Like most Dolfans, my dreams/nightmares have been consumed by this lost season. But this morning, I woke up with a smile on my face (keep it clean fellas!). I realized how lucky (not Andrew Luck-y) we truly are. Had this eventual epic fail have taken place last season, we would have ended up with.......Blaine Gabbert. Remember, leading up to the draft there was plenty debate as to who the #1 QB was going to be, with quite a few folks on the Blaine Gabbert bandwagon. Had we had the top pick in the draft, and assuming we didnt take a lineman, I am convinced we go Gabbert over Newton.
I'm not a Sparano hater, but I want a coach that not only works hard, but also works SMART. Like most of you, I am sick of being outcoached week after week, season after season. I'm also not a big fan of Ireland, but I actually really like our last draft. It's hard to place blame on Ireland for anything while Parcells was here, because who knows who made what call. Did he not pull the trigger on a FA tight end or trade/draft a QB, sure. But by the time we were picking 15th, and I like the Pouncey pick, there was no QB worth taking that early. You can argue Dalton but hindsight is 20/20. I also like the Daniel** Thomas (thx Rytackle!) pick at RB, kid is gonna be a player for us. Maybe Ireland did fail to draft Mallett, but we won't know if that was a mistake or not until the kid gets on the field.
I'm ready for change, and I won't shed a tear when Sparano and Ireland are gone, but I think most of the damage was under Parcell's watch and these guys aren't good enough to recover from it.
I'm just glad the next time we are on the clock, the Trifecta will have no role in our pick.
InFINcible (well maybe not this season :P)
