In some of the more recent Articles I've read in regards to our back-field, some of the points are a bit...strange to say the least. For instance, I've read Reggie Bush is looking to be the "Primary RB" this season. I just don't see that happening. If Daniel Thomas couldn't run between the tackles (due to poor O-Line play) then how in the world can Reggie? I do love the acquisition of Bush and feel he will be a great complimentary Back to Thomas and great at lining up as an extra WR. That said, this ALL REVOLVES AROUND THE O-LINE's ABILITY TO "RUN-BLOCK" AND CREATE SPACE FOR OUR BACKS. If the O-Line can be SUCCESSFUL, then our RB's will be successful. And I believe that if we can get any push up front, that Daniel Thomas can be a great feature-back, that will allow Reggie to thrive as well.
In summation, it starts with the O-Line creating space for Daniel Thomas to run "North and South" successfully. That opens the door for our X-Back, Bush, to do his "thing" whether it be as a change-of-pace-Back, to catching balls outta the back-field, or lining up as a WR. We NEED our O-Line to dominate the trenches, or we won't be able to run the ball effectively. The running game will also benefit from solid production from the passing game as well, so teams don't stack the box and keep'em guessing.
This is just one man's opinion, but I do know that many of us here at the Phinsider have also said in posts, shots, and comments that they agree that the O-Line needs to step up its game, and FAST. Here's to HOPE.
