I have been noticing alot of people are trying to "fix" our quarterback situation and or come up with trades to help our team improve. So here is my attempt. Now, before I get started let me preface by saying I am not TOTALLY sold on the idea but it would be interesting and most importantly feasible. I also understand that we need a new CBA agreement before the draft in April but I think they can get done. ( dont even get me started on this topic). Okay so here it is
. Everyone knows that Carson Palmer wants out of cincinnati and apparently is willing to retire if he isnt traded. I was listening to sirius radio and Andrew Whitworth ( bengals LT) was being interviewed, and said he has no doubt that CP will retire if not traded. So I am going to assume that CP is indeed a man of his word. This doesnt leave the Bengals with too many options.
The Bengals have the fourth pick in each of their rounds. What if we were to trade our first round pick to the Bengals for CP and their 3 and 4th round picks. We would then have two 3rd and 4th round picks. I know it may seem like alot to give up for CP but think about our QB DEPTH. I think everyone agrees that at some point this offseason we are going to pick up a QB, so why not get a seasoned pro SOMEWHERE within our depth chart. I think its safe to assume the original CP is done in Miami. I am not a "Henne Hater" but it is obvious he needs to improve, he is entering the last year of his contract and at the very least needs to prove he can play in the NFL. We need improved QB play!
I also think this kills two birds with one stone by virtually giving us a young proven QB and also giving us more draft choices (ala potential stars). I also think there will be some talent in the mid 4th round that could start on this team. Im thinking with the early third round pick we should go with Orlando Franklin (G) and then 11 picks later go with Shane Vereen (RB) and then 21 picks later go with Will Rackley (G/OT beast) then Wesley Saunders (TE potential steal). Okay let me have it!
