Looking at the draft order and seeing that Barkley is out, I'll just use this quote:
"Boy those wins over Kansas City, Washington, Oakland and Buffalo that were completely meaningless and had absolutely no bearing on whether we made the playoffs this year were totally worth it, right you guys?"

You right, you can say I told you so, I wanted wins because I always heard that there will be atleast 4 or 5 franchise QB’s if I knew there was only 1 DAMN, I really hope Colts win out and Rams trade pick……..

but no apology was needed. I know how it is, I’m feeling frustrated atm moment as well. The Colts aren’t winning out. There is NO WAY they win meaningless games this far into the season and lose Luck. The Colts would draft him right now it they could.

The wins over Kansas City, Oakland, and Buffalo (x2) were awesome
It was nice seeing dominant performances. Unlike other meaningless wins the last couple years where we would of been beating these shit teams by a field goal or less. All in all, I hope we trade up for Griffin III. I’m still bitter that the Colts are poised to get Andrew Luck after having Manning. That would’ve been like us drafting Manning when Marino was near retirement. Crazy.
Roberto Wallace is the next Miles Austin. That means it will be at least two more seasons before he's a game changer
Is it really QB or die? If we dont get a quarterback this year, will they stop playing NFL games?
Look, I want a QB that will bring respectability like the next person, but if the cards dont fall we cant force them and it shouldnt change our perception as fans.
I understand the rush, well, okay, no I dont. What is so pertinent that we absolutely must draft a QB in the first round THIS year???
People are allowing people like the dude to stir up.shit, that is his job, picture Armando with a shitty disposition and an unknown media outlet that allows him to swear and post half naked chicks. That ought to tell you enough about what that dudes job description entails. Get numbers, stir shit, get more numbers. Thats it. Point blank period.
Heres my take, if the team does solid and improves, and gets players that will improve the teams chances of winning, I dont care what we draft, as long as the team does better.
I no longer care if its a QB, a CB, a RT, NT, OLB, OG, FS, SS, whatever it takes to see progress. Either way it wont make me any less of a fan because I will still bleed aqua and orange.
One thing I wont do is call any win meaningless because it obviously meant something to the players, so it damn sure means something to me. What it means is while we arent at the Patriots level yet, or Green Bays, we damn sure arent on the same level as the Bills, Raiders, and Redskins or Chiefs. My point? In 2007 we were. This year is Denvers 2008. They rode a gimmick we were unprepaired for and won a few games, you can honestly tell me that Tebow is their answer to the super bowl? Thats like saying Sanchez is going to be a pro bowl QB.
We rode the 80s and 90s to supremacy, while the.supreme teams now were doing what we are now, and guess what? They survived and so will we.

I whole heartedly agree
Good points. We ALSO need help on our O Line. If we win games…and we don’t get a QB…go for an Olineman. Those QB’s everyone wants to come out this year…guess what…if we suck…they’ll be there next year.
Still a believer in having a top tier TE.

And YES
Before the S4L peeps come out and bash all of that…I do realize we need an elite talent at QB. We also need other players too. So if we can’t get a QB…go for the next best thing.

Just get the QB.
I’m way tired of saying, “wait’till next year.” I’ve been saying that for more than 10 years. We have a good team, lack very little except a big qb. So lets go get one for God’s sake@@
very passionate rant
I Love the Dolphins, in the’80s and ’90s supremacy we had Dan Marino but I was too young to see Dan Maino play, I Just want too see my generations version of Dan Marino…
I agree the blowout wins weren’t meaningless but I was looking too seeing Barkley in aqua and orange….
One thing all supreme teams have is a Quarterback, I never wanted too suck for luck but I’m disappointed that this draft isn’t as loaded with QB’s as I thought
PHINS FAN FOR LIFE....
Yes, Tebow is their answer...We could have gone from Marino to Brees.... But we were too stupid
We could have gotten Rogers… But we were too stupid
IMO, if you doubt Tebow, you will be with all the others who are having to eat crow. He’s a winner, may have unorthodox style, but he wins and he will get better and better.
We need to trade up. Just because Barkley is out doesn’t change our need, its still for a QB.
Trade up.
As to the stupid, meaningless games we won, OH WELL. Rule #1, the fans don’t control anything!!!! Don’t know why people keep acting like we could have affected the outcome of anything but the color of our underwear. Fans can’t win more or less games, only the players and coach can. What ever…. We still need a QB, our needs haven’t changed.
Love the rant
because I often go off on them but…
Is it really QB or die?
YES. You see how we are doing in games with Matt Moore of all people QBing. Imagine what would happen if we get a solid, next level guy in there, the possibilities are endless.

