Bills at Dolphins Rapid Reactions - Miami Defeats Buffalo 35-8

What a game by the Miami Dolphins as they completely dismantle the Buffalo Bills, winning 35-8 in a rainy Sun Life Stadium.  The Dolphins beat upon the Bills all day, completely overwhelming them in every aspect of the game.

The Dolphins so dominated the Bills, that Buffalo finished the game 0-12 on third down conversions.

The second half of the game became an exercise in killing the clock, as the Dolphins led 28-6 at the half.  The only points scored in the second half came off a Chris Clemons blocked punt that Lex Hilliard recovered in the endzone for Miami, and running back Daniel Thomas getting stood up in the endzone for a safety after Miami took over on their own 1 yard line when Buffalo failed to convert on fourth and goal.

The Dolphins have won their last three games, while Buffalo has now lost three in a row.  The Dolphins have not allowed a touchdown during any of those victories.

The Dolphins are just the third team in NFL history to win three straight games after starting the season 0-7.

Kmb8488 will post a full recap of the game tomorrow morning.  Enjoy a third straight celebration thread and use this for the afternoon live thread.  Look for a full thread for tonight's Sunday Night football game as well.

think about this...

what if Henne had not gotten hurt… these guys woulda been content going the whole year with him when it’s obvious right now Moore is a better QB.
I’ve always liked Tony, but they should’ve known this from the beginning of the season. so for everyone jumping on the “bring these guys back” bandwagon, slow your roll.

by BULLieving in Miami on Nov 20, 2011 4:57 PM EST via iPhone app reply actions

It's the defense and aggressive play calling

I don’t see the next Aaron Rogers when I watch Moore take a 13-yard sack instead of getting rid of the ball.

by DrJay32 on Nov 20, 2011 5:47 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

not saying he's the next Rodgers

but I don’t think it’s a coincidence our redzone offense is much better with Moore than with Henne. Moore has better touch on his passes, and moves around better. people were getting enamored with Henne’s scrambling this year, but IMO that’s checking down in disguise. he doesn’t have the guts to make a throw when he needs to, and the truth is Moore is making those throws right now.

by BULLieving in Miami on Nov 20, 2011 7:50 PM EST via iPhone app up reply actions

Moore was struggling in the beginning too.

I think it has to do with our running game getting better and the fact we are throwing to our TEs now.

Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB

That is because of the offensive sputters in the end of the last two games.

No next Rogers, but 3 straight wins and productive passing in the red zone

has the team believing in Moore. You can see and feel the difference when the O takes the field and the defense responding and protecting points put on the board by our offense.

I think its more on the players

In a shortened offseason, with no contact from the coaching staff allowed, its the players responsibility to keep themselves in shape. This is their JOB. One they get paid handsomely to do.

Couldn't agree more

Makes me wonder how things would’ve been if there had been a normal off-season. I know, I know: coulda shoulda woulda. Still, the defense has made great strides after a pretty bad start, and even the offense looks better – no settling for field goals today, and a blocked punt TD for the first time since the Cold War ended. Let’s hope they keep it up!

While I agree that Tony must go there was a competition that Henne happened to have a huge leg up on with the fact that he had the new offense to learn going back to April. Moore did not.

I also don’t think they gave him a fair shake in preseason. he was, at the minimum, playing on par with Henne. and still, they wouldn’t give Moore a shot with the starters.

this looks like the KC win

The offense dictates the pace of the game by getting out and scoring tds early, and building a lead.I think the Defense not having allowed a TD in the last three, at least in two of those three KC and Buff was helped by,the offense forcing the other team to play catch-up, and the Dolphins D has played better with the lead.Dont start drawing the blue print just yet,as their are scouts for the Cowboys who will report the same thing back to their team.Try to get a lead on the Dolphins and dont let them get the early lead. The good thing is there is only 4 days until the next game so if they havent already game planned it might be too late.Lets see if the Fin offense can keep the pressure on the Cowboys by taking an early lead.

by broxtone on Nov 20, 2011 5:59 PM EST reply actions

It's one thing for an 0-7 team to win three in a row.

