Around SBN: Devils Beat Rangers, Head To Stanley Cup Finals

The top 20 receivers in the NFL today.

This is my list of the top 20 receivers in the NFL.

20: Davone Bess. He is a high character, sure handed, good route runner who produces, but lacks speed.

19: Steve Breaston. He has good hands and produces. He Contributed 77 receptions for 1006 yards in the Cardinals run to the super bowl.

18: Austin Collie. He didn't have a fast 40 time, but his jukes and route running allow him to get open. He has sure hands and is Mannings "go to guy".

17: Jeremy Maclin. A former first round pick, Maclin has produced. In 2010, he had 70 catches and 10 touchdowns. Plus, his 40 time is 4.4, so he's got some wheels.

16: Derrick Mason. He is 37 and can still get open. He has 924 career catches. This man is a beast.

15: Michael Crabtree. A physical specimen. He is the best WR on his team and in his division.

14: Stevie Johnson. 82 catches for 1,073 yards and 10 touchdowns. That says it all.

13: Hines ward. His 954 career catches, his tenacity as a blocker, a super bowl MVP. That is Ward's resume.

12: Santonio Holmes: A super bowl winning TD catch, great speed and hands.

11: Anquan Boldin. Not the fastest guy on the field, but able to make plays with his route running and hands.

10: Greg Jennings. Three straight 1,000 yard season's. Leading receiver on super bowl winning team. Need I say more?

9: Wes Welker. Great hands, route running, above-average speed, 123 receptions in a season. Beast.

8: DeSean Jackson. Electrifying return man, 4.29 speed, a deep threat.

7: Terrell Owens. He has 1,078 catches for 152 touchdowns. Amazing.

6: Brandon Marshall. He won't burn you, but he'll bully you and then snag on you.

5: Reggie Wayne. Great hands and route running as well as intelligence make up for average speed.

4: Calvin Johnson. 6'5 4.33 forty time,  great hands, he is "the Megatron"

3: Roddy White. 115 catches in 2010. 115! He makes a huge contribution to his team.

2: Larry Fitzgerald: He had 90 catches last year. Even when the Qbs throwing to him couldn't hit the broad side of barn with a beach bal.

1: Andre Johnson: the best wr in the nfl. hands down.

No Miles Austin, Brandon Lloyd, Dyawne Bowe, Mike Wallace?

Crabtree???? He freaking averaged 13.5 yards a game last year. Way to tear it up there!

My bad Crabtree had 43 yards per game. Still very underwhelming.

Agree

And to add to that, Crabtree isn’t the best Wr in his division. Both the Rams and Seahawks have better ones like Avery and Mike Williams.

Yeah Crabtree might one day become a top 20 guy but much like Dez Bryant he needs

to get his head out of his ass first.

Leader

Yeah I think guys like Crabtree and Bryant need a better leader at Qb to make them reach their full potential as players and men. Someone like a Marino type. Rare as it may be though. Romo and Smith aren’t strong enough leaders or personalities to push those guys.

I think Dez was going to have some issues no matter where he went.

Yeah that statement makes zero sense seeing as he has Fitz second.

Today

If I’m not mistaken this is the best Wrs of present day not the past. So while still productive, TO and Mason shouldn’t even be on this list. And I definitely disagree with the order of several names even if I used your list only.

Yeah no way in hell TO is still a top 7 guy.

Marshall

I hate to say this, but using this list, I would even put Welker and Jackson ahead of Marshall.

yeah

Along with Holmes and Jennings.

Mason

Yeah Mason as well. While he has had a great career, like TO, he has seen his better days come and go.

You forgot...

Hakeem Nicks, Miles Austin, and Dwyane Bowe (all of which should go before Stevie Johnson IMO) just off the top of my head

Without giving it much thought

This wouldn’t even be my final product, but are just a list with players and their estimated ranges. Santana Moss, Malcom Floyd, Mike Williams, Mike Sims-Walker, Terrell Owens, and several others would be competing for 20-25. I like Bess, but I don’t know if I’d even have him in the top 30. He could be considered without any problems, but I definitely don’t see im as a top 20.

Since a few may want to rip me for having the receiving leader at #20, let me remind you this is his first 1,000 yard receiving year in his 8 NFL seasons. The fact that he played with some terrible QBs, has seen several injuries derail promising seasons, and couldn’t find a permanent spot allows some leniency towards him. I’m cautious to rate WRs because of 1 year of production, which is why Lloyd and Rice are ranked where they are on my list.

20) Brandon Lloyd
19) Sidney Rice
18) Vincent Jackson
17) Braylon Edwards
16) Miles Austin
15) Hines Ward
14) Wes Welker
13) Marques Colston
12) Santonio Holmes
11) Brandon Marshall
10) Dwayne Bowe
9) Mike Wallace
8) Hakeem Nicks
7) DeSean Jackson
6) Reggie Wayne
5) Greg Jennings
4) Calvin Johnson
3) Roddy White
2) Larry Fitzgerald
1) Andre Johnson