I don't get all this crap about not rooting for wins
I was happy when we won those games because you know what? Regardless of what we want this team or any team will play to win (even the colts as you saw today) so why not enjoy the wins we get and hope for the best? How would everyone have reacted if we had gone 7-0 and then tanked the rest of the year? Would you be pissed that you celebrated those first 7 wins? Can’t we all just agree that we need a first round QB? Regardless of where we end up in the draft?
Stop using logic, Maguss.

I know Maguss, and I fully agree
It just goes to show you how times have changed. In 2007 we won a single game. 1. We didnt nor were we destined to go to the superbowl with that game, but everyone who was a fan and endured it treated that single win as our own super bowl victory, and that singular win meant something.
Now because it affects some aspect, be it draft or any other self sugarcoating excuse, one win, two wins, hell anything minus a playoff appearance is set to doom and dismay.

Ya, and we took Jake Long and passed on Ryan and Flacco
We all can see how that turned out… We still need a QB, and Long is getting older…
yes because they have made multiple superbowls and have prooven to be hall of fame QBs....
Dude, what is done is done, and we got a helluva football player in the meanwhile. Can we change it? No. point blank, there is no use crying over spilled milk.
Sure we passed on Flacco, Ryan, and Rodgers. Other than Ryan, so did several other people. Sometimes it just happens. In the end we got Long, Vontae, Odrick and Pouncey. All players that can help our ballclub for years.
Unlike past regimes that went out and got us gamechangers like Jason Allen, Tedd Ginn, and countless others that arent even on the team anymore. My point? These guys could go on pretty much any other team and start.
We dont have our QB, or maybe we do, but just because they werent QBs doesnt make them bad picks.
by dolphinfan4lyfe on Dec 23, 2011 1:38 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
They weren't as good as Rogers, but much better than... him...
Long, et. al. are sitting playing their hearts out and must go to bed preying we get a franchise guy so they can go to the SB. Other wise there carers are wasted. No? Just look at what they say about Marino, he never won the SB. Well the only reason he didn’t win several was because the old man was too cheep to pay for the rest of the good players we/marino needed. Give him some defense and a running game, give him some receivers who didn’t drop the ball because they were coked out… and he/we would have had a dynasty.
Logic? Don't see it
If we had gone 7-0 we would be thinking super bowl, so of course we would be celebrating those wins.
But agree on the need, it’s still for a QB, it’s just going to cost us more now…
Trade up.
Dude
How would everyone have reacted if we had gone 7-0 and then tanked the rest of the year? Would you be pissed that you celebrated those first 7 wins?
We would’ve celebrated them of course because THEY MEANT SOMETHING. I’m not into moral victories. I’m into playoffs and the SB.
so why not enjoy the wins we get and hope for the best?
Do you not see our draft position? If you take a good look, you’ll see why.

