The Phinsider Week 4 Power Rankings

Week 4 - Green Bay still #1.

Another week, another top spot for Green Bay.  It's amazing how much better than just about the rest of the league they are.

Elsewhere, the trend of good teams being bad and bad teams being good continues.  Before the season, everyone was jumping on the Detroit darkhorse bandwagon.  Did anyone see them as a team worthy of receiving a second place vote in Week 4, and sliding in as the fourth best team in the league?

Meanwhile, Atlanta should be challenging New Orleans for the division title, all while holding off Tampa Bay.  But, someone forgot to tell them this.  They jumped out to an early lead in Seattle, but then had to hold on to squeak by with the two point win.  The team just looks out of sorts right now.

This week's largest jump belongs to Tennessee, who rose seven spots from 17 to break the top 10.

The furthest fall was Dallas, who fell five spots from 13 down to 18.

There's an announcement this week, as well.  Starting with next week's Power Rankings, we will have a guest ranking the teams as well.  Each week, I will randomly choose someone from the comments made on the Power Rankings post.  Whomever it is, I will then email and let them know they have been selected.  All they have to do, then, is send me an email ranking all 32 teams.  Simple right?

As the bye weeks start this weekend, it will be interesting to see what happens when a team doesn't play.  Will they move up or down, based on what everyone else is doing?

Make the jump to see the full rankings, and the comments from our contributors.

Defense picked up the slack Sunday against the Jets. Consitency on offense is still needed, though, as Joe Flacco's completion percentage was horrid in Week 4. (kmb8488)

come on Phins!

lets rattle some cages and create some wins! Is 11 out of 12 too much to ask for?

wow, bottom half of the league looks just awful. I wanted to say the eagles were being over-rated, but then i looked at the teams below them and thought differently.

Man if you guys get Luck this will officially be the toughest division in football.

Then again, you guys will need a competent coaching staff before that happens…
I’m rooting for you guys though. I liked it better when we were ruling the division rather than having NE and the Jets as top dogs.

BuffaloRumblings sucks. I got banned because I used to shred their crappy articles in the comments section. Plus I would present the best arguments and make the best points, just to have them "warn" me for being "aggressive" and then they would make articles using the very substance of my posts...Wow Rumblings, you guys suck and can't handle having someone who isn't a mindless drone that agrees with everything you spew.

agreed

And I firmly believe cowher power is not the solution. Look at the way cowher built the steelers, a tough D and punishing O-line (well the O-line isn’t that great anymore, but it was once amazing). He didn’t have a true franchise qb till big ben came in. That is what cowher will do here. He seems as if he is more likely to stockpile picks and trade away the number 1 pick, while getting matt kalil, instead of getting luck. Cowher is not what this organization needs, the fans want an exciting O, and great qb, cowher will make a great D, with a “gets the job done” O. And don’t even start on gruden, gruden was given a super bowl team, and then he destroyed it.

I'm worried about NE

how many draft picks do they have next year? They might want to trade up for Luck…

Chyt i think they have at least two 1st rd. picks? They could also "throw in" the following years #1 pick. The Rams wood fall head over heals giveing away there 1st pick for that deal!

Just saying nothing is sacred anymore. Money hooks, needs to get bilacheat away from the new england patseys or it could be another 20 years+ of suxable delights!

I would love luck

But we possibly might not get him. If that’s the case who do we pick? Laundry jones is built from the spread offense. Were a ground and pound team. Barkley shows promise but didn’t matt lienart and Carson Palmer? I do think the henne era is over. But the only option I see us getting to go the the next level is luck. There’s also foles but he doesn’t seem to look like the elite quarterback luck could become. I say if we can’t get luck, pull a bill bellichk and trade for picks. What’s worth a top 5 pick? A Hella lot.

I think the Niners and Titans are overrated in this

SF has still been inconsistent and hasn’t been able to put away some of the weaker teams in the league. This is a team that could end up losing 5 of their next 7 games (TB, Detroit, Washington, NYG, and Baltimore).

The Titans are still pretty good and deserve to be in the top 15, but I’m not sold on their defense yet. They’re toughest matchup has been Baltimore, which they did do pretty well on. They’ll get a solid test in 3 weeks with Houston. If they can get by Houston or at least hang with them, I would consider them at the rating they’re currently at.
