Before we get started here, I need to thank you guys. Now I know for a fact I'm a little "off" and shit like that really doesn't bother me. After all I've been dealing with it in one form or another all of my life. But, that's another story for another time. Anyways, the high I got from you guys coming to my defense was incredible. Again,....THANK YOU !
Yesterdays events had me wiped out. My phone and FB was blowing up today and I had a hard time finding motivation to do my training. I was napping on & off most of the day till I finally got on my bike. I woke from my final nap to Wifey laughing her ass off. "What's going on" I said as I woke. This only made her laugh harder....Then she tossed me the camera.
Anyways, on with the show. Last years 1st round pick, Jared Odrick, was his guest.
Jared is a very soft spoken guy, which kind of strikes me a bit odd. After I took this pic I said, " geez,...you look pissed". He said, " he shook my hand like he was Harbaugh". I replied, " well,....I think your big enough to handle it". That gave him a little chuckle.
Again after the show the Wifey and I chatted with Channing for about 15 minutes or so.
I led with who was his favorite player when he was young. Without missing a beat,....Lawrence Taylor.
I asked about coaching in the future. " No way,...I love the X's & O's, but there is no way I want to put in those kind of hours. That's crazy." I followed with, " what about high school ?". Here he was a bit more receptive but it seems more like a volunteering type thing as opposed to being a full time coach. I continued on, "what about when your boy is playing high school ball ?". He quickly said, "oh yeah,...I'll coach then".
I went on, " what about broadcasting ?". " Are you kidding me, I don't have the "look" they want, and all my tattoos". I followed with, " what about a fishing show seeing as that is one of your loves ?". Here we get some good info, " we're working on something like that right now". It appears the concept is to have a different Dolphin player or alumni on each show along with a underprivileged kid as well. I like the idea and I hope it gets off the ground and is successful ( after he returns to the NFl and hopefully the Dolphins).
I asked about the O-line, "are they any good ?", knowing damn well they ( as a group ) are not. "NO !" He went on to say that he would be very surprised if Columbo is in the league next year. I asked, " could I beat him ?" More classic Channing here, " If i'm betting, I'm putting my money on you,....every down. That guy is horrible." Too funny,.....but not really. Moore is listed as day to day with a rib injury,.....I wonder why.
Here I had to bust his balls a bit. " What's it like having the worst looking autograph I've ever seen ?". " What ??? C squiggly line, C squiggly line". I said, " yeah that chicken scratch,....could you write it neatly if you had too ?" He immediately grabbed a napkin and did one slow and one fast, amazingly that is a slight difference.
The final question was if Sparano use a ouija board or a magic 8 ball when considering the use of time-outs. " Magic 8 ball,....and for FG' too !". Here we yukked it up a bit at tony's expense.
All in all, it was another good time as the Wifey & I hung out with Channing. I like the guy, I hope he can resume his career and make an impact wherever he lands ( again, hopefully here in Miami ). it was real interesting to hear him talking to Jared about defensive schemes, even if I had no idea what it all meant. Some of you X's & O's guy would have loved it. Channing talked, Jared listened,....and it appears that my guy knows what the hell he is talking about.
This is your clown around town signing off,....lol