Guess what every year we are in the same boat. With the exact needs as the year previous. Its time folks. Depending on where we end up in the draft order. We need to move up and get our guy. by dolphinfan4lyfe on Dec 23, 2011 10:06 AM EST via mobile reply actions
And how would we do that?
Were very likely going to be in an even worse draft spot next year because Moore is wining the games henne would likely have lost. So we’d have to trade WAY up next year to get Barkley as he will likely be the #1 pic.
You want us to suck all of next year to get the top QB?
Roberto Wallace is the next Miles Austin. That means it will be at least two more seasons before he's a game changer
LOL you need to take some remedial reading
Don’t think 9-7 is going to suck enough to get us the #1 pic. No, if we were to stink up the NFL, this was the year to do it. Besides, I have no say in if we suck or not.
Personally, I’d go as hard as reasonably possible for RG3 or Jones (and that’s really hard!! Anybody but MM), and if we can’t get them, build the best we can around MM, and shop for a good back-up.
We did this to ourselves. We could have had Brees, we could have had Rogers, we could have had McCoy, (yes I think he will continue to improve) we could have had Ryan, we could have had a lot of people. We could have gone from Marino to Brees… think of that!@ But no, we continue to play it safe, continue to make very poor choices.
Playing it safe has nothing to do with draft position though
It has to do with the people in the front office making the picks. Last I checked, Aaron Rodgers was drafted 24th overall. Drew Brees in the second round. On the other end, plenty of top 5 picks have failed. Look at the Rams. They drafted Sam Bradford #1 and have had several other top five picks and are still aweful. They actually have the potential to be in the number one spot this year and will face a huge dilemna with Luck if they do. We don’t need to suck bad enough to get a top five pick to get the quarterback of the future. But why look at facts and talk logically? Opinions are only as good as the facts that back them up-something that your opinion greatly lacks.
Roberto Wallace is the next Miles Austin. That means it will be at least two more seasons before he's a game changer
:) Don't like to do the research many here do, just don't get into it.
If I’m going to do research it will be in my field. So that said, it doesn’t make my opinion any less valid, as we both know stats can be twisted to fit any thing you want them to say pretty much.
You keep looking at failures, if you let failures guide you your never going to get to the top. Fear is good teacher. We have to go out and get the best we can, if they fail, they fail. But to sit back and draft more line without getting the qb is going to result is more seasons with meaningless wins.
I don’t need to repeat the stats for you about number 1 pics and the super bowl, do I? You read here as much as I do and should be familiar with them too. Most of the current SB winning QB’s came from the first round. End of story.
then we will have to trade up, and have less needs and ample picks/ players to do so...
You never quite know what is going to happen in any given week, let alone any given year.
Could be that a list of QBs comes out next year and some see others as better fits for their systems… Or could be that we have our solution in Moore, or even could be that we wind up getting a QB that can get us to where we want to be…. You never know what is going to shape tommorow, can only hope you do the things today to make tommorow easier to manage.
Do you need an example of how we dont really know shit? Reggie Bush… EVERYONE said he couldnt be an every down back, quite a few people said he wasnt a 1000 yard rusher, yet here he stands only 27 yards from reaching a goal that we said he couldnt.
Even funnier still is that it took an injury to our rookie RB to find it out, just like it took an injury from Henne to get a chance to catch a glimpse at what we have in Moore.
Truth is, there is plenty of viable proof that we have no clue about what were talking about, and that plenty of suprises wait around the corner. We would have never found out about Soliai if injuries to the DE position last year didnt force Starks back out, we were worried, and he suprised us as well.
Hartline, Bess, Vontae, Odrick, have all suprised us in some fashion. Stop being so dramatic.
by dolphinfan4lyfe on Dec 23, 2011 1:55 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Ask yourself this, then.
Would you rather be the Vikings, Rams, or the Dolphins? Do you honestly think those other two teams have a better chance making the playoffs next year than we do? Our team is dangerous when they play smart and play to win, and we are where we are because we aren’t as bad as those other teams. You always celebrate a win, nobody ever got rings by losing.
The Colts are going to get a ring for loosing
I think we will be more like 9-7 next year. Good enough for the playoffs, not good enough to go to the SB and have lousy draft spot.
lol
So I guess everyone who wants the dolphins to have a pats type dynasty is not a fan. You are only a fan if you want to wallow in mediocrity forever.

