WE MUST KEEP NNAMDI FROM SIGNING WITH THE JEST!
If we let Nnamdi Asomugha to sign with the Jets, We have no shot this year, i dont care what kind of money he wants, not only is he an instant upgrade to our secondary, it would save our asses from humiliation against our arch-enemies, the guy is worth the money on his own, and even more worth it if we keep him away from New York.
Hell id pay him money just so he didnt sign with New York

If the Jets get him...
we are in big trouble. He might be bettter than REVIS really.
Miami should actually look at him – but we just dont have enough money for another CB and to still fix the Offense… I don’t see how the Jets have enough CAP space either.
If we did sign him you would have to trade Sean smith (or vontae) so whats the point really.
we would still be short ONE FRANCHISE QB……………………. until we get that we will never contend for anything in this Pass-orientated league….but Oh, I forgot, we are busily putting together a “power run” team….
VEGAS opened the OVER/UNDER line on dolphins wins at 8 – meaning they think at best we will be 8-8, and you need 9 wins to win the bet.
41 Year FIN FAN
Franchise QB... NOW !!! ...Draft Ryan Mallett ...Draft some Freakin speed for a change. WR & RB speed kills......
I think people are underestimating this team
If our QB play is mostly consistent we will win at least 10 games.
i get theres nothing important in my post
but how the hell do we have any shot when the top corner joins the second best corner on a top 5 defense? seems pretty simple to me the solution is to make sure he doesnt sign there. Why wouldnt you go after the single best cornerback in the league? I get we are working on our offense, but we are below the minimum cap and the Jets are over the cap, how do we not have money to get him?
Fins Fan from NY, just loveeeee stickin it to them Jets fans!!
He was injured last year, is 30 years old
and would be the highest priced player on a team with one of the best young CB duos in the NFL already. I would love to see him in aqua but he would be even more of a luxury than he would be on the Jests. Patience young jedi, Rome wasn’t built overnight.
Asomugha to Jets
Is an absolute nightmare, hopefully he grows a brain and stays away from that shithole. I cant believe they have a possibility to sign him and if it came down to it I would be completley ok with signing him in order to keep him from becoming a Jet
That ****hole was in the AFC Championship game the last 2 years

Gonna take a fortnight at least to get this herd down to St. Louis on Mississippi. This glen's gonna be tough to traverse, and that river's got to be 50, 60 meters wide. And God knows how many fathoms. To hell with parliamentary procedure. We've got to wrangle up some cattles!

cromo is gone...point is with the soft cap this year of i think 3 mil they can actually afford to pay him 12 mil...its scary and im not gonna lie i would be terrified to play their defense..
only good thing is, they still have no pass rushers…shaun ellis would most likely be gone…and they still have poor safety’s as well as nickel backs if they signed him….oh and no damien woody who held cam wake in check 2 times as well as no tony richardson or braylon edwards…they def got worse in many places but there defense would be very very solid vs the pass

If they shed other key players, sure. Nnamdi and Darrelle can only contain our WRs for so long. No coverage sacks means we can dump it off to Reggie Bush or PTR all day.

I was watching "highlights" of nnamdi and he was getting beat by bess...
when we played oakland, hell didnt henne have a great game against the raiders secondary and dont say we were throwing away from nnamdi because we also passed to Marshall while nnamdi was on him and got completions. plus we would be able to run all over the jest if the get nnamdi they will have no money to help their d-line. none. and their offense wont have edwards so their offense takes a hit and thats another year older that LT gets. I believe if we get another WR to improve our #2 spot we would kill the jest by throwing to Bess in the slot or with Hartline on whoever their nickle corner is. Thats my optimism.

edwards actually killed the phins every time we played them with the exception of the last game bc it was cold as hell and rainy and neither qb could pass the ball
i would be very happy to see him gone…
Edwards only kills us when we play the Jets at night
And that’s the story of Edwards’ career—drops passes galore, but will try hard when he’s playing in a primetime game.

i think i might of confused that game. I remeber a game where Marshall was good against Nnamdi
but that makes my argument stronger if Bess was being guarded by nnamdi and still got catches on him

I really don't care what the Jests do
We have a good team and if we do get both Orton and Bradshaw we will be very good. They only cover 2 people and we have 3 very good WR with a rookie burner (not to mention Moore and Wallace showed some decent flashes last year). If our QB play is even mediocre we will be right in the thick of it.
it would be a nice signing for them if the cap space is there
I assume they would blitz every down with little fear. Neither needs safety help.
"The first thing I do when I get out of bed and feel the jolt in my knees is think of Roy Winston. On the second step, my calcified Adam's apple starts bobbing, and I think of Carl Eller. A few more steps in the dark and it's Willie Lanier. By the time I get to the bathroom, I'm flashing back to Dick Butkus and Ray Nitschke. And when the light finally comes on, I just hope that somewhere in the darkness they're thinking of me, too" - Larry Csonka.

by Strange on Jul 27, 2011 4:47 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
blitz with who?
If they bring their safeties they will not have anyone to cover an extra WR or RB out of the backfield. Their biggest problem is not that they couldn’t bring the house last year on blitzes, its that it didn’t matter. They couldn’t generate a pass rush no matter what they did. I don’t expect this move to change that.

Who cares....
He played for a crappy team. He is definately one of the top corners in the league, but is he definately better than Revis? I am not sure you can tell. In any case, in the highlight clips they show for Nmandi there is a highlight of our very own Davone Bess getting open on him. How much of an upgrade is Nmandi over Cromartie? Did the Jets stop every team from throwing the ball on them last year? No. Would having both of them mean that we couldn’t pass the ball against them? No. If we run 4 WR sets, which I hear Daboll is fond of, they still have to cover 2 more WRs and they have no one else to cover them with. Their biggest problem on defense though is that they have no pass rush. That has not changed. Additionally they are going to have problems resigning some of their other key players like Sean Ellis, making their defense even softer up front. sign the big name free agent… please….

