Roethlisberger, but he is a similar “unstructured” (for lack of better term) type of player at QB.
"It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." MACBETH
"Walter, I love you, but sooner or later, you're going to have to face the fact you're a goddamn moron." THE DUDE (The Big Lebowski)
The big difference there...
is that Roethlisberger can really throw the football. He doesn’t fit into a timing system, like the ones you mentioned, but he fits perfectly in the system the Steelers actually run: a power running game complemented with a vertical passing attack.
The only similarities between Tebow and Roethlisberger are size and scrambling ability. Tebow is not in Roethlisberger’s league as a passer.

But that's sort of the point.
There’s a reason the kind of system Tebow fits in isn’t run in the NFL. They don’t work; the defenders are too fast and too well schooled in their reads. Gifted athlete though he is, Tim Tebow just isn’t enough to change that.

That is a copout NFL teams use all the time
The real reason no one runs a spread is the belief you have to have at least a halfway decent QB and QBs cost lots of money and running your QB into NFL defenses = “I’ll take my 20k fine to knock this fool out right now”
If someone were wait 2 years for them to be cheap, then take Tebow, Cam Newton, Vince Young and run the option all day they would crush. You think I’m crazy? NFL defenses are not even 2 deep. Actually run the ball at them every play for 50 plays. You ever watch Georgia Tech when they are having halfway decent success? Game is close for 3 quarters, then suddenly they are ripping of 10 and 20 yard runs, and that is with 85-100 guys on the team. Navy runs for 300 yards on D1 power programs and they have 250LB offensive linemen going against future NFL guys.
No one is willing to try it because it would get them fired if it didn’t work, even though they might get fired anyway trying to do things the pro set way.
The absolute truth of the matter is, the triple option run even close to perfection is nearly unstoppable.
Maybe.
Yet the fact remains that nobody runs it anymore. It’s hard to argue with Lombardi’s success running an offense revolving around the veer and the toss sweep, yet coaches stopped running that offense decades ago. Why? Did all NFL coaches decide they didn’t want to be as successful as Vince Lombardi? Probably not. So why don’t they run that offense?
You ever watch Georgia Tech when they are having halfway decent success?
Yes. You ever watch Georgia Tech compete for a national championship? Neither has anybody else.
Don’t get me wrong. The career factors you’re talking about certainly play a role. But I came up watching football in the Southwest Conference and the SEC; those guys knew a thing or two about the triple-option. I don’t claim to be especially knowledgeable about all the Xs and Os, but I saw what that offense could do, and I saw it hit the wall.
Georgia Tech can run that offense because they’re a college football program at an engineering school. Their boosters and fans want them to be good, of course, but they’re well aware that their school can’t compete for the athletes schools with lower academic standards can. The triple-option is a good choice for a school that has a handful of talented running backs, but not much size or athleticism up front, and not enough speed to run a vertical passing game. People get that. So there are factors at play other than winning football games.
In the NFL, that’s not the case. Winning is the only thing. If you don’t win, there are no other factors that will keep you in your job. And everybody is stacked with those athletes Georgia Tech can’t sign. In those circumstances, the triple-option is not an option. Just like the Wildcat can’t be a full-time NFL offense.
Chad Henne took the Lindbergh baby!
