The Dolphins came in to week 8 as one of the three winless teams with the #1 pick in sight. They started out hot with a rushing touchdown from Steve Slaton to make it 7-0. The Giants came back with a long drive that ended with a field goal to make it 7-3. Reggie Bush looked like the player he should have been all season with a 35 yard rush and two 20+ yard runs on the same drive leading them to a 14-3 lead after a 4th down conversion and a rushing touchdown from Matt Moore. The Dolphins went into the half with the lead for a second straight week but for the second straight week they looked like the worst team in the league during the second half of the game.
Eli Manning led his team back from a 14-3 deficit with 349 yards on 31 of 45 passing with 2 touchdowns. This loss could have been the worst loss of the season because the Giants literally played horrible the whole game; the defense looked horrible, receivers were dropping passes, and yet again the Dolphins still found a way to lose the game.
On a good note, only the Dolphins and Colts remain winless. The Minnesota Vikings won this week giving themselves their 2nd win of the season and the St. Louis Rams won their 1st game of the season putting both of those teams out of the “Suck for Luck” campaign as of right now. To quote Joe Pesci in Raging Bull, “When you win you win, when you lose you still win.”
