We have a few depth problems that this FO would like to address with the $4 millionish cap space we have left. Remember, we have to use at least 3 million of that to reach the 99% cap floor.
I don't want to worry too much about our rookie after one PS game, but he seemed to slow and holes would close before he would get there. We might need a veteran FA to come in to play if this continues, as we can't have Bush carrying the bulk of the workload. Neither can we have Hilliard. A very talented guy is Kevin Smith. He would be better known for his abilities, but he can't shake the injury bug. Anyway, this FO needs to have a good HB coming into this season, or they will look very bad if they traded three picks to wind up with a running game worse than last year's. Another guy to watch out for is Mike Hart, who averaged 4.3 YPC in Indy before he was injured, which is weird because HBs typically don't do well in Indy.
Another thing this FO has to keep an eye on is Burnett's play. He was terrible against the run and was the main reason ATL ran all over us. If this lack of run D continues, we need to address this. We cannot have teams running left and right on us for big gain consistently. Apparently Crowder was better than this FO thought. Kirk Morrison is a good ILB that leaves something to be desired in pass protect. We could sub him out in passing situations for Burnett, who played great in that regard. Lofa Tatupu is another option.
Re-signing Soliai to about 8 mill/year would save us 4 million in cap space.
Resigning Langford now would be a good option to prevent him from going into FA.
Resigning Hartline would also ensure that our good WR corps wouldn't break up.
