There is one of a few new rule changes in the NFL this year that will in my opinion significantly give our Miami Dolphins a huge competitive advantage. The rule I am eluding to is the kickoff being moved to the 35 yard line as opposed to the 30 yard line as in the past. This gives our team a HUGE advantage on a couple levels. First it helps us in special teams where we sucked last year. The first Patriots game was horrible. This new rule will result in less returns and lots more touchbacks which brings me to the second big advantage- our defense. So instead of facing a dangerous return against our shotty special teams, we will be putting our stellar defense on the field at the 20 yard line. This new rule alone in itself might just be enough to get us 2 more wins. And staying with the defensive theme, a few more Ints and less drops should also yield about 2 more wins. On offense, less turnovers and better Red Zone production should once again yield a couple more wins. So my conclusion is that there is no reason why that given a new rule change, better offensive production and even a slightly improved defense, that this team can't be a 10 win team and even win our division this year.
