We Potentially Have Our Own Redskin

I know some of you guys thought I was going to bash and overreact on Henne yesterday and compare him to a Redskin whose last name describes him. But you're wrong. I'm going to look at one of the positives from yesterday.

I live in Northern Virginia, so the Redskins are huge over here and I get to follow them closely. I can't stand them but there is a player on there team that has A LOT of the same attributes as a player on our team. No, not Rex Grossman.

He brings excitement and is a home run threat every time he gets his hand on the ball. When I saw Phillip Livas play yesterday this guy instantly connected in my head. And that is a good thing.

I present to you a name popular only in D.C:

Brandon Banks

This guy could easily be Phillip Livas' older brother. He only has one year of experience, so they are almost the same age. Brandon is 5 foot 7, the same as Livas. Banks is 155 pounds, so Livas is 24 pounds heavier, which is only a good thing for us.

So since there build is very similiar, lets look at Banks' combine stats to Livas' pro day:

40 Yard Dash:

Banks: 4.43

Livas: 4.43

3 Cone Drill:

Banks: 6.88

Livas: 6.90

20 Yard Shuttle:

Banks: 4.29

Livas: 4.09

Vertical Jump:

Banks: 31"

Livas: 33.5"

Broad Jump:

Banks: 9' 5"

Livas: 9' 6"

So similiar, it's getting kind of scary now. If that wasn't enough, let's look at their career stats in college:

Banks (2 years at Kansas ST.):

Recieving: 123 receptions 1754 yds  14.26 avg 10 TDs

Rushing: 18 attempts 236 yds 13.1 avg 1 TD

Punt Returning: 31 returns 213 yds 0 TD 9 Fair Catches Long 34

Kick Returning: 57 returns 1625 yds 28.5 avg 5 TD

Livas (4 years at Louisiana Tech, taking 2008 and 2010):

Recieving: 65 receptions 873 yds 13.4 avg 4 TDs

Rushing: 49 attempts 490 yds 10.0 avg 4 TDs

Punt Returning: 49 returns 431 yds 3 TDs 21 Fair Catches Long 88

Kick Returning: 67 returns 1683 yds 25.1 avg 2 TD

So these stats show that both are more than capable of contributing on both special teams and on offense, though that role will probably be limited. They are a home run threat every time they touch the ball and kickers/punters will think twice if they want to send the ball to them. I'm excited about Livas, because I saw what impact Banks had on the Redskins last year.

Thanks for reading and I'll leave you guys with highlights of each. GO DOLPHINS!!!!
