PrintIt all comes down to this: World Series Game 7. St. Louis continued the theme of their 2011 season, coming back at the last minute to win. With a walk off home run from David Freese, who also tied the game with a two-out, two-run triple in the ninth inning, the Cardinals beat the Rangers 10-9 in eleven innings.
If you missed the game, craziness ensued to finish the game. After the Rangers took a 7-4 lead in the 7th inning, things seemed over. Fans were leaving Busch Stadium and the crowd remaining was silent. Allen Craig hit a solo home run in the eighth inning, bringing the Cardinals to within 2, before Freese's two out homer tied it up in the 9th.
But, the madness continued into the extra innings. Texas scored two runs on a Josh Hamilton home run in the 10th inning, again seeming to put the game away. Some great small ball play brought the Cardinals back, tying it up again in the bottom half of the 10th, before they would go on to win it in the 11th.
Which, brings it back to the final game of the Series. It's a winner take all showdown, with the National League's win in the All Star game giving the home field advantage to the Cardinals.

Sorry. It gives me terrible headaches. Probably the formaldehyde that Budwiser uses in their beers
as a preservative. It’s perfectly legal and so they say safe but I am not a huge fan of drinking embalming fluid. I am just funny that way.

but the fact that St. Louis had home field for these last 2 games is ridiculous. To have the ASG determine home field is completely assinine
I agree but in the end it was CJ of the Rangers that lost the AS game so......................

the home field part? That hasn't been around long enough to be a tradition.
IMO it’s just stupid that they have that rule. And if the game is watchable then it shouldn’t need that stipulation. An exhibition game is an exhibition game. The fact that the team at the all star break with a 15 game lead on everyone else would have a 0% chance of having home field in the most important games of the year just based on the league their in is just ludacris

Your correct that it is not tradition and besides some of baseballs traditions are the exact thing that is causing
it to loose traction with the younger generations. The NFL changes with the times as do the other two major sports with the goal of making the sport more exciting and appealing to the fans. That coupled with the stupid ass financial set up of MLB will be the downfall of it in the long run.

I agree, and being a Yankee fan, it actually bothers me quite a bit
I know this is a problem most baseball fans would like to have, but it’s pretty sad when all you feel is relief when you win a WS. I’d like them to flush everyone out, trade everyone (which won’t ever happen cuz nobody is picking up these silly salaries) for draft picks and prospects, and start over. Out of the 5 championships i’ve witnessed, ‘96 was the best. ’98 was great, ’99 and ’00 became ho humm and ’09 was just relief to equal the amount of Red Sox championships that decade and to make it seem we weren’t a complete laughing stock for signing texiera, sabathia, swisher, and still suck. I’d really like to just call up the triple A Scranton team (I think that’s still the affiliate) and just root for those guys.
