Miami Dolphins Week 10 Game Ball
This might be the easiest Miami Dolphins game ball to give out all year. There's not a whole lot of suspense on who was the best player from the Dolphins 20-9 victory over the Washington Redskins.
After the game, this player declared himself the best linebacker in the NFL. If he can keep up his performance over the past four weeks, he might have an argument. He has averaged 10 tackles each of the past four games, along with racking up an interception, a sack, a forced fumble, and three passes defensed.
And this is for a Dolphins inside linebacker.
During the Redskins game, he picked up that sack, 10 tackles, and two passes defensed. He's taken charge of the defense, and is starting to play up to the level expected when the Dolphins brought him in last year. He finally seems comfortable in his role next to fellow linebacker Kevin Burnett, and the two of them are starting to raise the Dolphins defense back towards the performances we all expected to see from the start of the year.
The Dolphins haven't given up a touchdown in two games.
Of course, I am talking about Karlos Dansby, the winner of this week's game ball. Dansby played some lights out football this week, bringing Miami their first home victory in 364 days.
Hopefully, he can keep playing at this level the rest of the year.

He was a Beast!
But I dont care for the Rex Ryanish Bragadoshisnous! if ur the BEST u dont have to say it ur play will speak for itself!
Ehh, I kind of like it.
His production the last 4 weeks warrants some talking, and the loudmouth braggadocio was what went missing when we released CC.
The difference is, his play merits his point to some degree. He has successfully played all four spots on the linebackers position, translated his exceptional play from a 3-4, to a 4-3, & back to a 3- 4.
I believe he has also played a few plays as a 4-3 DE, when he was with the Cardinals.
Lets be honest, except for Vontae’s declaration, this is the attitude we have been pining for since we dropped CC. At least he is backing it up and lets face it, we havent has this solid of play at MLB since ZT was playing.
He is on par for 100+ tackles, 15+ passes defensed, 5+ int’s, and 5+ sacks on the season. A feat we expect more out of our OLB’s. If Wake was on course for these numbers, we would be extatic.
Besides, since he has been playing better, so has our defense. At least someone other than Bell leads the team in tackles this week.

ur right about needing attitude
but to claim ur the best at ur position, i didnt expect that from him! I love him bro!!! He needs to make the probowl a few times to even be in consideration! as a Dolphin!
He was asked a question and he answered it...
I prefer the confidence to deflection and shying away from the challenge. Our defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown in 2 games. That deserves some high recognition, and Dansby is a leader of our D…. Let the man take the good with the bad, lol.
Also, Probowl is not necessarily a great yardstick for player skill….
The thing is, in order to express the highest confidence, you have to claim to be the best
Doesnt sound as good if a guy says “i am the fifth best linebacker in the league” now does it?

I am wondering if this play will be Alejandros
anatomy of a play from this week. Ultimately Karlos Dansby made the play but it was a great defensive call.

NO
the Bush sweep from the akward formation has scored TD’s back to back weeks! that is the only play that should be dissected! I LOVE THAT RUN!!!!
That would be a great choice as well as it
was the play that culminated the drive, that put the redskins in serious trouble. That was a great fourth quarter. Exemplifies how you finish a football game in the NFL.

Swagger
I’m all for swagger, but it looks kind of dumb coming from a 2-7 team though. And the Redskins without half their offense?? Really?? How about beating the Jets, Patriots, or even the Cowboys. The Chiefs had a good record but are full of injuries also.

I felt the same
but it just might be the kinda kick in the ass the team needs.
Of course, if it ain’t backed up…..
I never got a prize for doing what was expected of me.
Dansby
One more note to add. If Dansby was the best, then he would have stopped Tebow from scoring that tying TD when everybody on the planet knew what the play was. And they supposedly were lined up wrong. Even if that were the case, the so-called best LBer in the NFL would correct it before the snap.

