Falcons at Saints Monday Night Football Live Thread

Tonight, the NFL's second to last week concludes, with a Monday Night Football contest as the Atlanta Falcons visit their NFC South rival New Orleans Saints. The Falcons have been coming on as of late, making up for their slow start and looking for a playoff berth.

The Saints, meanwhile, are locked in to the playoffs, and can clinch the division with a win tonight. Of note for Dolphins, Saints quarterback Drew Brees is closing in on Dolphins Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino's single season passing yards record. Brees is just 305 yards behind Marino's mark of 5,084 yards, set in 1984.

Enjoy the game!

Good evening boys and girls

Here’s hoping Brees forgets how to throw these last couple weeks

got a lot riding on this game

trying to wrap up my league title. up by 55 with Sproles left versus Julio and Turner.

and trying to advance to title game in another league. up by 11 with Sproles, Moore, and Kasay left versus Brees and Turner. really sweating this one.

Would be a cruel irony if

Brees of all people broke Dan’s record. Oh well.

I hold NO ill will towards Brees

it’s not his fault he is not a Dolphin. He wanted us more than we wanted him. Too bad Nick Saban is a poor judge of QB talent.

by bbickley on Dec 26, 2011 8:58 PM EST up reply actions

i don't hold any ill will either.

He actually ‘wanted’ to play for us. And props to whoever that was for one of the more unique celebrations I’ve seen in a while.

Great, I joined Canal Street Chronicles in preparation to congratulate Drew Brees should he break Dan's record tonight

Now I see the 24 hour rule is in effect. I don’t understand why this is necessary for some blogs. I joined Baylor’s when Griffin won the Heisman and Kansas City’s when they beat Green Bay with no problem. Well hopefully he won’t do it tonight so it all works out

by phinsphan85 on Dec 26, 2011 9:08 PM EST reply actions

we have the 24 hour wait as well

It’s to try to stop trolls from coming over during or right after a game and spewing hate.

That's understandable

I just figured it was an all SB Nation thing and wasn’t aware some blogs had it while others didn’t.

by phinsphan85 on Dec 26, 2011 9:16 PM EST up reply actions

Each blog can pick how long the wait is.

On the day of the Heisman, we had a HUGE number of new people joining the blog, so I put it back down to no wait. But, normally, it’s a 1 day wait.

I'd say Long, Marshall, and Vontae are keepers

Just about anyone else is on the trade block. I’m more concerned what the #2 asking price will be. Griffin is the guy currently on my radar.

Painful game for Dolphins fans...

Ryan & Brees, two “woulda coulda shoulda” QBs who could’ve been Dolphins, both in the playoffs yet again. And Brees is most likely going to break Marino’s record on top of it all…

And No, I can’t let it go until we find a QB of our own & be a playoff contender

It’s ok, I love Marino as well as the ’72 Dolphins but we need to rewrite our own record books and get some wins and championships. Sick of watching former/should have been Dolphins winning

That's a good point beav

I’m also concerned with Long’s injuries. In the new poll on the front page I voted to trade him ONLY if we get Luck, but I’d rather give up less and get the #2 pick.

Even with Matt Moore, he’s finished 2 of 4 seasons on injured reserve I believe, plus a concussion this year? We can’t go forward with just he and Lossman, fawgedaboutit

Yeah, I just want to be excited going into next season beav

Let’s not forget, at least we have the announcement of a new HC to look forward to. I just hope we can get our new QB to go with it so we can already start this turnaround and then actually see how much help we need to add around him.

With Sanchez being bad, Fitzpatrick in doubt, Brady getting older, we seriously could rule this division again. We need to do it now while we have Marshall, Long, and Bush in their primse, as well as a very good-solid defense

Brees and Marino?

Well it was more difficult to do what Marino did back then. Today’s rules help the QBs now and it’s an overall pass first league. I guess you’d also have to factor in how much help each QB had around him but I only saw the last 5 years of Marino’s career so I can’t really say much about it.
