Just a thought for the faithfull readers here...
I have been hearing a lot lately about how Miami doesn't have a second round pick. It's common knowledge to everyone, unless you are living under a rock somewhere. We have all heard the rumors about potential trade downs to acquire another pick, but i can't believe what hasn't gotten mentioned yet-Or at least i haven't heard it yet.
If i were the GM of the Dolphins, why not draft the BPA available at 15, if of course you cannot trade down? Then, when the second round arrives, yes, we do not have a pick, but can't we trade back into the second round round if a certain player that the FO has their eye on is still there? That hasn't been mentioned yet (i don't believe). But why not? Why can't we package some picks, say our fourth this year, and a 2nd or 3rd next year, and get a QB, or speedy WR that they need? It is more possible i believe than trading down, especially with a team like New England that is notorious for trading down. I would have ot believe that if Mallet, Ponder, Kaepernick is still available in the 2nd, Miami would have to pull the trigger and move up. With that, i posted on one of the Fanshots of what my dream draft would be provided we cannot move down, and we trade back into the 2nd:
1st- Mark Ingram
2nd-Lawrence Hankerson
3rd-Colin Kaepernick, Andy Dalton,
5th round and beyond-All offensive Linemen
I know it may be a stretch, and you may think i am on drugs, but it will satisfy most, if not all of our needs. Thoughts??

All this "It will be almost impossable to trade down" talk
is not the case. Look who is behind us: Jax, N.E., and the Chargers all three need/looking for DE/OLB pass rushers. This means if there is only 1 or 2 Blue Chip de/olbers left at 15 you can expect SD, ATL, TB even NE wanting to bypass Jax to be calling. How about SD wanting to get past both NE and Jax to get that last blue chip OLBER/DE offering a 4th/3rd? Then the colts wanting to get past the Giants for the last OT they crave? If there is a run on DE/OLBER at 3 of these spots (15/16/17/18) and we are there what player will another teams feel “dropped” and thjey must have? I do not doubt for a minute a trade down oppurtunity will be available even 2 times IF no 2nd is to be had.
2 new rbs for 2011. Ryan Williams and DeMarco Murray???? I like. If we can trade down in first and get a 2nd or another 3rd *wink*

Not true
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/21/teams-may-trade-future-draft-picks-at-their-own-risk/
Teams were told “at their own risk” with the risk being their may not be a 2012 NFL draft, no matter what happens their will be a draft.
On the "get Jake Locker in the draft no matter what it takes" bandwagon
Lawrence Hankerson?

leonard hankerson...
I agree with Blaze453, we could trade 2x if we see a good run. That is an ideal situtation and I hope to see us get to trade back just once, but if the dream comes true and we still get Ingram or (insert BPA’s name that makes you happy) I wouldn’t be upset.
My thoughtrs all along, as i written "lots of stradigies" with that very same Idea in mind. First time not so far like SD, we could ask for there 1st & 2nd, maybe even a 4th or 5th.
Second time maybe (greenbay) or there abouts, we could obtain next years #1 from the like’s of Cinn, heck Denver has been real nice to us, Maybe they jump back into the first rd. We then can releave them of there 1st pick next year, or two #2’s pick’s this year. a third or fourth next year!

oops, my bad. i was typing so fast that i didnt realize it...lol.
I don’t think new england will trade up with us because they pick only two spots behind us and most likely jax won’t draft the player they like.
Where is Oronde Gadsden when we need him?

One thing you forgot
You can never tell what the Pats are thinking…….but if i had to guess they want Ingram…..
I doubt that.
Aldon Smith is more likely than Ingram, and he or Cam Jordan would require jumping Jax to be sure. But then, we could always take the other one…

and that is the ticket
especially since they have alot of young talent from the previous 3 drafts and have 8 picks in the first 4 rounds. Remember there might not be a draft have new bargaining agreement and league has said trade future picks at own risk. If NE wants an impact player or 2 on defense this is the year to do it I could even see them trading the 28th pick to say us(or another team) and having the 15th(whichever) and 17th pick in draft.

on that note...
Roethlisraper played where? Miami of OH? Yeah, great competition there.
Dan Marino played where? Pitt? Yeah, great competition there.
Brandon Marshall played where? UCF? Yeah, great competition there.
I see you ranked Dalton on your list….and he played where? TCU? Yeah, great competition there.
Something about Kaepernick intrigues me…. and just saying that your train of thought can create tunnel-vision for a team, meaning that you can miss certain gems.

Jerry Rice played at Mississippi Valley State
Terrell Owens played at Tennessee-Chatanooga
James Harrison & Antonio Gates played at Kent State
Steve McNair played at Alcorn State
DeMarcus Ware played at Troy
Rodney Harrison played at Western Illinois
Chad Pennington played at Marshall
Chris Johsnon played at eastern Carolina
And I could on and on here. It’s not just Pro Bowl quality players in that list, there’s Best of All Time players in that list. If teams only drafted players from Tier-1 colleges, they’d be limiting themselves in a big way.
Agreed - some great Players come from 2nd tier programs... but
What really bothers me about Kapernick is his long delivery and how he checked down a lot. …all the games & clips I watched – he looked a little better than average….
His size and speed served him well in college, but it won’t in the PROS.
with Mallett I see a QB who threw deep a lot (and successfully) and I see a guy who could make some very difficult throws. also I do not care about speed at QB, its a nice “add on” but most important is – Can the QB stand in the pocket and throw strikes on 3rd down ? Can he make the big throw down field ? Can he fit the ball into tight spots when needed ? Can he read defenses from under center…
Sure Mallett needs more “seasoning” but he seems to have the arm, leadership and size to be very successful.