Well that isnt fair. We are in agreement that Danby isnt the best Inside Linebacker in football.
However the play you are using as an example doesnt carry much validity. The first problem o that play was the defensive alignment. Teams know that the Dolphins have far more trouble stopping the run out of our nickel and dime sets (with ILB play on the perimeter being one of the reasons this season no doubt but this example isnt really Dansby’s fault. The Broncos went 4 wide with a single back in the pistol formation, Knowshon Moreno, who was then sent wide, Dansby actually followed him to the perimeter in man to man coverage. We let this happen to disguide our look. Tebow instantly saw now that we had no inside linebacker in the middle of the field so the draw appears open. What we did to remedy this is bring pressure (so as to isolate our man to man defenders) on the outsides and force Tebow inside. Upon the snap of the ball Will Allen and Kevin Burnett blitzes off of the edges and Yeremiah Bell shuttled inside into the Middle linebacker position. That is a pretty good call for what we thought (and ultimately did) come at us. On this play Will Allen took slightly too deep an angle into the backfield and the right side of their line did an awesome job against Cam Wake and Tony McDaniel which opened the crease for Tebow to run. The reason why players stated we had the wrong formation had to do with not having our “big” D-line package on the field not so much with alignment. It was a good call from Mike Nolan, we just didnt execute it as well as we needed to and despite having used a timeout already didnt put the personnel on the field that we probably needed.
Dansby was completely out of the play and covered Knowshon Moreno at the bottom of the screen.

Game ball
But Dansby does deserve the game ball for this game. He just needs to shut up and keep playing as does Vontae.

Game Ball - Yes
Dansby played great the last 3 games….finally.
But where was he early this year ? How about last year ? Last year he was above average – nothing else…. This year he came into camp overweight and out of shape… I read somwhere 40 pounds ? Can anyone verify that ?
My point is that ITS ABOUT DAM TIME HE STARTED PLAYING UP TO HIS CONTRACT.
Where was he during the 0-7 start ? sure – lets stand around bragging about how great “he is” now that we are 2-7. My old high School coach would have BENCHED HIM for those comments with a 2-7 record….
and how about vontae – makes ONE play this year and runs around like he just won the WORLD CUP…..Its no wonder we are 2-7.
41 Year FIN FAN
Franchise QB... NOW !!! ...Draft Ryan Mallett ...Draft some Freakin speed for a change. WR & RB speed kills......
20 pounds.
He showed up at 270. His playing weight is 250. He’s now at 246.
And, without a off season conditioning program, and all that, Dansby was not the only player in the league to come in too heavy.
Sept. 26, 2010 - 2012/2013 Draft Kyle Padron Bandwagon
Missing the point
My point is if you really are the best as you proclaim, you should not have to be told what to eat, how to train, etc. The best already know and do it without being told or making excuses. Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL and he didn’t even have a team meeting in the offseason and he has 9 straight games with over 100 QB rating. That is an example of the Best.

I have to disagree with you.
Not always does the best athlete know what to do on their own. Case in point: Mike Tyson. When he lost access to his first trainer, and subsequently got a new one after prison, he was not even close to where he was beforehand. Some athletes need coaches. Sure, Manning most certainly doesn’t, but I’d say the percentage of athletes that are just as good on their own, as opposed to being under a coach’s supervision, is pretty low.

Apples and oranges
Your comparison holds no water. Tyson has a noted mental health issue and the only person on the planet that could keep him under control was Cus D’Mato. Once he passed away, that was all she wrote. Totally different sport and situation. Not to mention, Tyson didn’t run off at the mouth about how he was the best either. Granted he was a brawled, but if he didn’t knock his opponent out after 3 rounds than he was in trouble both mentally and physically (conditioning).

One more thing
Also we are not talking about a “percentage of athletes” as you stated. Were talking about the supposed “best” at their position as in one- like inside LB as is Dansby and his self appointing as the best.

Dansby deserve the game ball but people need start giving Soliai more credit for the job he is doing
Soliai is doing a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage and taking up two blockers. You may have not heard his name during the game but Soliai is getting the job done at NT
Wish we could sim this season
Agree
totally agree. And that was a BS penalty for roughing the passer on him as well!

Paul Soliai is playing some outstanding football right now.
He is really an amazing football player and its amazing to what standard we as fans judge his performance on plays. However the roughing the passer call was the right call. No matter what you may think of the rules (and I dont like how this rule is written at all) and contact to the Quarterbacks head is illegal. Soliai hit Grossmans helmut upon contact with each other which is by the rules a foul.

Thank you for the insights you've been providing..
I learn, and I need to know how some of the players are doing individually.
