UPDATE: It would seem that the Denver Broncos really are moving forward with Kyle Orton as their No. 1 QB. Here's a dispatch from Mike Klis of the Denver Post from Monday afternoon.
"Tim Tebow is in a serious quarterback competition all right. He and Brady Quinn are neck and neck in the battle for the No. 2 quarterback spot," Klis writes.
"Based on the way the reps were divided during the Broncos' full-pad practice Monday, Kyle Orton is the Broncos' No. 1 quarterback free and clear. There was no mixing in the other quarterbacks with the first-team offense. Orton took them all."
Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated also chimed in Monday afternoon with a side of the story that might have been under-represented until now: the other veteran players in the Broncos locker room. In Trotter's view, if the team trades Orton -- who has clearly been outperforming Tebow and Quinn -- it sends the message that the team doesn't necessarily want the player that gives the team the best chance to win.Looks like the Dolphins won't be acquiring Orton after all...