It’s another to do it by a combined score of 86-20.

Two points -
1) Once it was clear that the Colts would get Luck, I was entirely back on the ‘win every game’ bandwagon, so this has been an absolute delight, and
2) Seeing the potential of this team being fulfilled makes me not feel so dumb for saying we were an 8-8 or 9-7 squad before the season.

I really feel with a better HC we’d be around 5-4 or with luck 6-3.
There’s talent here, guys. There is a future here.

The Dolphins dominated on all sides of the ball

The O is working, Clay is looking sharp, the D is coming together, our special teams has been quietly really solid…

But I just want one thing to not get swept under the rug of all these great things that happened today:

Brandon Marshall.

The guy continually blows it on plays that matter. Yes, he has accumulated some nifty rec and yardage stats, but he’s starting to not be able to pass the sniff test when it matters. Whenever he has a chance to make a BIG PLAY, he blows it. Today it was the TD drop and the 3rd-down drop.

as a current QB/TE/RB/SS/ILB

I can see both sides of it. When I am at QB, TE or RB, I have been hit hard illegally when I couldn’t possibly defend myself ( when in the motion of throwing, when I am in the air trying to catch, when I have my back to the defender), and I can see how much this restricts the defender when I play SS and ILB.

Hard hits are a part of the game.

WRs can afflict as much pain on DBs as DBs can. Ward gave a LB a broken jaw after catching the ball once.

I get protecting the QB but a helmet hit shouldn’t be called when the QB curls up and the defender hits the helmet when going for the chest/stomach.

There are other instances where Ward gave a crushing blow to a DB after catching it.

Point being, if you run a good enough route to give yourself time to lower your shoulders, you can initiate the contact. I know because I’ve done it when catching the ball.

I completely disagree

obviously by the current rules it was a foul and I think we both agree on that. What I believe you are saying is that the rules should be written so that such hits are not fouls? Heres the problem. Yes the hit normally would be clean. Stevie Johnson was going to the ground in the process of the catch which exposes him unnaturally to what normally would be a clean play. Tyrone Culver played it just right. He took the proper angle, initiatedwhat normally would be chest-to-chest contact and he rolled his hips through the collison. Perfect fundamentals on the backend. However the fact remains that due to Stevie Johnson going toward the ground, the collision that he initiated was head-to-head. What should the rules state if they dont state that head to head contact on a receiver who is in the process of making the catch is illegal?

Also it should be noted that the NFL has worked very hard to eliminate the gray areas in officiating. To leave such a call to the discretion of the referee contradicts what the NFL has been trying to do.

He stayed on his feet and led with this shoulder. Stevie Johnson was falling just right to where the contact was helmet-to-helmet. Throw the flag, I understand that the rules are the rules so the penalty is justified, but don’t fine a guy who makes a great hit with no malice.

Moore looked good, even if the Bills have absolutely no pass rush whatsoever. He threw that nice ball to Clay who in turn made a nice diving catch. A few things to note about the game and the people that played in it:

The last time that Bush had rushing scores in three consecutive games was during the 2009 season as a member of the New Orleans Saints (10/18/09 vs. New York Giants, 10/25/09 at Miami and 11/2/09 vs. Atlanta).

The things that stick out to me is

Jared Odrick has 4 sacks in 5 games. I am beginning to see why we drafted him.

12 quarters without a TD is amazing. Especially since the team seemed out of focus for the first 7 games.

Matt Moore has led the dolphins to 11 touchdowns in 16 tries in the red zone. That in itself is an accomplishment.

His rating was 133.3 for the game, and his 3 touchdowns also speak for themselves. When is the last time a QB for the dolphins accomplished either?

Fasano is on pace to beat his season high td receptions at this point. If him and Clay continue this type of play, do we even need to think TE this coming draft?

Say what you want, but it looks like Irelands first offseason with the leash off, has been very fruitful. He did a tremendous job and it should be noted.

Is it wrong to say that a GM should get the game ball?