But if you mean “we” being the fans, what do you want us to do? Tie up Tannenbaum and throw him into the East River?

Yeah, they'll have the best CB tandem in the NFL...
they’ll also have no safeties or pass rushers worth a crap. They have no RT and their D-line is suspect. Outside of Holmes, they have a crappy WR crew, even if they get Moss (who is washed up). Like Cable Guy alluded to, this move will tie up over 25% of their cap into two players. They won’t be able to get any more quality FAs. Since they’re the Jets, they will ultimately fail (because that’s what they do). They will mortgage their future for one chance while good teams will keep building for the future.

going to come up again next year again. Eventually they are going to have to gut and start over.

their safeties and LBs
besides, how often do you see teams in 4 or 5-receiver sets?
Miami's Superstars: Brandon Marshall, Jake Long, Karlos Dansby, Cameron Wake, Vontae Davis (just wait), Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Stanton, Gaby Sanchez, and Hanley Ramirez. :)
You see teams in 4 and 5 receiver sets as much as it works.

of course, but having 2 great cb's makes it much more difficult for an offense to operate
Miami's Superstars: Brandon Marshall, Jake Long, Karlos Dansby, Cameron Wake, Vontae Davis (just wait), Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Stanton, Gaby Sanchez, and Hanley Ramirez. :)
?
If we get Nnamdi, the only weakness on our team will be the OLB’s. Marshall and Bess will be shutdown, and then we have Wilson who should improve and Coleman who is very solid. Our D-line is one of our deepest positions also so I think it’s a huge improvement if we get NNamdi. Not saying it’ll be impossible to pass on us but I think we’d be the no. 1 defense in the league again. Anyway, why is that I always feel that the Dolphins FO is conservative? (outside of last year)
If we get Nnamdi
Not going to happen.

dolphins front office doesnt want to turn into the redskins...
great teams are built from within…jets will feel it sooner or later…get Nnamdi and you have no RT, your fullback and locker room leader T-Rich is gone, no Braylon…older LT…Brandon Moore is coming off surgery…Shaun Ellis wouldn’t be back bc you would have no money…and you still have below average safety and nickel backs…Wilson is not a nickel and thats why you were interested in phillip buchanon…oh and you still have no pass rush what so ever…so if you get Nnamdi, you will have plenty more holes…your running game is going to go way down…Brad Smith won you that gave in Miami last year and he’s gone as well. Don’t forget Cromartie’s kick return that helped you beat the colts in the playoffs, yea thats gone too along with Brad Smith’s kick return abilities that was the difference vs Pitt in the reg season…Sanchez should’ve had 20 Int’s if it weren’t for butter fingers…he had the most dropped passes by the opposing team at 19…don’t feel you guys are improving but rather weakening
Ok, for one everything you said is just completely inaccurate
All our core players are built from the draft: Sanchez, Harris, Keller, Revis, Ferguson, Lowery, Mangold, Coleman, Cotchery, Thomas. All major contributors. Our offensive line was arguably the best in the league. We signed Ducasse to take over for Woody, and if he’s not ready we have Hunter who started 4 games last year and did fine against top flight competition. Another reason we’re gonna get better: Sanchez is gonna be better than last year. This is why the Jets FO has been successful in their tenure and the Dolphins haven’t : Smart, agressive, moves not only in the draft but Free Agency. Also, it helps when Mike T is a cap genius

first off cotchery lowery coleman are all garbage...hunter and ducasse are about as good as slauson so i'm glad to face them...
Sanchez was actually awful last year but benefited from 10 yard slants and his wr’s breaking tackles and going the distance…lets see what his numbers would look like if half of the 19 interceptions don’t get dropped…sometimes the cookies crumbles your way, but that won’t always be the case bud…also benefited from playing Pitt Sans Troy P….you guys are losing serious talent on offense and your O-line has 2 good players now…def not the “best in the league”
Garbage?
Get out of here; Cotch was injured the whole year and still managed solid numbers behind Bray and Holmes; and obviously you didn’t watch him play in the playoffs cause he was lightsout. Oh and he played great on the road at Heinz field against the #1 defense in the league. And 2 good o-line people? ridiculous. Best center in the league, Top 5 LT, Top 10 RG, and Hunter and Slauson are def solid, Slauson was fine last year…And yeah geez I wish Sanchez was as good as Henne
it would suck if the jets get namdi, but we have priorities of our own
I want orton and bradshaw, and i’m just crossing my fingers that namdi isn’t willing to take a pay cut

Go after 2 other raiders
Zach Miller TE,Michael Huff SS and get Ahmad Bradshaw RB + Kyle Orton the F/O would have one of the best Free Agency pick ups (it could happen) Asomugha is to many $$.
I thought you guys would go hard for Williams
but from what I’m hearing I think you guys will get Orton
Thanks for the info that is only 12 hours old. Appreciate it.

This move is stupid.
Orton is about to count for 8 million against Denver’s already maxed out cap. The Bronco’s would just release him…… but Ireland jumps in to pony up draft picks and a DE! This move is stupid.

They have to have 99% of the cap filled. As do us (or we?).

Cap strapped?
Even with Orton, the Broncos have $16 million or so to spend. They have more cap flexibility than we do… The Broncos are not going to just release Orton.
