It has recently come to my attention that the Miami Dolphins won a game. Now I was just as surprised as the rest of you, not really because of the victory, but more of how they won. Scored fast, long TDs; only settled for one FGs; the secondary looked like a fire blanket and Burnett and Dansby started to look the players the organization is paying for.
I'm not going to sit here and lie to you, I was torn on whether or not I was happy or a bit disappointed the Dolphins won. The fan in me was ecstatic, 10 straight losses followed by a crushing victory always feels good. But, the realistic fan in me was disappointed, because our chances at Andrew Luck were severely lowered.
You can say I'm a bad fan or not a fan at all for wanting my team to tank a season to get ONE certain player. But, the fact of the matter is after I bleed Garnet and Gold my blood runs Aqua and Orange and I simply want what's best for the team in the long run.
Picture this: your boss calls a meeting and tells you and your co-workers that you're going to experience a loss in the current fiscal year, only to be followed by a decade of growth and prosperity for the company. You'd all be completely on board with that. Us fans that support the "Suck4Luck" campaign understand the we absolutely NEED a franchise quarterback and that more victories this year could just mean another mediocre pick in the middle of the first round for the 3rd year in a row.
Sometimes you have accept less, to gain more.
I will continue to root for my Dolphins in every game this season, and would not at all be surprised if they managed a few more Ws this season, they're a good team. But, for the sake of the franchise and us fans, we need Andrew Luck.
