BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR THE PATRIOTS

It's not the fact that Ingram went to New Orleans, but what the hell wouldn't they trade with us?

They gave up their 2nd (56th pick) and their first next year.  ANOTHER FIRST ROUND PICK FOR THE PATRIOTS.  Let's give them all of the first round picks, why don't we?  Surrender them now.  I'm so pissed.  I turned in before they picked so I missed the lower half.  Those friggin Patriots.  It would be them.

The trades

I don’t understand why the Saints gave up so much for it. Maybe a first rounder next year, but I wouldn’t have traded this year’s second as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if New England traded the 33rd pick away as well for a future #1. Unless they want to use it for someone like Bowers.

Maybe the no pre-draft FA fear factor played into this?

I will agree to disagree with you - as long as you understand that I'm right.

WE WOULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A #1 FROM THE SAINTS -

We would drop down to their spot and maybe get a 3rd based on the points. The Saints were stupid to give up so much when Ingram could have been had for less. Oh, the Patriots will trade again. They would rather have quality at this point, rather than quanitity. They will trade in their 33rd knowing they still have another 2nd and get another first just like you said. I agree with you totally. Now what do we do – we wait until the 3rd round because we have no ammunition to work with. Unless we trade in our 1st next year for now, which we won’t (please NO!!!!) do (hopefully).

Well, thank you both for your comments. I must start working now – I’ve already used up one-half hour looking at the Royal Wedding, stream-lining off my computer. I’m so happy for that young couple. Talk you gentlemen tonight. Have a good day at work/school. Stay safe.

The Saints

The Saints would have to give up a number 1 to trade with Miami because they moved up from the 2nd round, not the first. They kept their first round pick to draft Cameron Jordan. If New Orleans went from late 2nd round to mid-first round, I would sure as hell hope Miami received a 1st round pick.

You can say Miami could’ve traded #15 overall for #24 where the Saints drafted first, but they’d still have to trade back up (likely with NE) to get a second 1st round pick.

See - that's what I was thinking

I guess I didn’t state it well. Your second paragraph – trading with us from #24 to #15 would have been better – maybe losing only their 2nd round. But they wanted two top players.

The Saints

Yeah, it’s the fact that they wanted two top players that would’ve likely caused them to trade with NE again. Except if they traded a 3rd and their #24 overall for Miami’s #15, they’d be without a 2nd round and 3rd round pick after they’d trade with New Orleans. Overall, I think it worked out good for the Saints.

WE SHOULD ALL BE THANKFUL

THANK GOD the Pats didn’t get Ingram. He would have killed us. Watching the draft with my Dolphin friends and my Jets roommate, we were all screaming for the Saints to trade up and grab Ingram. I have no desire to have him in the AFC East.

phew

Yes

Thank God we kept him out of the AFC East by picking a center too!!

Couldn’t resist the irony… Am I happy with our pic… NO. Love the kid, and hope he does well, but I think we are now the Lions.

the lions made the best pick of the draft thus far...

try running the ball up the middle on them.

We have to go with WR busts

For about 5 years in a row for that to happen. I don’t see how you can compare us to Detroit when Miami hasn’t been bad at all with their drafts. We may not have picked players fans wanted, but we’ve picked a lot of solid players.

Dont forget

Where they pick also counts on Salary this year, so maybe Saints didn’t want to pay Ingram that much (though i agree, wish they traded with us)

Saying that, if the Saints win the SB, no one will care. and if the Pats DON’T win the SB, their fans should care!!

How many times will they pass on players that can help them win now, to stockpile? it will keep them competitive forever, but if they don’t win a SB, does it matter?

They passed before on Clay Mathews. If Ingram does become an Emmit Smith and gives Saints a scary balanced offense, and they win another 1 or 2 SB, trust me, the laugh is on the Pats.

It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile

WITH INGRAM ON BOARD

(Now I don’t know if they should be posted elsewhere or not) but with NO drafting Ingram, Reggie Bush, who is due, I JUST HEARD, $11-13 million this year, will be asked to re-negotiate his contract. He will balk at that and NO will attempt to trade him. So with that information, I gather he’s not a FA??
