I love being home. I am the only child, raised by a single parent. And where most 45 year olds might feel funny about staying for extended periods at their parents house, I don't. My Mom cherishes my visits and it also gives me a chance to help her out. First order of business when I arrived was tearing off the roof of a 3 car garage and putting a new roof on it.
Once that was completed, I took a closer look a some of the Dolphin stuff that adorns her home. There is stuff everywhere. Forget about the tailgating stuff that's in the garage or small mountain of stuff that I've stored in her basement. This is stuff in the main living areas that for the most part I have taken for granted on my yearly visits. You see, I end up in the basement repacking my new acquisitions into "the motherload". Mainly, I am talking about her family room in the back of the house. Here we have a lazy boy covered in an Elvis blanket and on the wall more Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. And of course, my one of a kind Dan Marino wall hanging ( yes,...I made it ).
It contains my HOF ticket, the article from the USA Today, and a few pictures I took from that weekend. One being his followthrough after throwing the ball on that day.
Yeah, I'm good with a camera...
From left to right. A pic of me & Mom at her 1st game at Joe Robbie, a Dolphin sand dollar ( I love that thing ! ), a pic of Wifey's 1st trip to Joe Robbie, behind the Dolphin figurine is a Marino signed golf visor to my Mom, a pic of me with Shula, and and actual piece of the Orange Bowl from the last event at the stadium ( a flag football game between Dolphin and Hurricane greats ).
Here we have a Marino singed mini, a figurine, a mini from the HOF, and a couple of collectable stat cards. I also notice a sleeve of Dolphin golf balls and a deck of cards,...
Now, I have tons,.....and tons of Dolphin gear. I thought most of it was in boxes in the basement. Not so....this pic is the closet in my room. There is easily 10 pieces of Dolphin clothing in here.
I've forgotten about lots of this stuff and I have to wonder what I might come across once I venture into the basement. Like this beauty,....an unused Ozzy and the Blizzard of Oz concert ticket from 1982 for the the show in Toledo. As the story goes, it was freezing rain that night and my buddy couldn't make it to the show from Bowling Green, OH ( 30 miles to the South ).
So, all this has left me with the urge to turn my Mom's basement into Mancave version 2.0 while I wait for the lock-out to end. For this Dol-Fan,....I'm in paradise.
Disclaimer : On my preview a couple of pictures got cropped. Missing are the Orange Bowl piece, Shula, and part of the HOF mini. But, you get the gist....
