Scrolling down my Twitter list on a lazy monday night, I stumbled upon a tweet from NFL insider Chris Mortensen.
"mortreport Chris Mortensen RT @Bills_Chick: @mortreport do you think V Young to the #Billscould happen? > Don't know. I've heard Dolphins as a maybe."
Fans may react hesitant to this idea at first but I believe strong competition at the QB spot is extremely healthy for the phins. For the past 2 years Chad Henne really hasn't earned his spot as the number 1 QB, he has basically just inherited the spot due to injuries to Chad Pennington and un-known number 3 quarter backs who couldn't really compete, but with an acquisition like this, that may no longer be the case
We've never really seen Chad Henne as a fierce competitor; never trying to take chances downfield or try to get that extra yard, but with Vince Young hypothetically taking his talents to South Beach, all of that might change. Henne now feels the pressure that if he tanks this year he is gone, so he is already going to play desperate, now add on another QB in Vince Young dealing with the same situation and we got an intense rivalry.
With these two players competing in training camp and pre-season who knows what we would be in store for. Henne's arm Vs. Young's athletic ability would be a highly competitive and intriguing scenario. These are the stats of both players over the last 3 years to see how they matchup against each other:
CHAD HENNE: 2008-2010

VINCE YOUNG:

Obviously due to various injuries the stats are somewhat incomparable, but the 2009 season is where the closest comparisons can be made due to the amount of games both played. Henne wins in the completion, percentage, and yards (almost by 1,000) category easily and although it might seem that he did much better than Young, thats is not the case at all.
Our struggle over the past 2 years has been scoring touchdowns, and as you can see, even though Henne had almost 1,000 more yards than Young, he only had 2 more touchdowns. He also threw twice as many picks, and got sacked almost 3X more. Now I do know that their are a lot of other things to be taken account for when making these comparisons, like offensive line, wideouts, games played, etc. but it is noticeable that these two aren't too far apart from each other on the stat sheet.
Vince Young coming down to Miami would be one of the best acquisitions the Dolphins could make in the off-season because no matter who would turn out to be starter, we would know that he earned it, and confidence would be restored once again at the QB spot.
