HI how is everyone doing today? honestly im just posting today because there is a couple of things i would like to point out. First and forth most i would just like to make it perfectly clear that I'm aware its the preseason meaning that its not time to have any knee jerk reactions right? i also know that the offense just received a new playbook two weeks ago and there is only been a few practices and everything i can understand that. However i am highly concerned about the qb position and how sparano handles everything. honestly all i have been hearing from Sparano is excuse, after excuse, after excuse, fact of the matter is i want Henne, or any other qb that's under center for the phins to be successful, i hope he improves and gets better but if he doesn't show any significant improvement than sparano has to admit that and make a change.
What concerns me the most however was that even though Henne did show some improvement and made that td pass to Hartline he was still showing the same tendencies he always has. First off throwing the ball behind receivers, ok Fasano should have caught it but his ball location is something that he supposedly has been working on right? ( i don't think that has anything to do with the playbook by the way) in regards to the second int i have heard Sparano say a whole bunch of bs about Bess running the wrong route and all this other chemistry and, timing issues. However i just want to point out two very important factors 1. wasn't Henne leading the off season work outs all this time to get on the same page with everyone else? he had the playbook if im not mistaken so the whole chemistry issue might be true but it shouldnt be used as an excuse. fact of the matter is if Bess ran the wrong route don't stare him down and throw him the ball lol. if you watched the game you saw Henne clutch the ball before throwing a floater right to Grimes. I really think that the whole we just got the playbook thing has been blown out of proportion. Which brings me to my next point if the timing thing is such an issue how do you explain how Matt Moore, who by the way many of you consider a back up qb, was able to move the ball down the field, make some good throws, the right reads and just look poise in the pocket even when under pressure? specially since he has had a few less practices than Henne? i realize he was going against backups however that's not the point if this is truly an evaluation process he looked really solid and capable of making things happen on friday he gave us the best chance to win and thats what this team needs am i right? i think that he should be given a fair shot at the starting position and a chance to play with the first team and see what he can do and let the best man win no excuses, no bs just a healthy competition which gives everyone a fair shot.
In conclusion what really set me off was a comment which Sparano made when he was asked about the qb situation..."I wouldn't say there is a battle right at this second. For me it takes more than a few outings and a couple of practices," Sparano said. "I thought Matt did some good things. On the surface it's going to look like Matt did way more good things than Chad maybe, I guess, to your eye, but there are things in there from Matt that need to be corrected as well." yes Moore has somethings that need to be corrected but they seem to be fewer than henne right? with less practice and lees time on a team. Henne is been here four years by now he should have some chemistry don't you agree? and about the it takes more than a few practices, you are right. so how about you take in to account the past sixteen games which look very similar to the one Friday night? yes those same sixteen games that almost got you fired... not to mention the only reason you are still feeding us excuses is because we couldn't land Harbough.
Anyways this article is not meant to trash Henne if he gives us the best chance to win and he trully has improved as they say he has than thats great, but if he doesn't than the one who does regardless of who it might be should play its only fair to this team with so much potential, the fans and even sparano himself. So i just don't want sparanos stubbornness to diminish our chances to have what can be a great 2011 season. You do know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again even though its hurting you or failing. Fact of the matter is im all for Henne proving himself and he should be given more then one preseason game to do it but jobs and many other things are on the line, so just please don't wait until week sixteen of the regular season. he now has speed, a great number one receiver, a top 5 defense, and hopefully the running game pans out. This means the talent around him should be more than enough for him to succeed in his 4th year right? so there should be no excuses I'm sick and tired of them aren't you?
