Let me start off by saying I am still riding high from last weekends DCC and the introduction of M.O. Sunday cannot get here fast enough, but luckily I had some things to do to fill the time.
Firstly, on Monday night I headed over to catch Channing's show one last time before we head over we get out of the Ft Lauderdale area. His guest on this night was Tony McDaniel.
M.M. meet Tony McDaniel. Tony McDaniel meet M.M.
On Wednesday we headed over to Marco Island to visit with my Uncle who came down for a weeks vacation. He stay at a nice time-share over there and they had this killer fountain in front of it. It was a perfect photo-op for M.M.
Now,...lets get to the "meat" of the story,....literally. I got a call from Stripe yesterday asking if I wanted to represent The Deep End in the Beast Challenge over at Bokampers. The Beast Challenge is simply this, eating a 5 LB hamburger in one hour. It topped with 8 slices of bacon, 4 pieces of cheese, & 4 fried eggs. I replied, " I might be crazy, but I ain't stupid" as I respectfully declined. He said, "think of the exposure you'll get" . I said, "I don't think I'm under exposed".
Anyways, another Deep Ender stepped up to the plate to go head to head against an intern from the Finisher TV/radio show so I was off the hook. We showed up around 4:30 for the 5:30 start time as to get a good seat. Naturally, I was hungry as well and was going to complete in the " Feed Mr & Mrs OFF4L Dinner Competition". Me, lobster bisque, side caesar salad, 10 wings, followed by some key lime pie. Her, french onion soup and beef nachos. WE WIN !!!
As it turns out, the show is hosted by 3 people. Two that are former Dolphins, Keith Sims & Sam Madison.
M.M. meet Sam Madison. Sam Madison meet M.M.
Now, a few of us Deep Enders came out to support Walter in his challenge. He was looking good and feeling confident.
After a short pep talk, it was on ! And I got to tell you, this picture doesn't do that burger justice. It was huge !!!!
Now it's well documented that M.M. digs the ladies,....tonight was no different.
M.M. second hobby,.....what else,....mountain climber.
How I'm going to smoothly get back to the story,.....I'll never know. Have I mentioned I'm from Toledo ?
OPPS ! Wrong picture,....sorry.
Try this one,...
Now we are back on track,...I think. Walter had a solid strategy, he cut the burger into 4 pieces and attacked it as if it were 4 very large hamburgers. At just over the 30 minute mark he was almost half way done. But I noticed his pace began to slow. Just then Stripe sat next to him to give him some words of encouragement. It didn't work. It's safe to say this was an epic fail ( don't look if gross things bother you ). I give you,.....puke. Too funny having been there to see it with my own two eye.
I always say,...nothing ventured, nothing gained. Walter gave it his best, but The Beast took down another victim. Hats off to you Walter, cause I couldn't have done it.
That's all I got for now, but this Sunday is shaping up to be a grand event over at E-12 prior to kick-off. So, if you're in the neighborhood stop by and say "hi". All are welcome, and good times are a plenty.........unless you decide to try to eat a 5 LB hamburger.
