Living in my childhood home temporarily with both my Mom and my Wifey has it challenges. While I love both of them dearly, my Mom's house is estrogen heavy. My old bedroom is fit for a princess, the family room has Elvis staring at me from everywhere, and there just nothing manly about it. Not any more ! The basement is now been taken over.
Now my "mancave" is mostly Dolphins, it does have a fair amount of personal hockey stuff, Red Wings, and Buckeyes. I'll start with the front wall.
Here I have my jerseys, several Dolphins ( Henne, Ginn, Marino, Brown, Csonka) and a bunch of misc hockey jerseys. But the primary jersey you see here is one of the jerseys I got when a played against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni team. I wore ZT number and also got him to sign that jersey the last time the fins played in Detroit on Thanksgiving. A side note about the two times I played against the Wings Alumni, I'm a defenseman and they never scored a goal while I was on the ice. Moving on, a Gordie Howe signed helmet and puck ( 2 different stories ). Another biggie (for me) is the Mike Eruzione signed ad from the local paper. For those who don't follow hockey, he scored the game winning goal against the Russians in the 1980 Olympics. He also played for the Toledo Goaldiggers prior to the Olympics. That was a hell of a thrill back in the day...
Ohio State stuff was acquired in all places,....Houston,TX. That was our first stop when we started traveling and I stumbled across an ad for some huge card show. Hence the picture with Archie Griffin. He signed my mini "from one Griffin to another" #45 HT 74/75. Eddie George was also there and I got him to sign my Buckeyes hat. Funny thing is my middle name is Edward. So, Griffin Edward got to meet Archie Griffin & Edward "Eddie" George within 30 minutes of each other.
Next is three signed Dolphin balls. The 1st is from the last event at the Orange Bowl ( flag football game, Dolphin greats vs Hurricane greats). The other two are signed by multiple players from the last two seasons.
Here we have Brutus and some Buckeye balls. One the table we have a few more special things, and a bunch of pucks I've acquired in my travels. A Gordie Howe and Red Wings decorative plates. A hockey statue given to me by my Grandfather. And one of my favorite pieces, a Paul Newman signed 8x10 from my favorite movie Slapshot. Also some Mcfarlane Red Wings and a signed Wings hat from one of those games I played in.
Here are multiple views of the same thing. Lets go for the breakdown. ZT signed jersey and 8x10, 21 signed minis, Shula signed ball, JT signed pic and ball, John Offerdahl signed 8x10 ( to Griffin, hit the line hard ! ), Channing signed 8x10, Mercury Morris signed 8x10 ( to Griffin, "Perfectville" Pop. 01 ), HOF sign ( I liberated that from the campground we stayed at during Marino's HOF weekend), bunches of Marino stuff ( collector plates, state ball, doll, foam finger, bobblehead, HOF coin, Marino Iron City beer). Next to the Marino stuff is a Jake Long signed draft day hat, a collectable coin from the 1st time they wore their orange jerseys.
Anyways, there is a ton of stuff down there. More stuff than I can really display ( time to swag the local fanclub ). I have to say, I feel right at home down there. A TV, my drums, and a stereo completes the scene.
Now,...if we can get on with the season already !