I dont see where anyone has said that,
In all fairness, I think what is going on here is that quite frankly, people stating we should actually LOSE games is whats causing the derision. There are some that simply argue we need a QB, some that simply state we HAVE a QB, and then a select few that say we need to lose now to win later.
The ones that say this i can honestly say come off as bad fans. Rooting to lose undermines the entire reason we became fans to begin with. Not to mention it has the same rwasoning as selling your soul to make your life easier.
There are many ways to go about getting a franchise QB, and choosing to lose for a better draft pick is the least admirable option. We get on the Colts for appearing to do that very thing, yet think it is okay to do it for us. It simply doesnt work like that.
This was arguably the most critical thing that Andrew Luck has caused to go wrong with how the NFL is operated. The mentality that it is okay to underwhelm your play simply to have a chance at drafting him. Yet some simply dont see how wrong this really is.

I think it's a tough dichotomy for being a fan
On one hand, every meaningless win takes us away from a better draft choice and the possible franchise QB we so desperately need. On the other, watching your favorite team win never feels bad. When Reggie Wayne hauled in the winning TD against the Texans last night, I heard the place erupt with cheers every though they knew a win could take them out of the Luck race that they’ve led all year long.
I think there is multiple levels to this discussion, but people aren’t looking at it that way. It has been a “with us or against us” attitude on both sides. If people would actually discuss EVERYTHING involved with this, then this topic wouldn’t be so divisive.
I have struggled this season with this topic. I lament the idea that we are moving farther away from the top of the draft, yet I love that we are crushing teams. I cheered for that perfect pass from Moore to Marshall last week even though I don’t think Moore is the answer at QB. Like Anish said, I too understand that the losses are a means to an end that will result in a brighter future. But I will never cheer for them or openly welcome them. I agree that every win now is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. But here’s how I see it.
In order to get the franchise QB we need, it is going to cost something. It was either going to cost wins or draft picks (trading up). We earned some wins and that means it’s going to have to cost us draft picks. Either case would have been painful for us. This fanbase erroneously keeps thinking that they can turn lead into gold. They keep trying to buy the palace using a pauper’s budget. We keep thinking that there is some cheap way to get a franchise QB and it keeps failing. At some point, the fans, the owner, the GM and everyone else will need to realize that it is going to cost us something more valuable. They keep trying to have their case and eat it too. They want to get a franchise QB, but aren’t willing to sacrifice anything to get it. But it was never going to be like that. We will have to give up SOMETHING. In your case, you were willing to part with wins. While that hurts, you knew that it was a bad means to a better end. To me, I am willing to part with draft picks to trade up.
And that’s why I am not upset about these meaningless wins. I knew all along that it was going to cost something. And since we aren’t sacrificing wins, I have no problem sacrificing picks. Now that I know this, I can enjoy the wins every week because I know the cost will be something else now. Will it hurt to give up a bunch of picks? Sure. But just like the other side of the coin, I see it as a bad means to a better end.
And one more thing… if the owner and GM weren’t or aren’t willing to see the cost involved to get the franchise QB, then they were never going to succeed anyway.

Heres my take, fuck a draft pick, a win is a win.
If draft picks are so important than give up what it takes to get the one you want, risk it bog, but dont ever think that any win is meaningless. Because it goes against the whole endeavor of what people are trying to say.
You win now, you have pride now, its that simple, only losers play to lose.

as a owner
you are going to have to take risks. Trade away future first rounders for a guy like Griffin and Luck. As a owner, r u going to sit there and cheer for ur team to lose just for the sake of a draft pick? Like I said, I hate losing. I hate when my team becomes a laughing stock in a league. Also, if we do lose, I won’t be mad cuz the draft pick gets higher. But never will I go into a Sunday rooting against the Dolphins like some fans do
