Tonight there was a DCC pep rally and since I got nothing else to do I thought I would go and see what it is all about. Of course, M.M. was in tow. Funny thing about him is he doesn't want to miss a thing,....I wonder where he got that from ?? It was held at some Ford dealership about 40 minutes North of where we are staying in Fort Lauderdale. I have to say, they had this place decked out nicely. One of the locals favorites bar & grill, Duffy's, catered the event with some kick ass finger foods. Three types of sliders, three flavors of wings, tortilla chips with guacamole or salsa, and cookies & cupcakes too....all delicious. Beer, wine and soda pop was all on hand and free for the asking. It was a classy little event and only making me wonder what the actual after ride reception is going to be like. Top notch if this was any indication.
We arrived around 6:30 and really there wasn't too many people there, maybe just over 100. They called it a pep rally, but really it was more like a recruiting drive. Nat Moore gave Wifey the "hard sell", but he doesn't know her like I do. By the end of the night I think she was pressed on the situation by about 5 different people. All the while she stuck to her guns, " I'm here for support". I even tried to take some of the heat off her by offering to ride and extra 30 miles on day two. It was all good though.
One of the Dolphins alumni that showed up was Buckeye great Keith Byars. Hell yes M.M. wanted to meet him.
We chatted with the director of the DCC for quite a while. And the same could be said of another alumn James Pruitt. We meet James last Sunday in the lounge of the field club, was is a funny guy as we went back in forth busting each others chops a bit. Good times....
You know I had to tell M.M. to just keep your little mouth shut here. After all, we all have some questions for this guy,...me included. One comes to mind,.....WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AROUND HERE !!!??? But tonight was about good times and raising money for a good cause. So the conversation was kept light with Dolphins CEO Mike Dee.
Just another day in the life of M.M., it's anybody's guess what is in store next for the little guy.
