Miami must shift the focus to offense
Defense is set, offense ain't.
Honestly, I am real happy with the defensive signings Miami has made with Kevin Burnett, Jason Taylor and adding depth with Ronald Fields. Now, Usi Umienyora is on the radar for Miami too. Now, I would love seeing Usi in aqua and orange but we don't need him. I would rather spend the money towards our offense. We have to get another receiver in my opinion, like Braylon Edwards. Edwards would come cheap and he won't make the money he made while he was with the Browns and Jets. Also, they need to find a pass-catching tight end, a guy like Kevin Boss. Edwards alongside Marshall and Bess in the slot would make this receiving corps very threatening, if it wasn't already. Or another scenario is to get back to the Kyle Orton sweepstakes. I have been following Omar Kelly on Twitter and he said that he will only tweet the good stuff about Henne but after 4 practices, he has not tweeted a lot of positive on Henne.
Don't get me wrong here but I would love Miami to keep adding depth on to the defense to make it to the top but the only thing that separated our defense from being to the top ladt year in my opinion was the inability to force turnovers. That is the only thing that lacks within our defense and a guy like Umenyiora would certainly help in the forced fumbles territory. Free Agency did start on Friday and as a fan I got to be patient but all the names that Miami wanted or should've pursued are going off the board, like Zach Miller, Ahmad Bradshaw. We have bigger holes to fill with another tight end, depth to the offensive line, a running back to go along with Daniel Thomas and maybe get back to acquiring Kyle Orton. Hartline is one of our more underrated players but Edwards would be an upgrade and would limit the pressure off Marshall and keep the double-teaming off of him. After watching Bradshaw, Benson, Ronnie Brown go off the board, its coming to a certain fact that a possibloe Ricky return is looming. Reggie Bush is more of a pass-catching running back then a regular running back. Our O-line is our biggest problem but Miami is acting as if the defensive line needs more depth. Our resigning of Tony McDaniel was awesome, him and Soliai were just forces in stopping the run but too bad other opposing teams knew how to stop our game as much as Soliai and McDaniel did. Carey is injury-prone, slow and is not the Pro-Bowler he was a few years ago but is still somewhat valuable. If he does not accept a paycut, Miami should cut him. I think Mike Puncey at guard would be a better choice and a more experienced centerman should be brought in, a guy like Shaun O'Hara. Kevin Boss brings two things: his hands and his ability to block downfield.
Like I said before, I love the signings Miami made so far but it now time to turn to the offensive side of the ball. Our defense is set and ready to dominate. Our offense is still looking at repeating what it did last year and Miami cannot let that happen. Ireland's job is on the line and so is Sparano's and in order to keep it, they have to get more aggressive and stop being conservative.
Oh and one more thing, after reading the breakdown of 7-on-7 in the Sun-Sentinnel blog, why do I feel like our Week 1 starter could be Pat Devlin?

Kevin Boss and Braylon Edwards would add playmaking ability
Throw Orton into that mix.
I really don’t think we’ll go after a TE though, because there were two very good ones out there in the last few days and we showed interest in neither. TE doesn’t seem to be of concern to the team. We’re also pretty much set at WR, but Edwards would add a very interesting dimension. But would that extra dimension be wasted on Henne? Give Orton the keys to the offense with Edwards/Marshall/Bush…watch out! If we had Boss with Fasano it’d be even better. I doubt the team could pull all of this off, or that it even wants to.

Allow me to be the first to disagree :P
The Orton trade is very quiet right now but the chess game is continuing. I’m not saying we get him, but there’s a pulse.
And welcome! Since Ozkar is no longer around we need good people to fill his shoes.

No, he stormed out on Saturday night's CKC
Said he was never coming back, stuck around for 20 minutes after that, then no one’s seen him since.

LOL... I was there for that
I figured he just went over the top and made it official.

He's posting his usual inflammatory 11-year old remarks on Armando's blog, I think.
The 2010 Miami Dolphins. Here's to 2011!
I think they're doing the smart thing and solidifying the oline, its the backbone of the offense, I agree with u though,
I don’t care how good the defense is, if our offense stinks and keeps getting into 3 and outs, our d will get tired and fatigued quickly and often.

Kevin Boss would be a great addition..
Not sure I like Edwards and all his problems… I mean, how many states can the guy get a DUI in??
As for Devlin starting.. he probably looked worse than Henne. I hear he got sacked 3 straight times at once, and fumbled 3 times?? He would snap the ball and run out of the pocket in hopes not to get caught, lol… I HIGHLY doubt he starts..
I agree we need some offensive moves
Omar want us to get Kitna…also Omar has it out for Henne never seen him say anything good about him even if he does make a good play but thats Omar for ya

Yeah
All we got on the offensive side in Free Agency is Bush and Moore. That’s not nearly enough.
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
The only FA more I'm really thrilled about is Burnett
And a couple other solid depth moves like Columbo and Jason Taylor. Damn gotta hope Gates and Thomas can grow up quickly – or at all.

We've done a great job adding experience. No doubt about that.

Let's face it
we can make all the moves in the world on offense, but if we don’t get the right trigger man “QB” it will be all for nothing. We do need to get the Oline in order for whatever QB we do have though.
What if the FO is interested in Usi in order to set up a deal with Orton?
It’s just a thought, because Denver is needing DE and are very interested in Usi.
thats a possbility
but if we trade a 2nd for Orton, they could just get him themselves.
Laces out!

Anyone else like the idea of Malcom Floyd???
I do agree with the idea of adding Boss and Edwards. But two more names that would come for about the same $$$ are Bo Scaife and Malcom Floyd. Just throwing it out there…and of course I’d love Orton but that dream is dwindling by the minute. Thoughts?

i like floyd.
the OL is in shambles. i like the idea of bringing in o’hara with pouncey at LG. there were a few i think good undrafted centers that could come in and be groomed. i think were stuck with henne unless there willing to go for someone like shaun hill, drew stanton, matt flynn or caleb hanie. if we dont bring in another WR, i believe that moore will beat out hartline. IMO.
