With Michael Vick breaking two ribs last week, Vince Young will start as the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback against the New York Giants tonight.

The New York Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles tonight, in a continuance of prime time divisional contests.  The NFC East has the spotlight, with the so-called "Dream Team" looking to climb to just 2 games under .500 - with Vince Young and not Michael Vick under center - while the Giants are trying to claim first place in the division by themselves - a game ahead of the Dallas Cowboys.

Notes about the game:

EAGLES: QB MICHAEL VICK is 2-0 at NYG. In those 2, has completed 33 of 55 (60 pct.) for 357 yards with 5 TDs vs. 1 INT for 101.9 rating & rushed for 234 yards (117 per game) & TD. Aims for 3rd in row at NYG with 2+ pass TDs & 100+ rush yards...RB LE SEAN MC COY is 4th RB since 1960 to score TD in each of team's 1st 9 games. Leads NFL with 12 TDs (10 rush, 2 rec.). Leads NFL with 69 1st downs & 57 rush 1st downs. Has 358 scrimmage yards (119.3 per game) in past 3 vs. NYG... In past 2 at NYG, WR-PR DE SEAN JACKSON has 2 PR-TDs (72 & 65 yards) & 49.3 PR avg. & has 9 catches for 230 yards (115 per game) & TD. Incl. playoffs, has 28 TDs (21 rec., 4 PR, 3 rush) in career & averages 45.2 yards per TD (1,265 yards). WR JEREMY MACLIN had 2 TDs in last game at NYG...CB ASANTE SAMUEL has NFL-best 38 INTs since 2006. Had INT-TD last week. DE TRENT COLE has sack in 5 of 7...

Star-divide

GIANTS: QB ELI MANNING aims for 3rd in row vs. Phi. with 4+ TDs & 100+ rating. Had 145.7 rating in last meeting. Is 2nd in NFL with 116.5 rating in 4th Q...RB AHMAD BRADSHAW had 139 scrimmage yards (86 rush, 53 rec.) & TD in last meeting. Incl. playoffs, when RB BRANDON JACOBS starts & has 21+ att., Giants are 11-1...WR VICTOR CRUZ had 3 catches for 110 yards (36.7 avg.) & 2 TDs (74 & 28 yards) in last meeting. What a NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.

Tony Stewart wins the race and the Championship over Carl Edwards, who finished second in the race. The two tied in points for the season – the tie breaker was most wins over the year, going to Stewart.

Amazing.

I wanted Edwards to win, but it was a good Chase

Both guys were racing extremely hard there at the end.

It was the first year in the history of NASCAR that two people finished the season tied in points

Yeah they were.

That was incredible. You know Carl was frustrated just sitting there doing everything he could, and watching the 14 stay out there.

I was really hoping for a caution so that they could really race hard for the title

but it was a good race. The best Chase they’ve had so far, IMO.

Is NASCAR just a southern thing?

I am from Minnesota, and besides my hillbilly co-workers have never met a person that actually enjoys watching a bunch of stock cars turn left for an entire day. I am not trying to disrespect any of your guys values, but am just curious how you got into NASCAR?

by Goobs4Life on Nov 20, 2011 8:21 PM EST up reply actions

I went to college 30 minutes south of Daytona.

One of my best friends was big into NASCAR, so I ended up watching it, and learning about the teams, and the rivalries. Once you get to know all that, you’re hooked.

Its roots are from the south, but it is an international thing now

In fact, NASCAR is the second most profitable sport, only trailing the NFL. Most of the drivers aren’t from the south, and some are from other countries. Many drivers from other series like Formula One try to move to NASCAR because it is more profitable. Most of them fail however (only Juan Pablo Montoya has had any success.) So while NASCAR gets a bad rap as a backwoods, deep south, hillbilly sport, it is much more popular than that and has the best drivers in the world.

It's going to get even bigger next year as Danica Patrick moves to the Nationwide Series

and runs some Sprint Cup races.

Nationwide is like the Triple-A to Sprint Cup’s Major League. Although Nationwide actually gets televised on Saturday nights.

I still remember the days when jim kelly would make my life miserable .

so I feel little sympathy for the hapless bills. I am sorry they lost so many guys to apparent serious injuries though. I never wish for injuries( unless rex happens to wander into the field )

I don't want to see injuries either

but after watching the Bills success in the 90s, I’m glad to see them struggle.

I dont see it that way.

I have deep admiration for their club and for what they have accomplished this season. I told the folks over at Buffalo Rumblings that at the end of the game. Their clubs in the 90’s have nothing to do with their current team.

I'm pretty hard core about it

I basically have complete disdain for any team other than the Dolphins. The AFC East, including the Colts, are all despised. Pittsburgh and Denver are next on the list followed by Dallas. The only team I can tolerate is the Panthers. If the Dolphins played the Panthers every year in the SB, then I would find that acceptable. Everyone else can suffer for all I care.

I live in NC, so they're like the home team

But in reality, I only want the Dolphins to ever win. If it were possible for every team in the league but the Dolphins to lose every Sunday, then that’s what I would root for.

and I'll admit there is some vindictiveness associated with that

All those years that they went to the Super Bowl meant that Marino didn’t get to play in the Super Bowl. I want them to pay for that. 35-8 wasn’t a high enough score for me. I wanted to score 100 points on them.

Ahh i see

I really love this team, but I hold no real hatred for other clubs. In the end its a game and these players are all proffesional athletes trying to make a living and help their club win in any way possible. Except the Patriots, I feel somewhat differently about their team. I also have a soft spot for that Bills club. I have alot of admiration for what they have accomplished and for so many of their players and where they have come from. I hate to see theit year get ruined like it has and to see players like Doug Jones, Terrence McGee, Stevie Johnson and David Nelson get hurt. But thats the game of football I guess.
